  1. No, but my mate Karl reckoned they were the best thing he saw at the boat show on Friday - couldn't shut him up. I think he liked the fact that there was no bullshit just checkerplate.
  2. I went with $1500 in my pocket to buy a sounder. The only guys interested were at humminbird and they did make the effort to take me over to Blakes marine who had me wait around for an hour + for nothing. I guess nobody must want my business. will now organise it locally. Stallo
  3. Yeah same. I picked my ETEC 115 for the technology side of things. If it didn't run a computer and injection it would not have got a look in. Good to see that yami's 4 strokes are now injected, this motor would be second on the list. Nearly everyone I know told me to stay right away from mercs. Most of these people had changed from mercs to yami's over the past 5 years. Does anyone know the sales stats? (numbers sold each year)I still reckon merc would be bloody high on the list but there are alot of dealers out there pushin em. Stallo
  4. I've got my E-Tec 115 last Friday and it shoots out of the hole like a friggin rocket!!!!!!!!!! I have just got the stock standard prop on her and may look at reproping it later after some advice. I was up in the air on wether to go 90 or 115 too. My boat is 5.1m plate alloy, 120l fuel tank and 100ltr+ live well. I just thought the 115 being the V4 would do it a bit easier than the 90 3cyl especially if fully loaded up with gear. The damn thing is so quiet you have to listen for the idle and no smoke. If you wanted to tow anything (skiiers, biscuit etc) I would really doubt anything would be as quick out of the hole. As you can probably guess, it certainly comes highly recommended from me. Stallo
  5. Yep, went thru the same thing recently. Purchased a 5.1m TABS and the 115 E-Tec on the back is fast enough for me. I went with the Territory Pro which has the full transom and the E-Tec for power to weight for this reason. Stallo
  6. yep, most of mine are shimano but has everyone already forgot the old mitchell 499? Stallo
  7. Hey Mondo, Nice boat! I just picked up my new 5.1m boat on the weekend too. I had to work all weekend and when I knocked off at 4pm on Sunday arvo I had just enough time to take some pics or........go for a quick fish. 2 hours later we were cleaning a catch of reddies in the dark and had no photo's. Will post some shortly. That new boat feeling is pretty hard to beat eh? I am sure you'll have plenty of awesome trips and good catches and I look forward to the reports! Stallo
  8. Cheers Domza, checking the website out now. Stallo
  9. Hi Domza, How long does it take to get your licence? I heard you have to do a practical test now too? My mate is going up to the boat show and he is keen to get his licence. If you know much about what is happening up there some info would be much appreciated. I'll be going, just not sure which day yet. I'm going to get me a sounder/gps unit. Stallo
  10. Hi Nathen, I've lived and fished Gerringong and seven mile all my life. If your coming down let me know in advance and I'll give you a report on what's happening with the fishing and the weather. Sorry for the late reply but I have been moving house and had no broadband for 2 weeks. Went out yesterday for my first run in the new boat and caught a few nice reddies around a kilo each. Not much around in the way of flatties though. St Georges basin is a good spot but has been a little quieter over the last month or so due to cold water temps. I've got the next couple of weekends off work and will be out and about in the boat. Stallo
  11. fished about 1km off gerringong yesterday. Went for a flattie drift and no keepers. went a little wider and got a few nice reddies about a kilo each and a 3ft shark. Just enough for a feed but I had to work all day so we didn't get in the water til 4pm. Got the reddies on dusk. Further down, sussex and st georges basin are usually pretty good. Stallo
  12. Most of the guys I know who target them, never bring them in the boat. As soon as they are close enough in, they get a bullet and are then tail roped and towed in. It's probably illegal these days and firearms laws are much tougher. When I used to fish with the old man many years ago, he had a cut down 22 (no barrel, no butt) but I can't remember ever having to use it. I do rember pulling up alongside a 16ft hammerhead that was eating baitfish, in our 14ft boat - we didn't hang around too long. My advice hmmm... maybe try tail roping when you get near the boat and then give it a bit of slack and tie it off and get moving and this should drown them. Good luck - might make an exciting report Stallo
  13. Seven mile is my home beach. The bait is always like that down there. The pipis went a bit thin for a while a few years back due to people coming down on weekends and taking garbage bins full home. Fisheries then made a limit of 50 pipis, so they just brought huge families down and continued to strip the place clean. They are now banned and you now can't even take a dozen home for a feed! You can still use them while you are on the beach for bait but as per usual, a handful of people wrecked it for all of us who just took a few for a feed or bait elsewhere. Fishing is good down toward the southern end near the heads surf club. Some good jews. Tailor and salmon come on pretty thick at times and there is ussually a good supply of flatties, bream and whiting. Kingies used to be good at the northern end "the hole" but the bottom has changed over the years. Cheers Stallo
  14. After all the options I have added, I won't be getting too much change from 40 grand. But it is hard to put a price on all the it is going to bring.
  15. It's a TABS 5.1m Territory Pro and it is getting a 115 E-Tec to push it along. Stallo
  16. It's finally here, just needs to be fitted out over the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to get her in the water. I took a couple of pics but it was hard to get a decent shot as there was not much room. Stallo here's an inside shot.
  17. Damn, too far for me! The shelf's the limit.
  18. Nice one! Is it looped carpet you want to get away from? Stallo
  19. Nice day out! So where is the beautiful Waitemata? Stallo
  20. That's it. I'm coming to the big smoke! Gotta get one. Awesome fish. Nice work and nice pics. My new boat came in this week and I would be keen for the social but......motor is still in the U.S. and about 4 weeks away! So when is the next hairtail night? Can you catch em down here? Maybe the Shoalhaven? I 've never seen one cuaght but I think I saw one in the paper about 10 years ago washed up dead, but this thing was massive. not sure how big they get. stallo
  21. Thanks guys! Apart from screen size, just what do you get if you jump from 400 bucks to a grand? Stallo
  22. Hoping someone out there may have one or know someone who has one. They look pretty good to me but it is hard to fork out the cash not knowing how good it will be and if it is really worth paying a bit extra for? Stallo
  23. I don't read much at all but I picked up that book at my mums one day and read a couple of pages and couldn't put it down. Some friends have seen the movie and didn't think it was all that good either but the book was possibly the best i've ever read. Stallo
