  11. Mate exactly the same thing happened to me!!! 2 years ago when I bought my first boat (privately) I took it to a well know boat dealer on the beaches to fit a 2nd hand Yamaha I bought from them. The big day came to pick it up, was hitched up to the car ready to take off to the ramp, and my mate who was with me spotted it at the last minute. The bottom bung was clear, but the bung above that was behind a perspex type thing that the had the motor mounted over. Thank f&*k he noticed it, because being my first boat I would never have known. The dealer ended up doing a dodgy and installed a new thread on the INSIDE of the boat, so to put the bung in you would have to move the fuel tank, get on your stomach and reach back behind to the transom and put it in that way. It leaked terribly, and was a massive hassle to insert and remove the bung. I copped it for a few months, then went back and made em fix it properly. They ended up just drilling out the perspex over the bung so I can fit it from the outside again. PM me if the dealer was on the Northern Beaches, cause if he is the same bloke then it's worth reporting.
  12. Wow that's really generous of you! I would love to put my hand up, but I think it would be nice for it to go to someone who really can't afford it. If you get no taker though, PM me!
  13. Great report mate, keep em coming! And better luck next time on the Jewie!
  14. That's a fantastic breambo....Congrats mate!
  15. Congrats mate! Now let the addiction begin!
  16. Good stuff mate, it's great to see you pass on the passion to your little man.
  17. Congrats mate, well done! It took me 6 months of solid SP fishing until I got my first hookup (but I'm obviously not a very talented fisho!)
  18. Feeling elated, but a little disappointed on not getting a blue, started making lunch and sure enough the Tiagra 80 started screaming! After about a 55 minute fight tagged an estimated 160kg blue marlin. Dream accomplished, and I was absolutely broken. I felt physically sick from the exertion of fighting this amazing fish. Sadly the missus had some issues with the camera, so no photos, but we got some awesome video of its aerial work! At least I got the memories! It was the best day of my life (after my wedding day of course!). No better feeling than pulling back into port flying these flags. One very happy man!
  19. Recently got back from 5 days in Vanuatu. My wife organised the trip as a birthday present, knowing that since getting into fishing about a year ago I have obsessed over catching a blue marlin. Went out on Reel Capture, which was a beautiful boat. Solo chartered it cause I hate sharing! Hit the water a 6.30 am, perfect conditions, no wind and hardly any swell (although the wife still managed to feel seasick after 5 mins). Couldn't believe how cobalt blue the water was, it was amazing! At about 8.30 I was staring out the back of the boat when I saw a blue dorsal fin come out of the water, u-turn, and start following the spread, before diving under the surface. The deckie called "marlin" and it was on! Jumped in the chair, my body was shaking with excitement, strapped in and then heard the sound I had flown 4 hours to hear "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" After a relatively short fight of about 25 mins had this little guy gaffed and on board. A nice little Striped Marlin! He fought surpisingly hard, and I'm not the fittest bloke in the world, so it really took it out of me! My first marlin, please don't make any negative comments about keeping him, he fed a lot of families that week. Promised the missus the next fish was hers. Couple of hours later we got another hit and she brought in this beautiful dolly. To put it inperspective I'm 6'2" and about 98kgs
  20. Thanks very much Peter!

    Balmoral

I've been squidding at Balmoral for the last 2 afternoons for nothing. Some other fishos were trying for yakkas without any luck either. The water has been pretty clear, if you cast out towards the moored boats you will have a good chance for trevally. Bait of choice for me there is pillies or yakka (live if possible). Salmon have been pretty plentiful there of late too. Good luck!
