Mate if you head down to Jb and intend fishing the tubes, you need to take
some serious gear as you catch some very big fish.If you go in holiday time
forget it,the ledge will be covered by dawn.
you can catch all your live bait, then rig with atleast 24kg line, use baloon
livies will take bait out, then brace yourself.
Drum and drumsticks is another good spot.all info you need ,can get at
culburra bait shop, plus maps, just head out to lighthouse.
Cheers Rick.
thank you very much. I have a TLD 30 with 50lb line. a 950ssm with 30lb line 10 foot rod, hope that will be ok.

No wear as safe as you think ,90% of all the death at avoca have happened in less than 2 foot of ne swell .IF YOU GO TO AVOCA AND THERE SURFING THE POINT THINK TWICE BEFOR YOU FISH .the point breakes in a nor east swell .A lot of rock fisherman and women look but dont see what they are looking at this is where they come undone .
i go to a spot its pretty safe. even if the waves are like 2.5 meters and knock you down. it washes you to the back of the rocks. it happened to one of my mates.

Hello fish raiders, I am a landbase fisherman. I have been fishing Avoca for a while now, and have finally have an overhead reel for life baiting. I have caught a few undersized kingies at Avoca on pilchard. Still chasing my first legal kingie to take home. I have read posts about how great Jervis Bay is and also heard people talking about catching BIG kingie and marlins there. I was just wondering if people could inform me on good landbased spots at jervis bay.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Can you guys use google map or wiki to indicate the spots please ?

Went to fish on Avoca on Thursday. There wasnt many fishermen out at the rocks which was a good thing and i got my fav spot that i wanted. It was also nice seeing a fellow raider RayR. Im so envious finding out that he lives so close to the rock. Anyways didnt catch many big fish that day. only caught 3 boni 1 trev 4 yellowtails 1 unknown fish (ray suggested it was a pike) its so exciting to catch a new type of fish! Me and my girlfriend had fun that day and it rained so we decided to go home.

how big was the biggest bream you guys caught last year? and what do you guys use as bait, plastic or prawns or bread??
-
nice looking jetty, do you mind me asking where it is?
-
nice to see dad is participating with their daughter =]] Did you try out the telegraph lure especially made for you??
-
imho those lures r pretty crappy. If u wanna get the most outta them id prolly take the treble off and save it for some hardbody u might have with rusted hooks...they arent the best trebles but they look like they wud go with a cheap hardbody fine. As for the rest of it, now it only has one hook and would prolly be only useful to catch flathead, those trebles wud make releasing fish a real pain thus the idea to take them off. Best place to use them around ur area wud be far up the georges or around brighton off the rockwalls. Gd luck
where is the rockwall at brighton? is it next to the airport? can you show me on google map please.
thank you

Today is father's day. Said happy father's day to dad then when to get him TWO sunday telegraph. equiped with the two new lures when to cook's bridge around 12 and started casting. The wind was very strong, couldnt cast very far but still kept trying. I also had another rod on bread. around 3pm then one on bread started going off. first caught a small 20cm bream, then rerigged bread again and caught a 10cm tailor. it was the smallest tailor i have ever seen. as soon as i was about to lift him and put it to the jetty, the tailor bit the line off. It was pretty fun fighting that tailor. After rerigging and puting the bait into the water, about 5minutes later i hear zzzzzz, it must have been a big fish. so i went to land it, i had about 1minute of the fight, then it was really sad, my uni knot between the main 15lb line and the 4lb line broke. couldnt land it! what else was bad luck was the fact that my main line got tangled and had to cut it off. As with the new father's day lure, i am still trying to catch fish with those.

At the moment, i have a slade 4000 equipped with 30lb line. the 30lb braid is as thin as other 8lb line(god it was expensive $60 for 150-200 meters). Im thinking of getting a rod for it. I was looking at dohhh or the catana 8foot. im mainly using it for fishing at the jetty on lures and squiding, maybe even take it down to Juliann for a spinn at the rocks. any suggestion is welcomed!
Ps im thinking of spending $60 =]
thanks guys in advance

Hello guys, i just recently started rock fishing down at little bay area, was thinking of buying an overhead. Reels that i was thinking about are tld30 tyrnos30 or maybe a second hand tiagra 30. A heard from a bloke that if you want to rock fish, dont buy the tyrnos 30 or the tiagra 30, go for the tld or the sealine. because you wanna fish with light gear and if a big wave comes, you can just leave the gear there and run, instead of risking your life. if you get a tyrnos or tiagra, you might think twice and risk you life cause of the price of the reel. what do you guys think?
i want to fish for kingie, jew and if i get the chance to go up north, yellowfin on yellow tail or squid
thanks for your help guys

Hi everyone,
was wondering if the leagl size for Kingies is 65cm how come the local fish monger sells fish that is a lot smaller in size?
Thanks Rick
I dont think commercial fishing have a "size limit" becaus they have different fishing style! they use the net instead of the bait and hook. if small fish gets in the net, its most likely that they are dead by the time it is sorted in the deck anyhow so might as well sell them. thats my logic anyhow
Does It Matter Which Way The Rod Bends?

From memory, i think this question has been asked and the answer was it doesnt matter which way they bend.
