  1. try using a Betts spin. these seem to usually work when all else fails. also get yourself a kayak if you can. I used to walk to banks with pretty low success rates, as soon as I got the kayak my catch rate went up tenfold, and I had alot more fun doing so!
  2. mate I went down there and was disgusted myself, not only has it put alot of pressure on the trout and more so the bass in the system (especially around spawning time) but before the floods you could not fish up from the weir for 100 meters and down from it 25. I'm not sure if these signs disappeared in the floods but they are definitely not there, and I could nearly guarantee that any danglers who catch a fish are no doubt keeping them. I even saw a little dead bass just chucked on the bank. and all of this in a zone usually off limits to fishing.
  3. cracking bass. there's been a few bigguns around lately. must just be that time of year
  4. i think i ran into you in bcf a few weeks ago. great size trout mate. good to see they are pretty thick through the system.
  5. got into a few rainbows this arvo. also saw some massive browns sulking in the shallows looking very beaten up, will have to go back soon.
  6. awesome. can't wait till the water settles to have a crack at them.
  7. yeah she's a filthy flowing mess at the moment. and more rain on the way isn't helping. I was averaging 20+ bass a session before this rain. went out Wednesday arvo for a filthy donut. was spewing!
  8. there's plenty of cod in there too
  9. hey mate they Definately bite through the day. I was even out at yarramundi last week and pulled about 25 fish through the day, just throw a diver on and you'll be fine. mine dived to about 1.2M but I don't think it even would have got that deep though. if you get it right in the snag they tend to smash it the second it starts swimming anyway, either that or the second it hits the water, so just get it right in there and hold on tight
  10. heard there's cod and everything in the dam. but who knows really.
  11. well originally I was gonna purchase something a bit more expensive but lately things have become a bit tight. and saw these for 250 at *** and was considering getting one. Knowing obviously it's not going to be the best kayak you can buy, just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with them? probably just for use in the nepean river. Cheers lads Shane
  12. Goin down there on Sunday, had a bit of a search on google but couldn't find too much. Just wanted to know what I'd stand a chance of catching? Figured probably bream and flathead. What's the top bait? And if there's any hot spots around the bridge I should know of any suggestions appreciated. Cheers
  13. yeah I was looking at the tn50s I'll probably pick one up. Any preffered colours? Mostly will be fishing the nepean river
  14. Keen on getting some new lures for the next bass season, I got some basscadas, kokoda bats, and other assorted surface lures. I wanna grab a few Sammy 65s for this season, does anyone reccommend any colours? Also gonna get some spinner baits and sub surface lures, as I've never really had a crack besides surface luring. is there any must haves? Cheers, Shane
  15. Wish that was me. Wonder what bait he used? Would be interested in targetting that species.

Hey mate I loved your trout bush trek posts about the kanangra/kowmung in the mountains. Was just wondering if you could point me in the direction of some maps of this area and the trails you took and whatnot as I would be interested in sussing it. Obviously not alone and probably not in winter but it's definately something I would like to do in the near future as I live so close, and would love to experience it. If anyone else can be of any help also that'd be great. Cheers, Shane.
  17. G'day fellas. Recently discovered this about half hour away from me. Not sure what the rules on this place are was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction to find out, place looks like it could hold some nice fish. Cheers, Shane
  18. Ended up going about 45 mins past oberon and bush bashed to a small river past black springs. Managed 6 rainbows between us all over 40cm. Stoked! Caught on small celtas and squidgees. Also managed to lose about 5 lures in the trees. Well worth it though! Can't wait to go again.
  19. Hitting up Oberon on Friday so hopefully will catch a few! Can't wait.
  20. Cheers killer I'll have to suss it out for sure. Probably just gonna buy all of these different things and have a go with them all throughout the day and see what works best. Cheers boys. Also, What do trout fight like compared to bass?
  21. Thanks for everything mate I think with all this info I stand a pretty good chance! Also with the powerbait is it the ones that come in the containers that look like little nuggety type things? As I do have a vague memory of seeing these last time I was at the shop.
  22. Thanks for that mate, looks like a trip to the tackle shop is in order for some new hooks, some powerbait and a few tassie devils! What's the best retrieve method for those? Also where are the trout most likely to be? Around structure, near banks or what? I just don't wanna aimlessly cast out if i can cut it down to places that have a better chance if holding fish. Yeah it's going to be ****** freezing up there! Which is why I was keen to chase trout as they are a colder temperature species if I'm not mistaken? I usually go after bass but as the season is coming to an end I'd like to expand to trout for something new to have a crack at. Thanks for all the great replies everyone, any information that can help is highly appreciated! I really hope I can hook into at least one! Shane
  23. Cheers for that lads I'll have to check the cox's arm out, powerbait you say killer? I'm not too knowledgable on the stuff but is there more than one sort? If so which one my friend? Also what sort of rigs are you guys using? Line weights hooks etc, cheers for the help fellas can't wait to get up there and have a go, just trying to make sure I can make it a relatively successful trip
