    A great day!

Spot on Paikea! Northern corner on the drop off! I had the pump but servo prawns did all the damage...best thing is 5 days later it's all the kids can still talk about (and the mother in law!)

    A great day!

Thanks Rob, great time of year to be in our line of work! Yowie, it was delicious! You know it's good when there isn't a sound at the dinner table with 6 kids eating... I hope you're both doing well on the water...
  3. Down the South Coast with a LOT of family! Managed to organise a day in Lake Conjola (boat ramp in Killarney St is great as kids can play and swim and fishers can fish away close by...) Anyhow round 1 was my wife and kids, sounded a drop off and with servo prawns we bagged a nice legal bream. Went back in as 2 year old had had enough, took the nieces out, same spot..bang 46cm flathead, 45cm flathead and a 38cm bream! The servo prawns were working a treat! Took them back in and then took the wife and mother in law out...same spot BANG...4 more great bream... Finally, my 12 year niece and I went back, BANG.. My turn, another legal bream! A great day and a great family fish dinner!!!
  4. Merry Christmas! Haven't been down that way for a few years but had great fun fishing off Tathra Wharf.... Gets crowded but comfortable for the wife, pack a few chairs, lob out unweighted or lightly waited pilchards and hang on! Best time is right on dusk, I remember landing 10 solid tailor off 10 pilchards! Good luck!
  5. As a school teacher, we have used this before, they maybe able to help or point you in the right direction, especially with working with kids... http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/info/get-hooked
  6. Thanks to all for their help and advice...
  7. Ended up costing $500 that was with 3 hours labour. Took the boat out on Monday and travelled over 60km, went like a dream!
  8. Put the boat in this morning, will let all know how it goes.
  9. Great advice, thank you so much. Any advice on how to break it to my mates that we're not fishing tomorrow!!!!
  10. Thank you so much, good to know what I maybe up for!!!
  11. Thanks so much for your advice!
  12. Thought so - by the way it's a 2003 quintrex Coastrunner with a 60hp yamaha. Any ballpark figure on cost if snapped cable?.
  13. Just tried to set the boat up for the first time in a few months for a few hours fishing tomorrow with the boys. Have had trouble with the steering seizing up before and have loosened it with oil etc before. Tonight though, there was a crack and the steering wheel loosened but no steering to the outboard! There is also a crunchy/crackling sound from under the steering wheel. I'm a bit of a novice at this - was wondering of this sounds serious or is it something that could be easily fixed. I live near Hurstville and woud love to get it repaired ASAP! Understand site regulations so happy for PM.
  14. Once again, evidence why this is the best website, I tried to talk him into taking it to Cowan!!! I'll forward this information on and a huge thank you to both of you.
  15. Fellow Fishraiders, My brother in law has a boat with an early 1970's Johnson 175hp on his farm down the south coast near Nowra. He was able to turn it over but didn't stay running, he was wondering if there was anyone local who could assess and repair this outboard. Please PM me as don't want to break site regulations. Thanks in advance!
  16. Love it! Feeling the same, Chris! Thanks for all the advice...
  17. Evidence of why this is the best website! Thank you so much for your advice, haven't thought of the fuel so might take it for a spin and run it down, if only this rain would go! Have 2 weeks holidays coming up so might do it then.
  18. That is exactly what I am looking for Leo, thank you so much! My battery knowledge is pretty flat (pun intended!) so wasn't sure what to do with them, luckily I have a few birthday vouchers left so might go and get those 2 products. Thanks again!
  19. I purchased a 2004 Quintrex Coastrunner with a 60hp Yamaha 2 stroke last November and after a lot of fun over Summer/Autumn she's sitting pretty idle in the garage. As I'm not taking it out regularly is there anything I really should be doing? I'm not the most handiest of people and am planning to get it serviced but was really wondering about batteries (I have 2 batteries), easy engine maintenance on engine/trailer etc. I would appreciate any 'handy hints'! Cheers!
  20. Having a family vacation and am planning of having one day off from domestic bliss and going on a charter while in Hawaii. As always, there are thousands of charters on the net, personal recommendations seem to always the way to go, so can anyone offer any suggestions. Will be there in Hawaiian Summer so happy to chase reef/pelagics etc. Oh, will be staying at Waikiki...
  21. Great work as always Rob! Pity work has interfered with fishing again....
  22. A quick update and a gold star for Shimano! Dropped the reel into Shimano at Taren Point last week, arrived back repaired yesterday by courier.
  23. I actually emailed Shimano direct and they were very responsive, will bypass BCF and go direct to Shimano. Thanks to all for their help, I thought it was just my lack of angling skills!!!!
  24. Bought it at BCF at Christmas and only first use today, hope I still have my receipt!
