  1. Its been a while since I've hit the bay and with the recent rain and unfavourable conditions I was itching to get a line wet however there was a slight issue and that was the timing. To put you in the picture we had to head up to Forster in the morning pick up my mates new Cruise Craft 595 and get it back to Sydney. With 8 hours of driving ahead of us the call was made to try for some jewies when we got back. We were back in sydney at 4pm to have a car beside us call out that one of the trailer tyres had gone flat, quick fix and we got her home. We got all our gear together and jumped in my boat and were met at kyeemah ramp by a mate in his 410 challenger polycraft. The wind was up and I was rather skeptical to fish the runways. We tried our luck and drifted towra point for a small flatty, then a mate hooked what he thought was the bottom to then realise it was another line. This had some weight to it so I kept retreiving it to end up with over 200m of mono line and a redhead lure with a hooked 35cm tailor which was prime bait. It was lumpy so we made the call to hit Captain Cooks were the chopper tailor were alive with the predators not far behind and the 15 boats hanging around the bridge. Tally for the night a monster flatty at 85cm and 2 soapies. Ive caught an 85cm before but this was double the width. All caught on tailor fillets and let to live another day. A massive day but rewarding at the same time. Still in search of that +1m jewy and flatty. Thanks for reading Cheers Vo2c88
  2. Hey guys a mate of mine is in the market for a new boat mainly for game fishing and has been looking at the cruise crafts, evolution boats and haines hunters. He's rather confused on which one to choose and wouldnt mind seeing peoples thoughts on them. He has been told a Cruise Craft 595 had a better ride than a 625. Your thoughts will be appreciated! Cheers Vo2c88

  11. MartyMonsta unfortunately for you that is the one. Its like that these days, if you see a neat boat you got to jump on it rather quickly or its gone. Just keep looking mate and I'm sure another one will come up. He was looking around for over 6 months. Lets hope it serves him well. Regards Vo2c88

  14. Surprisingly very stable for that size of boat.
  15. So my mate bought his first boat and was keen to take it out over the weekend. Its a polycraft 4.1m challenger perfect for the estuary fishing he enjoys. A late call was made Sunday to go for a flick on the georges merely to get him used to the boat and the way it handles. The aim was to flick some plastics towards the banks in the hope of getting a jewy or two. First fish was an EP, a first for me on soft plastics then a cousin of mine got hit by what we expect was a jewy which took him around a snag and that was it. We then moved down the river where I got a 65cm flatty followed by a monster on a bream measuring at 45cm. We couldn't believe our eyes. At first we thought it was a soapie to then realise its a monster. Wish we had entered the pirtek challenge. A great day out one to remember not to mention a great boat for such style of fishing. All fish where released to live another day. Regards Vo2c88
  16. Guys ive had an issue after updating the software, the system has become rather slow and for some reason cannot input a name to waypoints or trails. The keyboard comes up however there is no enter button i can press to lock in the name. Pretty weird. Has anyone come across this issue before and know the solution. As for clutter ive been trolling offshore lately and have chnaged the setting to fast trolling and ammend the noise clutter and surface rejection to high however i still get alot of blue and light red clutter up to say 15m from the surface. What would be the best setting for offshore trolling with zoom in the top 50m. Any help will be appreciated. Regards victor

  20. It seemed to be a long time coming, maybe not but my goal this season was to target and land a beakie on my own 5.5m centre cab. I cannot explain the drive ive had given the fact this is my first year targetting beakies with which the first three trips saw 3 fish raised and hooked but dropped throughout the fight. We all had a good feeling this time and boy did our dreams come true. Trolled out of botany on Saturday heading south in 70fathoms. 1 hour in and the long rigger goes off and all hell broke loose. Surely we weren't going to drop this one. Decks were cleared in seconds, everyone knew their role somewhat and we settled in the fight. The leader got touched 4 times throughout the fight but this fish was not going to give up too easily. 45 mins later it was now or never, matty grabbed the leader then beak and held on for dear life. This fish still had some kick in her, poor matty was being thrown around line a rag doll but he held on enough to calm the fish down. With scream and shouts echoing our dream was realised. We targeted and caught a nice black, quick snaps and back she went after a swim beside the boat. Thankyou to everyone from fishraider who have helped along the way, scratchie and Gerry especially. Now for another one :-)
  21. Well done mate, its a bloody rush I tell you when you see that beak launch out of the water. Congratulations to all involved. Keep up the good work
  22. Keep at it Gerry, the big blue should come this weekend :-)
