  1. I'd like to enter my Red Gurnard of 49cms caught on 5 inch silver atomic in 90ft of water off werri beach on the south coast. Stallo
  2. Hi All, Fished Saturday morning and whilst getting a nice feed of flatties on plastics managed to land something a little bit different. We were fishing off Werri Beach (south coast) in about 90ft of water with a silvery looking atomic which has been doing very well with the flatties. A Red Gurnard is a new species for me on plastic, has anyone else picked one up yet? Stallo
  3. The next session I finally got one and a new pb for me at 450mm. My brother got his on Jackalls and I got mine on a deception. There was alot of algae in the water and we found black lures to work well. My brother didn't have a black jackall so he just coloured part of a silver/bronze on in with a black texta. We also has quite a few hits and misses over the weekend and it seemed as though the fish were more agressive than hungry. My uncle and cousin came up also and managed to bag about 4 fish each with sizes between 430mm to 550mm and most of these were also caught on deceptions too. Overall a great trip and my brother still has a smile on his face, you've got to love it when your first one goes 600!!!!
  4. Just got back from a great weekend up at Windemere. We had a little bit of rain and the wind wasn't real nice but we still managed to land a few fish. The water level was down to 28% and the usual boat ramp was out of action. The ramp around the corner was ok but very busy at start and finish times with some boats waiting up to 30mins to get on the trailer. Last year we only had a little tinnie with a 15hp so it was much more comfortable this year in the new boat. My brother (vjstalgis) was the first to hook up and was very happy indeed seeing he had never caught one before and he was even happier when he saw the size of the yellowbelly as is neared the bank. The fish went a whopping 600mm and was shortly followed by his second fish going a very nice 520mm. What a session and this was only the first arvo! Unfortunately Davesmithy has got one in the record book from last year which went 610mm so it's second place but I am sure he would like to enter it for Catch of the month.
  5. I've got the dark green cruiser towing the TABS with an etec. I think we are staying in Cabin 1? It's the cabin closest to the tent - I think we were the one in front of bushy last year. Be sure to call in for a beer! Stallo
  6. I'll post a report when I get back. Stallo
  7. We are heading up to windemere to chase some yellowbelly next weekend for the cup so I thought I had better see if any other raiders were heading up. Stallo
  8. Bloody brilliant work guys! what sort of depth were you at if you don't mind helping me out a little? Been trying and trying but always about 2 mile out and it is near impossible to get them to the bottom! you guys look to be in fairly close? When we have been baitfishing for snapper we seem to do better the further out we go? Full moons have produced better fish and most of the fish we have caught have been around 5-6am in the morning or 5-6 pm in the arvo. Any advice would be great. Cheers, Stallo
  9. Also keen to find out where you were. Would like to get some livies for this coming saturday. Stallo
  10. Thanks for the fire hose idea, i will be getting my hands on a bit of that. Did you secure it either end with cable ties or wire? Stallo
  11. Hi Kevvie, We went out onSaturday for the same. About 50 odd flatties between 30 and 38 cm and let em all go. I was on the plastics and my mate was on bait. we were off the gerroa end of seven mile beach. Can't wait till they get a bit bigger! Stallo
  12. yeah... he's been getting a few good red rock cod too.
  13. My brother (vjstalgis) caught this banjo last weekend and would like to add it to the records.
  14. Yeah the weather was great - don't think I'd go out there in the summer! Yeah, best bit was no mobile phone reception!
  15. Went out to a place called Carrathool about a week ago to chase some murray cod. River was very low and had a fair bit of trouble navigating it thru the logs. Carrathool is a tiny little town out near Hay. We didn't get any Cod but had a great weekend camped on the river. Big campfire and lots of and even managed to catch a nice murray crayfish. here's the pic of the cray. Got to be one of the quietest places I have ever been. Good pub out there too. Stallo
  16. Hi Steve, We were just knocking fillets off any undesirable fish we hauled in. I'll think I'll get hold of some squid for next time but they just wreck anything you use anyway. As for the trace, I was using a 50lb but they just bite em off, they were nearly getting thru the 40lb wire if you weren't quick enough getting them in! Had the barbie chock a block full of em last night and the family over for fathers day. A little bit of lemon and some cracked pepper, Bloody beautiful even gave the old man a couple of feeds to take home with him. Stallo
  17. I've never tried shovel nose either. We caught a couple yesterday so I thought I may as well give it a go. As for the rig, Large running ball sinker down to a wire trace and 3/0 baitholder hook. The set up is not that important, you just have to set the hook quick so they don't get a chance to swallow it, other wise they wreck the wire trace. We were getting one hooked up then bringing it up to about 6ft of water and there would usually be 4 or 5 following. Then it was easy going because you could watch them take the bait. Heaps of multiple hook ups! Gerringong is 2 hrs south of Sydney Stallo yeah, just noticed the current record. There would have been quite a few over 40cm. I'll just have to go back out again Stallo
  18. It was 50cm on the dot! biggest I have ever seen, that's for sure.
  19. Well.... Finally a report. Went out from Gerringong early this morning. Geez, could you get a better day????? perfect conditions! Didn't do to well with the flatties but got enough for a feed with the biggest being about 55cms. Didn't get too much on the reef but got 3 good sized moari wrasse and chucked a few back. Went down further to gerroa and got onto the leatherjacket just off the beach. Had plenty of fun with them and got as many as we needed. Fathers day bbq at my place tomorrow and there will be no shortage of fish on the barbie! There was no pressure for the feed today as I caught a good sized shark on Thursday. Pics Below. Any tips on cooking the shark appreciated, I think I have about 5kg of flesh ready to go.
  20. yep, they were not real. The real ones retail for US$2k Think I'll stick with the 787c2. Does anyone know the best place to buy one?
  21. My uncle bought a tohatsu as this was the only brand his local dealer carried. It's a 15hp and he has had if for a few years now and it has never missed a beat. Thought it was only fair to post a good story - sometimes all we hear are the horror stories. For his needs I thought it was a good decision and it has served him well. I do think if you are looking at small two strokes it doesn't matter too much. Stallo
  22. Hi Cookie, I got my 115 ETEC 2 weeks ago and have been out about 8 times so far. If you would like my opinion................... ..........Bloody Beautiful! It's on a 5.1m alloy with plenty of gear in it. With the standard prop it cruises along at about 42mph at five and half grand - love my 2 strokes! Shoots out of the hole like a rocket and sounds great. Stallo
  23. Yep, too cold. We have been out about 8 times over the past 2 weeks for a couple of reddies and a couple of flatties. Mainly just been getting heaps of small stuff and heaps of garbage - red rockies, pike, small wrasse and nannygai. Pretty sure it's just too cold down here on the south coast! Better luck next time mate. Can't wait till summer!! Stallo
  24. Saw these at the boat show and assumed they were big bucks and didn't ask about them. They are the ones that look like a video of the bottom. They see very cheap on US ebay - around $200 bucks? Any comments would be appreciated. I was thinking of going the Humminbird 787 GPS Combo which the guy from Blakes told me was a good buy for $1460. It's the first price I have got, so I have no idea? here's a pic. Stallo
  25. I had both, but they have both been worked to death. The 499 was the last to go about 4 years back. It was killed by a groper 30lb circa. Tore the roller clean off the side and left me standing there with no hope of pulling it up! I have considered re-engineering but it is still sitting there. There are 2 on ebay, one in melb currently $100 and one older one in the UK for $40. Both are second hand. PM me if you want to sell your one, I am definately in the market for one. Stallo
