Mate we bagged out on 40kg fin just after lunch and then we had a triple hookup while waiting for a mate that we had called over to fish in our cube trail. We caught 10 fish yesterday all around 40kg. One of my best days on the water to date!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry boys got in late last night. For all you people going out later today or tommorrow ther are fish out there. We caught ten fin yesterday from 40 to 45kg. With double and triple hookups the norm. We could have caught much more but the guys were pissing around with 10kg and soft set drags so for over 2 hours he was being led all around the boat and then we left our trail to chase the fish which was eventually lost. I dont believe the fish was even tired yet as 2 -3 kg of drag puts no hurt on a fish that holds itself in the current by turning side on. Neway,,, We kept six and released the others I fished with my new Stella and it is the best cubing reel ever. All i had to do was release the leader into the water and watch the braid peel off on its own until a fish picked it up, flick the bail arm over and wait for the rod to load up.. There are plenty of good fin out there. Once in our trail they stayed all day and without leaving our trail and not fishing due to 10kg line we probably would have caught 20 or more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A DAY ON THE WATER!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeh ill be out on a mates boat out from Sydney. Hope the seas drop a bit though!

If it happens so often maybe someone should set a trap and wait in the bushes or something. There is no point ringing the police as their hands are tied by political bs. An arse whipping is what they need. One that they wont forget in a hurry!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure what type of rod you have but i used to have a medium taper rod and switched to a slow taper rod and i now rarely miss a fish. The rods are by no means sloppy but the rods load up on their own and more often than not it is a solid hookup. I think when the bream feel the tips of a stffer rod they dont continue with their feed. I never feed line to fish and always fish in gear. Peeling the prawns sometimes makes them feed more freely as well.

I dont expect any one to give me their secret spots or anything but where would i start looking for them. I am prettr sure to look for broken weed/sand but a couple of starting point would be much appretiated so i know im not wasting my time in the wrong spot. What depth have you been getting them in?

Went to Botany today for a family day on the water and we also put some hats down for crabs. I caught 1 crab today. The water in botany though is not very inviting for my wife and kids as we usually picnic at bundeena and the water there is crystal clear. My question is do you get crabs in port hacking ( im pretty sure you would ) and where would be a good spot to place the hats. Today was my first attempt so i am pretty new to this crabbing thing? Any help would be much appretiated? Thanks!

I think the first and the third are the same fish, it looks to me to be some kind of carpet shark. A photo out of the net would help........

May i just say that is a HUGE days fishing. Did you put a Jewie bait out o/night or did you just sleep. Why do you launch the night before?

A lot of the time when we get forecasts they are for inshore waters and they are usually a little stronger the further out you go. I usually compare Buoyweather, Seabreeze and BOM and settle somewhere in between as they usually all differ from one another. BOM is usually worst case though. I was watching the weather myself though to get out on saturday and we decided against it. Buoyweather had yellow flags up and that is a definate no for any trailerboat going to browns. It wasnt meant as a dig at you!! Sorry if it came across that way

Dont give up on the braid just yet. I have stopped using it with bread and butter species ( bait ) but find its diameter invaluble whilst lure fishing. From what you have told us i would say you should back off your drag a fair bit. There is no need to fish your braid to its maximum but know that it is there if you need it.

Im off to SA as well. I am going to Wallaroo to chase some snapper. My wifes family catch them up to 20 kg. I cant wait i have been looking forward to it all year!!!!!!!!

I think i might have gone over .hooked and landed his fish,kept it and cast his rod out again. I used to often sleep on my o/night trips but i used to hear even one click of my ratchet. Id say he was that drunk that you probably could have raided his boat
