  1. I fish alot around the gong as its a guaranteed catch every time and good sizes but this particular spot i was at was the coal terminal.
  2. Went with a mate down to the gong yesterday out at Port Kembla, land based. Still appears to be alot of good sized salmon and bonitos around but also a mixed bag. Caught quite a few flatties, snapper, trevally and a few lil rock-looking-cods suprisingly but all of which were unfortunately under sized, though i am sure they were glad to live another day. Was pleased to come across a couple of kingies but they were undersized too. Caught my first fish using soft plastics but most were caught on the good ole pillies and squid. The conditions were great with the sun shining, lil wind and calm ocean, i couldnt have asked for a better day but the temp sure dropped as the sun went down.
  3. yeah, they always seem to be around without fail.
  4. Yes but like i mentioned earlier, its a fair walk. Then when you could imagine a fair walk... its a lil further more!!
  5. To be honest i dont know if its the inner or outer but im sure someone here could tell u exactly. Bear in mind the opening and closing times of the gate. They arent sign posted but the earliest ive been there is bout a lil after 7am leaving by 5pm. Entry was fine then but then ive been there later on in the morning on a few occasions before where the gates were shut!
  6. Sure is, past the sewer works and down the long road along the coast line.
  7. Went there 1 week and they were shut but we were prepared. Had a couple of bikes and a lil trailer set up off the bike to carry all our gear. Lately most of the time the gates have been open but ive noticed its been a lil later on in the morning.
  8. Down at the Coal Terminal. The access is pretty good provided the front gates are open otherwise you're in for a loooonnngg walk! All i can say is thank god for trollies
  9. Come on mate, u sure those flatties were real?!! Saw something similar to that size up in Cairns... apparently they're called crocs up that way! Awesome stuff boys.
  10. My rod & reel isn't anything too flash... a 12ft graphite rod combined with the daiwa reel but they sure work well together. The tank looks a bit "howz ur father" but it does the job nicely
  11. Fished down Wollongong way last weekend and had a great day land based. Caught my first of a few kings and some bonnies, salmon and flatties. Lost 2 other kings, 1 of which appeared to be close to a metre(prob wasn't but it sure looked like it was close to it!) but it busted my hook off as i pulled it up over the rocks. Lost 2 other good sized bonitos as well. Quite a few other fish were returned as i had caught enough fish already to feed the family. The kingy i did keep measured 72cms and 2 others that were caught were rats around 50-60cms so were again thrown back 2 fight another day. The salmon measured 85cms and the bonnie was 81cms. Tried my first livie tank set up and worked a treat. Ended up not having to use a 2kg bag of pilchards! Fish weren't record size but was still a great enjoyable day Overall was pretty pleased with myself catchin a kingy even though it wasn't anything to write home about but what really was funny is that one bloke was tellin me it was a salmon and was lookin at me strangely as i mustve been pretty stoked with excitement. He walked away sayin to someone else... "It was just a salmon"! Forgot to mention also it was a day for blackfishers also. There were schools of them just hangin round the weed.
  12. There was a small school of them cruisin around down at Coal Terminal yeasterday but could not tempt them. They were chasing the bait fish i was catching but didn't seem to wanna eat them
  13. i saw that same kingy back in NZ around new years! Poor fular swam all that way! That is an awesome catch bro
  14. That's gold!! Nice one mate. Borrowed a mate's boat one time and started panicking cos i couldnt seem to get the boat off (was a busy ramp and didnt want to upset anyone). Some bloke shouted out, "You've still got the bottom bracket on mate"! Bloody embarrassing i tell ya
  15. One thing u should be proud about dingo is the amount of replies u have received from someone who has minimal posts!! I didn't expect so many anglers on here fish around the eastern suburbs land based. Should all get together someday for a great day out. Well done on ur catch mate.
  16. And that's what U call a "poor day"?!!!
  17. Julienne in Malabar is great but u have to know when the conditions r right. It is quite deep there and u should always go with someone. i think when theres a NE wind/swell its the right time. x2 maroubra beach, either end as well but ive had more luck from the south end. On a good day, the north is great off the rocks but again, the conditions have to b right.
  18. How did i know the title of this thread would belong to u!! i've said it once and ill say it again.... do u ever have a bad day out?!! Good on ya Trung.
  19. Fish the north side of the beach. Apparently there's a drop off around that end near the rock ledges.
  20. Hey Raiders, Fished off Swansea beach last week. Caught 3x shovel-nosed sharks and came across some sambos, bream and flathead. Apologies for clarity of pics. Mobile ph went dead so wasn't able to capture pics of others. Most was thrown back due to not having the appropriate storage as someone knocked off some of our gear incl. esky as we went to check out the conditions upon arrival. Still, had an enjoyable evening nonetheless Other pics would not load up due to size
  21. Well a mate of mine had recently sold his boat so i thought id be depressing myself by fishing around the eastern suburbs as usual with not much luck but have began fishing down wollongong way again and have to say... the east side has nothing on the gong... im talking bout land based anyway. Was down port kembla way today for approx 8hrs from midday after waiting for the hide tide to drop (due to fishing off the rocks) and caught a total of 22 bonnies and 14 aussie salmon. Kept 12 and the rest were thrown back much to the suprise of many also fishing there Never in my life have i had such an eventful day land based fishing and a top day it was. My best for the day was a 72cm salmon and a 59cm bonnie. I was suprised at the average size of these fish down that way and the fact that there were just a constant flow of them all day. Unbelievable Was certainly alot of fun with my 12ft rod, 4500 daiwa reel, 20lb mono line w/40lb leader (worked for me!) using pilchards mainly but had a dozen or so caught on SP's and metals i think due to me feeling a lil confident by then! The bonnies werent failing to comply and jumped ashore on their own accord it seemed but some of the sambos put up a suprisingly good fight. A very crowded ledge but a great atmosphere of multicultural people with the only downfall being the amount of rubbish left behind. Very disappointing to say the least
  22. Once again the dhype has stepped up to the plate and delivered yet again another fantastic report. Ull soon be doing ur own charters giving Scotty Lyons a run for his money!
  23. Geez u fulars really know how to pull 'em in aye. What a great time u guys have. Im pretty useless but my asian mates have the same gift as u also! Always good to read ur posts mate. Keep up the good work
