  1. That wee wop is coppin a workout. Well done mate, nothin like flickin a few lures ay'. Dan
  2. I woke up at 3:05 yesterday morning, Which was a bit unusual, and although i tried desperatly to get back to sleep, my efforts were fruitless. But while lying there pondering things(mainly things fishy), it occured to me that there was a high tide at around 6:30. So that really got my mind working. I'd been keen to work the flats at figtree at a higher tide and see what i could make of it, as other times when tredging across these same flats at i low tide i'd noticed alot of sign of bream feeding was present. Any way I arived at 4:45 which meant i had a good 2hours of fishing before work. Beautiful I tied on my favourite hard bod to some 6lbs leader and i was set. I notice alot of surface activity and concentrated most of my casting arond this activity. casting 2 or 3metres past, then slowly retrieveing through the strike zone. Several casts later i was smashed by a decent brean of 31cm to the fork. which caused me a bit of trouble landing due to me being 1.5m from the water, which was an interesting climb to say the least. continueing this pattern of following surface activity, which by this stage had me running up and down like a lunatic, i soon acounted for three more lizards between 30-35cms, and another bream of 23cms. By this time it was about 5:30 and things were starting to slow down with only one small flattie in about 20mins. I was just starting to fall in my false sense of security when i felt a small tap followed by a huge crunch. It felt like a flattie of size but the thing that puzzled me was it made several 30 odd metre runs, which ive never experienced with a lizard, maybe a short burst but not long runs like that. A few minutes later i got a glimps of my counterpart, and just that,a glimps, it was a lizard and a decent one at that, but it was off again on another run. I finally had it at the base of the wall i was standing on but my lure was nowhere to be seen. while contemplating how to land it and retrieve my lure, i grabbed my trusty tape measure and gave it a rough size up, about 55cms. It was then i realised how chaffed my leader was. My heart was in my throat as another headshake made me realise how quick things could turn sour, but she was still on. desperation kicked in as i grabbed the pliers, i began to scale the wall with rod in one hand an long nose in the other, the plan was to grab her by the bottom jaw and hoist her up. The first attemt failed with a head shake which i was sure was the end of my fun, but no she was still there. Attempt 2 resulted in another head shake and the enevitable twang of flurocarbon breaking. I climbed back up and sat there near in tears and screaming words of profanity, not for the fact of losing the biggest lizard id had the pleasure of tusseling with, as i would have released her anyway, but the fact that i lost my number one lure. Grief is hard to deal with sometimes The next 45 odd minutes was spent pondering what just happened. before leaving and heading to work with the blues. In order to rid myself of these blues , directly after work i headed to IC and had an absolutly top session, but that is another story Dan
  3. What a ripper. If you dont mind i'll definatly have to borrow that one. Keep em' comin Dan
  4. G'day, to the site. What a horse of a bream. that pb will take some beating. I havn't hit the 40's yet but come close a few times. Good on ya for releasing her, as she could be as old as 25-30 years old and a fish like that is too good to catch once. Dan
  5. Thankyou very much for "feeding us late comers" it was above and beyond the call of duty, and we really appreciate it. I reckon your a top notch cook too. Tony, we'll have to catch up for a fish up in your neck of the woods soon, snapper rocks or wybung. Keep in touch though. Cheers Dan
  6. What a beautifull place it is too. I don't get out there enough, but when i do its like being in gods own country Congrats. on some good fish and a top report. Cheers Dan

  8. G'day, I've had a fair bit of success with bream on halco sneeky scorpions in brown trout and tiger,k sx40s in a multitude of colours depending on conditions(water colour etc), i really like the 307 in clear water. I recently started using an attack in pink and purple which seems promising but still putting it through its paces But no "arse" is complete without some poppers, used in the right conditions it is a really visual and exiting way to fish. Havn't done much bassin' so i cant help you there, sorry. all the best, Dan.
  9. Hey Mondo, Firstly, what a barra! Thanks for the info mate, i will definately take it on board, and i reakon it may alter my decision somewhat. I intend to use the line on my recently purchased Loomis CBR 756, Which is based on the GL-3 Blank. and couple this to my millionaire SW-203. i was just wondering roughly how much 30lbs fireline you could fit on yours( millionaire 203), in comparison to 20lbs? Also is that fireline or XDS? thanks Dan
  10. its to be used on a baitcaster for up north, targeting barra, jacks and trev, and possibly a bit of offshore work. Id like a line which casts well. thanks for the info, keep it coming its greatly apprieciated Thanks Dan

    What Reel?

G'Day, I recently bought a Shimano Twin power, and am absolutely wrapped with my dicision. It is on par with the sustain in both price and quality, although has slightly slower retrieve ratio of 4.8:1 but is lighter at 332g. it also has a few features i prefer like two speed oscillation.which prevents line digging in on it self, and apparently assists casting(personally i dont know). Although both great reels, the dicision has to be personal Hope this has helped your decision Dan.
  13. G'Day, I finally found my bream. I went down to IC again this morning for a 2 hour flick before work. Not much luck for the first hour or so, then as the tide began to rise, and i was on! Just a little 30cm flattie, although it rasied my spirits a little. then several casts later i was rewarded with another lizard of roughly the same size, and then another, all within a 10 minute period and all caught on watermelon 2" minow grubs. Then moving around to the bridge i noticed a few small mullet near the pillon, , i tried a 3" minow, hoping to imitate one and intice any hungary predators near by. but had no luck. Moving down a bit further down, i continued my assult but my quiet spell continued, not even a touch. The sun was getting higher and with fear of being late for work i decided to pull stumps. but as i was walking past the bridge, i noticed the school of tiny mullet (which i spyed earlier) flee across the surface. With one swift movment, I opened the bail arm and sent my 3" evil minow soaring, landing it 1 metre or so passed the disterbance on the water. I just managed to get the bail arm closed when unexpectedly the rod buckled. Setting the hook ,line then started peeling from my Twin Power 1000. After nearly being wrapped around the pillon, the fight was fought and one with my first bream on a lure at my feet . After measurments the fish was released. It came in at 27cms to the fork, which also happens to be my pb, as you could imagine i had a smile well in access of 27cms Thanks Dan
  14. G'Day Thanks alot for the info. I really look forward to wetting a line with you and putting names to faces Cheers Dan
  15. G'Day Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the beach session for the social on the 5th of march, I've never fished the enterence beach and was wondering, what are the main target species bream/whiting, tailor/salmon, is there a chance at jewies etc, what tecniques ie SP's or bait? any suggestions would be really apprieciated Thanks Dan
  16. Good on ya mate, Its bloody addictive isnt it? I've recently been bitten by the bug aswell, now i cant get enough, I work near the georges, so im really keen to hear if you have much luck and roughly where as i dont know the system very well, but would love to wet a line before work. good luck Dan
  17. G'Day all, Went for a run down to IC this morning with Ianoc69 with high hopes and expectations of running into my first bream on plastics, also it was a good chance for a run in of my 21st B'Day pressie, a tournament T-Curve 6'6 and Twin power 1000.(thanks honey) The morning started well with a small lizard and ianoc69 picking up two under sized bream in the first hour, followed by a nice bream of about 27-28cm and a few more little flatties. Then moving over to the bridge saw me pick up a little flounder, but the bream still illuded me The rest of the morning was fairly uneventfull, as the tide peaked and began to fall, a few hits kept us interested but failed to hook anything, although lost a few tails due to the resident chopper tailor's aggressive feeding habits We pulled up stumps at about 9ish still pleased with the days events and even more eager to catch up with my first bream on plastics..... and soon. Dan
  18. G'Day Try Ebay there is usually a few canoes on there, prices range considerably. Alot of sh#t though
  19. G'Day, I'm a fishraider virgin, just signed up today, and i was wondering if anyone could give me any feedback on the T-Curve 6' baitcaster. I intend mating it with a Diawa SW-203 for use on Barra and Jacks in northern rivers. How well does this rod cast lures of 15-20g, would this combo loaded with 8-10kg braid be suitable for my intended use? Any feedback would be greatly apprieciated. Cheers, Dan.
