  1. I have always sold my boat on boat sales.

    Never had a problem.

You just need to consider that say a $4,000.00 tinny will sell quicker than a $100,000.00 boat.

As mentioned, make sure that it is nice and clean and shiny. I even tyre shine the tyres.

    Good luck.

  2. Yes a sad time for the family and friends of this little boy.

They most likely thought that they were doing the right thing by having him in the car and not have him run around out at the ramp..

    Tragic Tragic accident.

  3. Depending on the boat that I have had at the time. I have always kept my catch alive by adding fresh sea water to the bin that I use or by letting the catch tank run.

If I only catch 1-2 fish and do not want to clean them, I can let them go at the end of the day.

Also, if I am on a roll and the fish are jumping in the boat. I can always release the ones I don't want and keep the preferred ones.

  4. They are sea mullet. A few jumping last week in the mouth of S/W Arm.

Not all schools of mullet head out to sea at the same time for their spawning run up north, and not all mullet go on a spawning run, have seen a few stragglers over the years that stay inside Port Hacking.

Very hard to entice to take any bait. Still a couple of very small schools of sand mullet over the weed beds but they have almost disappeared as well.

    Thanks Yowie,

    As I thought.

I saw a huge school of Sea mullet swimming against the tide, directly under the Forster Bridge over Easter. There would have been 10k plus of the buggers.

  5. Was down the end of South West Arm - PH early last Sunday Morning.

The water was alive with fish jumping, so rigged a line with bread, another with a prawn and then was casting a lure toward what looked like a school of Taylor.

Then the school swam right beside the boat and it was made up of what I think was large mullet.

Dropped the baited hocks in the middle of the school and all they did was swim around the baits.

They hung around for a good hour and then moved on.

Anyone else seen anything like this lately?

  6. Wow that is a good pick up, Aussie Salmon are great fish to bag and quiet tasty too.

    Tasty?

I found them the worst fish in the world with taste - this is when I did not know better.

It was a funny night. Prepared this fish, baked it with care. Served it up and gave it to the family. Went and got a beer. The kids were complaining how bad it tasted. I went off at them, that they always complain about eating fish. I sat down. Had one mouthful. Packed up all the plates. Gave the fish the dogs (They did not eat it) and ordered take away.

  7. Yes, My boat at the time was on a marina.

Did not use the boat for two x weeks and in the time the power had tripped and the bait in the freezer went off.

Was greeted by a foul smell when next ventured to the boat.

Took weeks to clear the air in the cabin.

  8. Yes, get the insurance.

    I have even insured a $2,000.00 tinny.

I wish you many happy years of boating, but what if for instance?

    - You run into and damage a $500,000.00 plus boat?

    - Injure a family member or friend?

    - Damage your own Boat.

    - etc. etc. etc.

For the peace of mind and only a few hundred dollars. Take out insurance.

Do you want to loose everything for simple accident?

Thankfully I have never had to make a claim.

  9. Actually another one. I was at fore shore and had backed the boat in and asked my gf to unhook the boat .. I was wondering what was taking so long to look over and find her I hitching the trailer!! Chain was off plug out and about to lift the hitch.. The look on my face must of made her wake up to what she was doing.. Every weekend at the ramp I crack the joke about it and every weekend she doesn't laugh and tells me to eff off haha

    Very Funny.
