  1. Same scenario here, squid came easy but the kings didn't...Only managed two kings today, one rat and a 70s..its a late start this year but a calamari dinner ain't a bad consolation.
  2. Dont feel bad mate..we put in 10hrs today, couldn't come across a single squid, downrigged yakkas over every drop, wreck and mooring for zilch. Its a cold start to the season compared to previous ones but i think in a few weeks it`ll fire up
  3. What a session fellas:thumbup: Ill be out there this weekend...I think everyone else will be to.
  4. Awesome kingies Trung.. I might have to book a NZ trip soon....I think the next time you fish for botany kings it wont live up to NZ standards, but only just lol...Good on ya. Shame about the weather though
  5. Try Blackmores Ginger Tablets one hour prior to going out, its all natural and you wont get the side effects of travel calm ie. drowziness and dry mouth...works a treat
  6. Ripper fish there fellas..sounded around the harbour and inshore reefs on the weekend everything was dead, but thats fishing...How deep were you guys fishing??
  7. On ya Trung, nothing like a plan coming together, especially the first time around:thumbup:
  8. Thanks for the input fellas, appreciate it
  9. G Day raiders, I own a 5.2m quintrex and wish to upgrade my boat trailer (To many frustrating moments at the ramp). What are some of the raiders recommendations? Some important features I'd like are that i want to be able to launch and retrieve by myself, mesh walkway and LED lighting. Any recommendations would be great .Cheers
  10. On ya fellas...Not long now till the water warm up:thumbup:
  11. Well done, we had a go over the weekend in Syd but water temps were down to 15 degrees and the sounder was lifeless.
  12. Good effort as always Andrew, I always get so wrapped up in the kings forget to fish for the other species:biggrin2:
  13. Kings are still around but not to much inside the heads, do your research on the net for offshore reefs sounded them up and drop down fresh or live baits. Providing you have a boat Good luck
  14. Nice king mate , we managed 4 on Saturday all in the 70s
  15. We only got 3 squid close to 30cm hood length, all kings were caught on strips/wings/heads ect, also dropped down a big slimey which was scarred all over by kingfish bites but obviously could be swallowed. Then as the slimey stopped moving i pull it up only to find a head left! Looked like it got mauled by LJs. Ive never personally used whole squid unless i catch them in numbers (8 or more) caught many decent fish on strips and its alot more resourceful. Hope this helps Andrew cheers
  16. Thought is was you, just wasn't sure. Yeah it was strange the leader broke 1cm away from the swivel both times, not the actual knot. And they were well off the bottom. Ill upgrade to 80lbs
  17. We got more hits in the morning
  18. Gday Andrew. Yeah during the tide change, the screen was full of bait fish (Not Jackets thank god) then the kings turned up not far behind.Action was hot for only 40 mins or so then it got quiet and the occasional rats moved in. Bad luck on your Friday efforts
  19. G Day raiders, headed out to Sydney harbour Sunday morning after seeing some promising conditions on seabreeze and the day didn't disappoint with almost flat seas and a light 10 knot wind. Venturing out wasn't to optimistic with the water temp at the ramp being only 15 degrees. Anyhow we started flicking around for some squid and managed 3 fairly large specimens. We now had bait and decided to sound up the harbour with nothing much around so we headed to some of the offshore reefs/wrecks where the water temp got up to 19 degrees. In the end we managed to pull up 6 kings, two over the meter mark and got smoked twice by bigger fish What was i thinking with 40lbs leader?? Very stoked with the results as this was the first time we have attempted winter kings, definatly be doing it more often.
