  1. John, I've got your email address, I'll send you hanks.
  2. Tight lines buddy. I'm sure it will be a dream. I've only one wish, and that's to nail that bloody marlin that's been hiding from me.... Pirates all the way!!
  3. Trying again on Saturday. The reports are improving all the time.
  4. Happy new year all and tight lines for 2017. Thanks to Donna, Stew and all the mods for providing a great site to share our experience.
  5. Went 2-1-0 over the shelf off Newcastle today . Water was dirty green all the way out but found great temp break (23-24.5) and current but no bait or birds. Had a band break on the short rigger and as I reeled it back in a little it loaded up and off it went. It was good to be connected even for just a minute but the fish turned and threw the hooks before we had the deck cleared. Hopefully be a bit more bait around next weekend.
  6. If slow trolling lives, put a small bean sinker next to the hook on one of your leaders, it will help stop the lines tangling too.
  7. Where was this finin ? I'm out Saturday off Newcastle to see if 2016 can produce a bill. Then comps start in Feb for big fish and Interclub.
  8. The drop-off seems a popular spot for squid if you have a boat. I've had success at moon Island for big green eye if you can get outside.
  9. Well I'm impressed with that.. Good old fashioned rod and reel fishing with lots of bitching to add a smile
  10. OK, so I'm a bit behind the curve but others like me who don't do the foxtel thing. Wicked Tuna on mate at 8:30 Now what's all this fuss been about??
  11. Fished past the shelf last weekend. Water was 24 but almost no bait and went Zeros. Did hear of bait very close in, so no info on the fad
  12. Both of my suggestions are already up
  13. Are you trolling or casting from boat or shore?
  14. Had 24 deg off the shelf but bugger all bait. Damn elusive Marlin.
  15. Yea, full fish tally listed above with the addition of striped tuna for the kids. Gonna try and find some good water off Newcastle tomorrow.
  16. Well done guys, it was hard work out there. We were one of the many, many boats going zero.
  17. Australian fishing Is another good app so you always have id, size and bag limits with you.
  18. I'm seeing unconfirmed reports that the Geelong star has left Aussie waters and is no longer registered here. A quick search shows it off south Africa at the moment. Has anyone else heard anything on this?
  19. Some real nice id pictures there Stew.
  20. Thanks Steve. Yea I get the feeling the radio will be full of nonsense. It's next Fri, Sat and sun Ray.
  21. Mine used to smoke like a bugger on caltex oil. I switched to the manufacturer recommended (expensive evinrude) runs MUCH cleaner now.
  22. Almost the same as Bee Jay but the public mooring at Jibon, lots of bread burley and a single unweighted hook falling through the water worked best for me. I've had the occasional squid there but not loads. The patchy ground off salmon haul is supposed to produce more squid but I struggled there tbh.
  23. Cheers mate, yes my first game comp. We're trying for both Bill and grey biters Been told I'm one of 2 reel men so hopefully get to bag something big Steve
