  1. No worries mate might see you out there! Cheers Hiles
  2. Gday Chris We have been heading up to the north end of narrabeen...have tried a couple of spots up towards the lake entrance, within a few hundred metres of it and have had luck in 2/2spots. To be honest both times we've got there at dark and just tried to look for any kind of rips or swell being mixed up a bit, seems to have done the trick As for the poppers i'm quite the rookie myself but they have the solid head with feathery tails and seem to move around nicely in the swell and currents Hiles
  3. sure will...popper above gangs with pillies
  4. Are the surf poppers effective/as effective at night?something i've always wondered.. Hiles
  5. Hey raiders Me and Higgs went to North Narrabeen beach again last night and had good results. Was a slow first few hours, got there about 630, but ended up getting 2 salmon, one of which was 56cm, a PB , a 33cm trevally and a small flattie. Also had a few runs that didn't hook on which was annoying. High tide was at 7-30 and 1st fish was caught at about 8-30. Whenever there was one hook up, another rod went off seconds later. So if you've got a few lines out and miss a chance on one rod, watch the other rod carefully!!! Was using Pilchards and chicken breast, I think all the fish were actually caught on the chicken!Pics below Cheers Hiles
  6. Some mates and I were also at north narra last night!Got a nice salmon and a large port jackson shark. Pillies on gang hooks seem to be the go Surprised we didnt see you ollii! Hiles
  7. Definitely mate!pretty sure we're heading down on thursday if you're around
  8. Hey raiders Headed down to the beaches last night, got there just after high at about 6:45, would of been good to get there a bit earlier but not to worry! Set up the beach rods with ganghooks and pillies and cast out. My mate (Higgs) had just been squiding and managed one which we also cast out. Didn't have to wait long, only about 5-10 mins and I had hooked on! Managed to get him in and up washed my first ever salmon!Would of been about 50cm, didnt get a chance to measure him unfortunately. Was pretty stoked and hoping for some more action!Cast back out and about half hour later hooked up again to a bigger fish. Up came a port jackson shark, atleast 1m long, we managed to get a good look at him before he bit my line off and swam back into the ocean with the help of the upcoming waves. Not long after that Higgs pulled in a little flattie. The action died off after that so we ended up moving between a few spots but no more fish were caught. Pic of the salmon below. Will definately be back for more some time this week! Cheers Hiles

  15. Hey guys, Me and my mate have had a boat for a few months now and I'm really keen to get into trolling. Can anyone impart some wisdom on what lures seem to have the best results lately for catching fish such as salmon, kingies, tailor etc. in places like Pittwater or Botany Bay? Any other general tips and methods are much appreciated!! Cheers Hiles

    Numbfish

Hey mate, were you using poppers/lures or bait? cheers hiles
  17. Hey Raiders! Went out for our first ever fish at Botany Bay this morning after reading so many reports about it. Tried our luck drifting along cook park but nothing happening there. Decided to head into deeper waters and chucked out some pillies on gang hooks. Ended up catching 2 Tailor around the 25-30 cm length which we considered a decent start. Then headed over closer to some rocks and my mate hooked up to a decent flattie and a few snapper around the 20cm mark on prawn. Apart from that the prawns seemed pretty useless. We had a few more runs on the pilchards but didn't hook on, so seems like there could be quite a few tailor about. Not the best day of fishing but a reasonable result considering our lack of experience at the bay. Unfortunately no good pics to show but heading down to the beaches next weekend so will hopefully be posting a picture-filled report next week! Peace Hiles
