  1. Hi Yeeros. Well stated mate, I have fished near twenty seasons on these ledges and could not have said it better. The only thing I would say is don't scratch it off your list Landbasenewbie take a trip down pack your self a feed and a camera and spend a day down there this season just to see what its all about and if your lucky you might see some action you will never forget. Landbase Addiction is a good movie if the trips too far. P.S people will tell you that you can walk in to Drum & Drum Stick and even my old spot at Devils Gorge but it will not be Marine Parks that prosecute you its the Navy. One more thing ring the range before you go as it may be closed I have been caught out before because i didnt bother to check. All the best. Scotty
  2. A Big thanks to my old mate and fellow Raider "Gameon" who took me out to The Peak on Sunday morning. We arrived with the water at 17.2 deg and a light S.E breeze droped down to only bring up Nannygai and this didnt last long as the they started coming up with only the head left so even when we did make it to the bottom we could not even get a fish back to the top without been eaten alive by the jackets. So got a feed of nice size jackets before heading back in to the light house for some nice flathead before the wind changed and picked up. Then headed into the bay to finsh off with a bit of fun on some trevally, all in all another great day spent fishing with great company
  3. Well done mate I hope to get there next year. Great pictures also. All the best. Scotty
  4. Hi Pete, Have you thought about a small multi hull like a webster I have had a hydofield tri hull and great in the rough and very stable. If I had the money my next and last boat would be a webster but that suits my style of fishing but may not suit you. good luck with the choice Pete.
  5. Hi Troutboy I fish for them with the same way as black fish only I use dough with a little cotton wool mixed through. It is very important to make sure your hook is exposed. Most people I have taken with me tend to strike too early I have seen the same fault with beginers when fishing for Black fish, you need to have a very gentle and relaxed but confident strike. I use a No 8 suicide hook and always bend a little more off set in it. Dont forget to add a little vasoline on your line to keep it on top of the water and yes I use small amonts of bread for berly but not the crust as it sometimes floats even after it is soaked and if it floats it will drift away and take the mullet with it. I catch these any time of day all day as I said before I have not caught a carp for ages but the herring can spoil a day. Many years ago we also would fly fish for them. I also let all of them go as I don't eat fresh water fish but mullet from the salt water I don't mind I hope this helps mate, if I can be of more help let me know. Scotty
  6. Well I was lucky enough to get a bit of time yesterday afternoon to gather 5 crickets so off I went early this morning before the kids got up. I got to the river and found a spot under a nice willow tree placed a cricket on a small hook dancing on the water surface adout 5 ft from the shore the poor little cricket only lasted adout 10 sec this was the first of three little thirty cm bass and one of about 10 cm so i moved up to the next willow in the hope of somthing a little bigger. As I took my eyes off the cricket it was hit and to my suprise a nice 47 cm catfish. Just one more thing I have been having some fun on mullet over the last few months and not once have I caught a carp infact I have not caught a carp up my end of the river for near 12 months am I just lucky or is the weed chokeing them out Anyway sorry I have no pictures I havnt learnt how to do that yet as I am a little old school but willing to learn. All the best.
