  1. Gday looking at a sounder for my just purchased first yak.Would not require the sounder at all times so was thinking of a hummingbird fishing buddy 110 just wondering if anyone has tried one out.My other thoughts were a lowrance x4 or x5 any advice appreciated.Cheers happy paddling.
  2. Great report thanks for sharing those snaps look the goods.I know the area well and holidayed there often,Pacific palms was also my go to accommodation it really is one the best places to visit in the State fishing is great as well.Cant wait to travel up for a crack with the new yak on the ute.
  3. Hi raiders I have a lot of pre-rigged plastics un-opened in the packets some are years old.Generally I find myself using the liquid gulp types on various jig heads which I store in a dedicated wallet type storage systems. Was thinking of storing the others in a couple of plano trays to encourage use, just wondering if the shelf life of these plastics will diminish in non airtight storage or should I keep in the packets and re-seal after use.Cheers.

    savage gear

Hi all just wondering if anyone has tried out the savage gear range of lures yet picked up some the other day hardbodies and soft plastics looking forward to giving them a swim.cheers.
  5. Gday will be dragging the boat and yak plus a heap of lures to Wyangala for a camping trip in January.Just wondering if any raiders have recent experinces there they want to share. As far as impoundment fishing goes have had plenty of cracks at Burrinjuck,Burrendong and Jindabyne but never Wyangala.Cheers.
  6. Fished a southcoast jetty all night live baiting for kings with yakkas for zilch.when packing up in the morning left last yakka out and started throwing left over prawns out watching the slimies and yakkas in a feeding frenzy.low and behold a pair of 1 metre plus kings cruised around the Melee.cranked the live bait in and dangled it on their noses to no affect tried butterfly yakka and fillets on the 10kg outfit they did not want a bar of it.as a last throw of the dice grabbed the bream gear 5kg mono straight through 1/0 suicide hook and floated a whole prawn down with the last hand full of prawns.whacko I'm on and a terrific 20 min battle raged which in the end seen my mate climb down the ladder at end of jetty and release the big bruiser.only regret camera packed up only a great memory of my biggest king caught.
  7. lovely array of fish there mate well done, your dead right about the local systems being quite.
  8. Thanks for the great info.Ill cop the tip re. the bull sharks not really into shark fishing but thought it could be an option of our jetty at night.I have a tinny with Watersnake and lure fishing is my passion cant wait to have a crack up there sounds like quite a diverse fishery.
  9. I stayed at the entrance to sussex last xmas and one afternoon hit the flats with the yabby pump as the lures were not producing. After about 40 mins had 6 yabbies very tough going.A local told me they had been decimated in that area for a while just like the pippis where on the beach.Hope you have more luck mate as with anywhere local knowledge is the key.Might pay to buy some bait and see if they will clue you in on likely areas. Its a beautiful spot that fishes so much better outside of school holidays.
  10. Hey raiders heading up to the gold coast for 2 weeks in january are the canals a good option im staying in a private home on the waterfront just wondering if any one has had a go there and what species are on offer.Ive heard the bull sharks might come out to play at night.Any advice thanked for in advance.
  11. The other week a mate of mine fished Thommos and used various hard bodies getting numerous follows but couldnt get a sindle brown or rainbow to strike. In desperation he tied on a small black Kokoda bat and whacko first cast he was on he scored two great brownies and said you could actually hear the cracking sound as the browns mouthed the lure.
  12. Hi mate at simmos your car is a cast away from the water its very quiet there midweek fishing can be great at times along that stretch. The above spots at casula to launch are good to.
  13. Gday how far up do you want to go Simmos beach at Mac fields is easy got to wait till 7am for the gates to open though.
  14. Hi i live and fish the same area and have been here for over 30 years this season has been a lot tougher than previous years ive found lipless crankbaits with a dead slow retrive the most reliable in yellow/green colours. When you get your first it will be the first of many your confidence will skyrocket. Also dont forget the georges river access involves a bit of walking but the fishing can be great and scenery fantastic.give us a pm if you like for some spots.cheers and tight lines.
  15. The two spots you mentioned all produce ive had success at both mainly with lipless crankbaits for bass also some monster carp inhabit both regions bread berley and unweighted bread and corn kernel for bait they can be fun to catch the same technique with a size 12 hook can tempt the mullet as well.As for other spots look closer to camden airport and dont forget the upper Georges river especially if you dont mind a bit of bushwalking Google maps will your best friend here to find access.I have found in the upper reaches of both rivers patience is vital sometimes hours of casting with no results can change in a heart beat.I had a session recently looking like no action, decided to give it another 15 minutes which resulted in 3 30cm bass on a yellow lipless crankbait dead slow retrieve casting to open water.Good luck might c u out and about one day.
  16. Fish the nepean often too unfortunately I always pack a garbage bag in my pack and last weekend filled it to overflowing with beer bottles and terminal tackle wrappers this spot though has a rubbish bin nearby and it was empty go figure.
  17. Ive tangled with some monstrous carp in the upper nepean, corn kernel burley with a bit of small floating bread pieces then unweighted corn kernels on small hook wrapped in bread some of the surface boils are huge when they are in the mood.IT really helps if the area is really quiet as well. Some of the local carp fishos all rave about the Parra river as mentioned above.
