  1. Although i didnt catch any (diddnt try, wouldnt know how) some people were hitting the rock right at the mouth of the lake with some good results, probly the biggest at around 40cm. not too bad.
  2. Hello all, Last saturday night about 10pm me and a few of the mated hit Port Kembla breakwall with soft plastics in hand. Plenty of fish on the sp's with surprisingly yellow tail enjoying a chew on the plastics. Pike love the little white curl tail atomics, and basically every cast produced a decent fish with short casts around the rocks maybe 1m. The wall was packed with people fishing for tailor but they just didnt seem to be there, or if they were they were not hungry. The sea was flat and a westerly was blowing prety hard which made casting at time difficult but we managed a good bag of pike which were returned of course as they are far to boney to eat in my opinion. I was speaking to a few guys who pulled their boat in a matter of minutes before we got back to the car and they told me of a few good runs with jew during the night, but unfortunately could only manage 1 decent jewie which looked to be about the 5kg mark. oh we also got a small occy as one of the boys was bait fishing with pillies. plenty of fish down south as usual. until next time cheers.
  3. Hello all, During the easter weekend that just passed, me and a couple of mates and my brother ventured out to the entrance lake with boat in tow. no sooner had we made it there to my disbelief i had blown a headgasket in my trusty rodeo ute. Got up the next morning with the urge to try the car, we found it would start so knowing the ramp was only a matter of 5 mins down the road we took the risk and towed the boat down to the lake. Once on the water it was a great day with quite a few fish caught. first of all we went and set some crab pot and then hit the bridge for some breamin. There was an abundance of bream when we fished the bridge pylons with all unfortunately being undersize. One undersize long tom was also picked up from the bridge with the little bastard biting my index finger . From there we ventured out the one of the islands out the back of the lake and drifted for flatties. picked up one fairly decent size flattie and a 35cm bream on the drift. Went back to collect the crab pot a few hours later to find a very nice bluey inside. MMMMMMMMM tasty. Plenty of fish caught on the day on the lake, just a shame nearly all were undersize. Went back to the unit and cooked up a nice little feed for good friday and proceeded to start the drinkathon. cheers all.
  4. where bouts in the lake is pulbah island? heading up there for easter was thinking of hitting swansea though but that souds good. thanks mate
  5. nice king!!!!!!!!!!!!! damn i wish i could have latched onto one like that on saturday, had no problems with getting the live squid, but i thing not having a downrigger really didnt help me. What are some good spots apart from the wedding cakes north head for kingies in the harbour, i dont generally fish the harbour very much. i tend to stay around wollongong or botany myself. any tips would be appreciated.
  6. Hi all, Went out on saturday to the harbour due to the massive southerly swell. The tiddlers were everywhere with heaps of undersize snapper being caught non stop. fished both cakes in search of kingies with sluggos, and fresh squid but to no avail. went to the spit and jigged a couple of live squid and hit the cakes again and clifton gardens in search of the kings but none showed up. Also flicked the sluggos at every pole and channel marker in the harbour but got nuthin. all in all it was a good day out with plenty of snapper and a couple of little flatties. hopefully do better easter long weekend at swansea and the entrance. cheers.
  7. top effort mate keep up the good fishing, were there any sign of the botany kings anywhere? definately good snapper tho, and your not wrong that bream has definatley been in the wars. cheers.
  8. Hi all, Went out last sunday to the hawesbury, at about 5am we were on the water and all we managed all day was an eel and one little herring. It was weird, there were fish on the sounder but nuthing would take a bait, fresh or live. Soft plastics around the leases were no good, lures no good, drifting for flatties no good. Im not a regular at the hawkesbury, are there any tips i should be looking out for when fishing these parts. We went from Mooney Mooney to barenjoey head fishing all the spots from the wreck, juno point, railway bridge the leases......... in search for fish and came up dry. If anyone can shed some tips on fishing this waterway i would love to know them.
  9. poeple like that make me sick, fair enuf there are anglers out there who do the wrong thing but punishing everyone is not the answer. popular tourist places have the same problem, the only difference is that public servants are there to clean up their mess. its a sad day when people like that can express such nonsense to the public
  10. at least you got out on the water, i was stuck in an office all day daydreaming of the fishing ahead this weekend. top effort most prob a cobia busted you off keep up the good work.
  11. The kings were out once again in port kembla fishing the buoy opposite the northern breakwall with plenty of hookups but only one keeper. had a 80cm beauty chase a yakka up to the boat, the most amazing thing ive ever seen. trolled toothbrush island with a variety of differnt lures but to no avail. bait used was squid, prawn and pillie with the squid getting the bulk of the action. all in all a great day with alot of kings on the bite and plenty of other fish to keep the wait entertaining.
  12. top effort mate nice kingie, thats what i like to see. keep it up.
  13. no dont get me wrong salmon are great to catch, the one i got last weekend flew through the air after it took a whole squid. the taste to me is dirty which is a real shame being so plentyful and good fun to catch.
  14. cheers mate definately will do, it was my first tym in the boat down kembla way and boy was it good.
  15. Headed out to Port Kembla late Sunday 19.3.2006 arvo with my brother and a mate bout 11am. drifted a buoy opposite a beach directly opposite the northern breakwall. No sooner did the lines hit the water we had a rat king in the boat and a half decent salmon. The kings were going crazy for 6" pink and white sluggos on a quick retrieve. ended up ith 3 keeper Kingies and a few throw back bonito, trevs and a dirty salmon. not a bad way to spend a couple of hours in Dragons territory as a panthers fan.
