  1. Hey all! I hope everyone is having a wonderful and fishy festive season. I need some help!!! I'm going up to the central coast (Bateau Bay) next week for a couple of days. Realistically I will only have one day to get the tinny out for a fish and I have no experience in the area whatsoever!!! I prefer bait fishing and usually use nippers and poddies with success so am happy to collect live bait. Basically any help would be greatly appreciated but I see there are a few islands at the entrance and was going to drift around them, good idea? Also is there a good bait shop nearby if I'm feeling lazy? Thanks in advance....
  2. Not sure how many others saw this on Monday night but there are repeats throughout the week. Great new fishing/cooking show on TVS on mondays at 8:30pm. The fishing part is a top local Sydney fisherman. I'm sure all fishraiders would enjoy this show...
  3. Thanks Peter! I'll definitely give them a go next time I catch one.
  4. I catch a few rock cod but have always thrown them back! My Dad always said too much trouble cleaning them etc.. What are the best ways of cleaning/filleting/skinning etc and more importantly cooking? Great catch and post by the way!
  5. Thanks so much Huey for your advice. The boat is actually with a dealer as well but I live a fair away from you, otherwise I would definitely support you if possible. I have heard nothing but positives about your business on this site. The boat I was looking at was high $21K and I have a small trade but I am still looking at finance and due to a new addition to to the family I might have to put it on hold for a year and have one more year in the tinny. If that is the case will certainly give you a buzz and see what you have available. Thanks again!
  6. As with most am looking at purchasing a suitable fishing/family (young) boat around the $20K mark. Have been researching for awhile now and am pretty impressed by the 470 Breeze from Haines Hunter. My only concerns are going offshore, wouldn't go out in bad weather but would like to pop outside a few km's now and then, is it ok? Also have seen a small amount of comments saying they can rock a bit when idle? Any comments both positive and negative would be greatly appreciated! TIGHT LINES!
  7. Thanks so much for your help and advice! I own the boat with my best mate and so usually have a full crew (it's only a 3.75m tinny) but would love to fish with you one day, any Botany Bay help is greatly appreciated. Doesn't look like we'll get out till next week anyway so will keep you posted how we fare...tight lines!
  8. I am lucky enough to be on 2 weeks holidays and want to get the boat out into Botany Bay (mainly the stretch between Captain Cook bridge and the entrance to Botany Bay.) Usually pick up a feed here in Summer/Autumn with live nippers, basically at this time of year is it worth it? Also, are nippers catchable all year - have a spot I regularly get them in Summer and not sure whether they are a 'Summer species.' Any advice greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
  9. I hired a boat from Atwell's Boatshed a few years back, might be worth a try! Atwells Boatshed - 321 Woolooware Rd Cronulla Ph 02 9523 5460
