I am not sure about the area, but from my person experience, soft plastics and hardbody fishing landbased is very hard to hook a fish. There are food source all around you. But if your in a boat it is a different story. The only fish I have been getting are pleagic fish from land based lure action. Also practice your technique and look how other people who catches fish do it.

As you know, there is no all purpose reel and rod. Also when you want to buy a rod for the beach, you want it to be paired with something that is good with the reel you have. If you want something fun, I would definitely go something light. and a 12 -13ft rod for whiting? isnt that an overkill?

I have brought online things before. It is all cheap. But the downside is that if you want to get warranty, it is a bit difficult. Also it is possible for people to con you, are you willing to gamble your money away, knowing that you can not chase after them if things go wrong?

he paddled out 7km. that is extremely crazy. I cant imagine the paddle on the way back home.

I use telescopic rods. they are really light and can be carried for travelling. But what kind of fishing will you be doing? i am guessing landbased? is it fresh water or salt water? are you using lures or bait?

i have a 2 piece catana 7ft for way under budget. You have to do some homework tho. I have caught lots of rats! havnt failed me yet.

not only is botany bay is bubbling atm, so it sydney harbour. There are still plenty of salmons around! the water temperature is still really cold!
