  1. A couple of mates had a drop on the weekend for donuts. You'd be glad you didn't bother.
  2. excellent job on the brag and release plenty of people would have found it impossible to say no
  3. No we didn't and I saw absolutely nothing on the sounder as we drifted across the mountain
  4. Similar story to your last day for us today gamefishn. A lovely looking trail for 4 hours for nothing but empty beers and the beginnings of this seasons tan. Don't you work mate? I only ask cause I'm a little jealous.
  5. were where you jigging finin? Good work
  6. Has no one fished at all in the last week or two? Come on boys, give us a report? I'll be out tomorrow, a jig on the 12 then a burley at the mountain. VHF 21 "Soft Prawn" keep in touch Dan
  7. one hell of a harsh ride on the stabi's you'll need a knee replacement before the warranty runs out. They can't push through the waves the way a nice V would. Beam on they're fantastic, but when it comes to being underway, you'll wish you weren't.
  8. fair enough. Mine is 2 years old, pushed by a 140 suzuki with over 600 hours on it so there wouldn't be too many who would be more familiar with these boats. I chose it for it's abilities in a variety of situations. Great boarding platform and dive ladder standard, stable at rest with the flow through ballast keel, light enough to be towed by anything, roof and windscreen drop for towing lowering profile. Size of cabin very good, lots of stowage, live bait tank, lots of rod holders and rocket launcher all standard. All the things that will tack on 10 grand through another make are standard. I got mine in Vic, direct, and Matt Urzia is a pleasure to deal with and will do anything to look after a client. For a tin can, they have an excellent ride and I can assure you that they can take almost anything on weather wise, I have had it out in terrible conditions fishing Portland, the kind of stuff where you're afraid to let go of the wheel for 6 hours straight and it was hairy, but she lapped it up. I had an owner of a 680 patriot say to me at the ramp he was amazed we made it in that day as his big beast nearly rolled many times and he thought they were done for but the little barcrusher lapped it up. She makes some noise, slapping etc, but that's all it is. As far as Browns goes, that's where we usually go lines in and keep going so you've got the range and safety you're after. Yesterday was a big day and we only went through 120L. And in a following sea, you've never seen a boat that keeps such a straight track. The easytow trailers are awesome too. I am not the most wealthy bloke, and tried to save some coin when purchasing and had the trim tabs not included. Big mistake. You can make do with shifting load, but they really do need trim tabs. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Hope this helps. But at the end of the day, it is only a 20ft tinnie, I make it do things that most wouldn't, and I get wet and sore doing it and love every minute. I've got mates who've got or had just about every type of boat so feel free to PM me and I'll get some first hand info for you on other boats if I can Dan
  9. way too broad a question. pick out half a dozen types you like, and ask for the pro's and cons of each. There's about a hundred boats out there I'd take to Browns most weekends between 5.5 and 6.5m. I fish from a Barcrusher 560C and I love it but I know exactly how small a boat it is sometimes.
  10. yeah I'm sleeping/eating/breathing/working fishing at the moment. Bring it on. Tight lines mate
  11. well done mate, it was a beast of a fish, we were having a chat at the ramp I had a little 20ish toy when compared to yours. Did you measure length by any chance? Dan
  12. excellent report. can't wait for the weekend. well done guys
  13. Steve, Damo, results? The weekend is looking very enticing. Please tell me there are fish absolutely everywhere. Not that it matters, I'll be there. Dan
  14. November is the best time of the year to be fishing for Snapper. Westernport or Port Phillip, doesn't matter, it's hard to go out and not catch anything. Westernport has the added bonus of horrible bycatch such as Gummies, monster whiting, etc.
  15. Damn this weather. I have been obsessing all week about getting out and amongst it, to the point where we were going to make the mad dash out this arvo for a couple of hours and ride the change home well into the night before the forecast deteriorated. Sunday was looking no good, but has improved a bit, lets hope it gets even lighter for us trailerboat fishermen. Good luck if you do get out gents
  16. Sorry, should have elaborated, online shop. Some Japanese mob, brand new. Buy it now price so you might even get one cheaper at auction.
  17. Damo do you see the forecast improving? I'm dying to get out there this weekend after the last week's reports, unfortunately we spent last saturday chasing sharks and missed the action. It's looking pretty terrible for the weekend. Dan
  18. a mate just got one off online shop landed for around 550, not the 50w but the LRS so just keep looking guys and don't be in a hurry Dan
  19. many thanks to fishythings for coming out yesterday. Wasn't our day but we were right on the money with boats around us doing well but that's fishing. Thanks to those who got back to me too, I've got a shortlist for next time now! Send me a friend thing via fishraider and I'll put out a more select query next time, Dan
  20. I'll keep you in mind for next time squid
  21. I never seem to get a response from anyone serious in the "desperate and boatless" section so I'll have a go here. Looking for a deckie for tomorrow, chasing either Mako's or Tuna, not sure which just yet. Boat is a 560C Barcrusher so we're not travelling in style but it keeps the costs down, which you would be expected to share. Would much prefer experience, but if I don't get a better offer I'll take anyone cause I hate being dry. PM me, Dan
  22. A fish like that does deserve some celebrating, especially on 15. It would've won a few comps so far this year at the right time. Well done guys
  23. should have been more specific. Tuna or Mako's wide, not certain of which yet
  24. Anyone interested in playing deckie tomorrow PM me Dan
  25. come on barredup more info please. Are we talking within reach of trailer boats?
