  7. I went through two and replaced several coils on an old evinrude, got sick of it and just got myself a 2010 70hp tohatsu, couldnt justify spending any more on the old girl.
  8. Mate i went through the same ordeal, and yep the battery strength plays a big part for start up on the older motors,i had tryed to start on rather flat battery would turn fly wheel but would not fire, then recharged battery and boom, away she went,i was evn advised dont know how true it is but the volt difference you put out with a semi flat battery can also damage your stator+coils or power pack dont know how true but better safe then sorry, good luck buddy,
  9. Nice as usual ray,you seem to be the flat head wisperer, nice day out wasnt it ,we were out around brissy water but didnt venture out side the misses still freakes out, nice flatty haul must say,i too love the old lizard.will look out for ya next time ,catch ya.
  10. You can just as easy take the old hub with you as easy to remove, you can tell the difference just by site between the HQ and HJ,they are considerabley different, they normally come with hub and bearing kits,it isnt much more money for the lot, just letting you know what i went through myself:thumbup:

  13. yep i renamed my boat it was named ,now brace yourself,"Sea Beaver" ,and it was pinky purple colour,so being a bloke i felt compelled to rename and paint.I think the next owner will be pleased also, didnt do any sacrafices but i gathered repainting it and all other work deemed it not the same boat, thats my theory any way,LOL:1prop:
  14. To get it home if you are unshore it will make it just hire a car trailer from most garages or hire places and place it on it and tow home on that then sort out the bearing ect problams...
