  1. I have the best luck around the Drums, Posts, Container wall and the Oil wharf.

Anchor, plenty of Burley, plenty of Burley, try different baits and if no bites move to the next location.

Should be a reasonable amount of trevally about. But in saying this the weather and the amount of rain that we have had may have a thing or two to say about how the fish are on the bite.

    Good luck.

  2. Hi fellow Raiders,

Having been a member here for near 12 months, I would just like to say thankyou to the site Admin and fellow members.

Being a member of other forums covering a range of topics, I am always amazed at how posts then become a S*** fight with abuse to other members criticising there post and points of view.

I have not seen any instance of abuse or putting other members posts or opinions down on this site - ever.

Well done Raiders. I wish all forums were like this one.

Lets keep up the friendly nature and enjoy our boating and fishing.

Also a big thank you to the sponsors, especially Huey for his helpful advice.

  3. Hi, before you go "scratching around" on that expensive and complicated engine of yours I would get a genuine service manual if you wanted to do it yourself. It could be something very simple(no fuse for battery charging), but plenty of connections and wiring or complicated and expensive like a faulty alternator.

There are tests that can be done to diagonise why the engine is not charging and I do hope you do not have wing nuts on the batteries.

    Cheers,

    Huey.

    Thanks Huey,

Just as I am thinking. plus I would much rather use the boat than work on it.

Sorry I did not mention. The motor and boat are a 2007 model, but I purchased the boat in 2011 and are the first registered owner and I am under the belief that the 5 years warranty is from the date of purchase.

I will call the dealer in the morning and get some information.

As to the wing nuts. I will have a look and see if they are on the terminals, as nothing has changed from when I purchased the boat. But please advise why the wing nuts are not recommended?

  4. nice catch there,

i headed out on friday caught heaps of flatties and some undersize pinkies , only thing of size was a metre long shovelnose in the shallows behind mainbar.

the problem was we couldn,t get away from undersize flatheads, were you inshore or out of the bay?

Were out in the bay and down off Garrie.

  5. Hi all,

My 2007 175hp Mercury Optimax stopped charging yesterday. If ever I had a better lesson, as why I have two good batteries, that was It. I was able to flick from one battery to the other all day, still have a good day out and not require any assistance to get home. I doubt that I would have even made it home if I have one battery. As I did not notice the non charging until I was down to 11 volts on battery No1.

    Now the problem.

Before I open the cowl, and start scratching around for problems. Is there anything that you all may offer as to where to start looking? Such as fuses, circuit Breakers, belts, leads etc?

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Went out from Port hacking yesterday with a not to bad result.

    2 x flounder

    12 x flatties - only 2 under 40cm.

The main problem was with the jackets. After loosing four rigs in about 5 minutes, went for the wire rigs and after using the wire, we never lost a rig after that, but were then catching the buggers.

Any one else have problems with the peskie jackets?

  7. Hi All,

I have Lenco trim tabs fitted to my Trophy 2102.

The Starboard tab has dicided to stop working. The tab is in the up or retracked position. the motor runs, but no movement happens.

    Any suggestions please!

  8. Hello,

I have a Faria Fuel guage that was installed on my Trophy 2007 2002.

The guage hase broken at the bezzle and I would like to purchase a new one. However I am unable to locate the guage from any suppliers.

The FPN number id is GP7761A. Sorry I am unable to see any other numbers as the sticker is smudged.

Can anyone please suggest, who could help in locating either, this model or an equilivant model guage, either here in Oz or in the USA./ As I would like to use the same connections under the dash and the current sender unit.

Every corner I turn I run into a dead End.

    Thanks In Advance

  9. Lazy Sunday start. Hit the boat ramp at 9.00am.

Travelled out the the container wall (Trevally Alley) and picked up 6 x 32cm plus trevelly and 1 x 30cm Bream.

Moved all around the bay and up the Georges with no luck.

Back tp Bare Island still no Luck.

Then over to the Oil Wharf on the change of tide.

    Total

    1 x Salmon

    1 x Bream

    38 x trevelly - bigest 42cm.

Great day on the Bay and family and neighbours to get a feed of fish.

  10. Went for a drive out to Kurnell last weekend and work is well underway on the new ramp.

Loooks like it will be two lanes with a pontoon.

Poles are in for the pontoon and some minor works are being carried out on the ramp itself.

Sorry, did not have anything to take pictures with, but will do so next time.

Should all be complete in a couple of months and will be a great ramp for a quick exit through the heads, if the drive to kurnell will not be that far for anyone.

  11. Make the most of it while you can mate.

I look back at all the failed casting, the line tangles and falling into the river with a smile.

Then they hit the teens and discover other interests such as Girl's, surfing, girl's, XBox, Girl's, Parties and did I mention Girl's?

  12. Berley up with pillies and chicken pellets, rig a light running sinker and fish down the burley trail. Put nice bite size pillie cubes on your hook, if they are around they won't be able to resist most times. I've seen heaps in Botany bay about 2 months ago and a few in the bays around Sydney harbour.

    good luck

Yes, this the method that I use.

If they go off the bite with the pillies try chicken, or peeled prawn or any other bait that you have.

Also, sometimes they are at the back of the boat, just under the boat, to the side of the boat or 10 metres away. So you may need to cast around a little to find them.

  13. Always go over with the rated capacity.

For example, I previously had a Ford Territory AWD (One of the best cars that I have owned) Towing capacity 2250kgs.

Up traded the Quintrex Tow weight 1800kgs to a Trophy 2102 - Approx 2100-2200kgs.

Sold the Territory and bought a Nissan Navara - 3000kgs tow capacity.

You want the ability to stay in control in case of an emergency.

  14. Just thinking a little more on the topic of greasing up the pump housing , ive come to the conclusion of zero grease regardless of type. My concern would be any sand that happens to be picked up while in shallow water would be trapped by the grease an cause premature wearing within the pump.

    Gaz

    Yes, My thoughts as well.

  15. I think you will find that telwater is Stacer not Savage. I have a Stacer Proline and had no problem getting the paint through the dealer.

Yes Telwater is Stacer and Quintrex.

Maybe drop Telwater a email. Or take a paint slither to a paint matching company.

  16. I have always used the best fuel that I can buy in boats and cars over the last 20 odd years, have never had any engine or fuel issues. At the moment I have a 175 Mercury Opti on a 2102 Trophy and supply it with clean 98 oct from the major fuel dealers. Yes a little more expessive to run, but no problems and low cost servicing.

  17. We got a bag of trevally off the oil wharf before NSW Maritime were of the opinion that we were a little too close to the 100 metre exclusion zone from the wharf itself. Decided quickly that the $500 fine was not worth it for trevally just over legal size (if they were kingfish it might have been another story.)

After moving wider even though we burlied hard we got donuts. Even the tried and tested sp flatty spots were quiet.

    Seacow,

Did Maritime come up to you and give you a warning? Or did you up anchour and move before they had a chance??

  18. We left home at arounf 5.30am and ventured outside from the bay and drifted in around the 50 metres. The wind came up, was very sloppy and not pleasant for a what we wanted to be a casual days fishing. Pulled the plug and went back in the bay aroung the container wall and oil whalf and then up outside the Sailing club.

Came home at around 1.00pm with a bag of;-

    15 x Trevally.

    3 x Oz Salmon

    & 2 x good sized flatties.

Shame about the rain, but not a bad days fishing though.

Next Time, I will upload some pictures, as my mate was a bit to quick in cleaning the fish.

  19. I have always run the motor out of fuel for any of the premix outboards that i have owned.

But any or the 2 stroke - oil injected or 4 strokes have just flushed and left the hose connected. The outboard that I have at the moment has a permently connected fuel line.

I always use the higher grade 98 octane fuel as well.
