  1. Park on the grass to the right of the ramp. There is space for around 3 car and trailers there. Go early and you'll be fine.
  2. Gday Raiders, Got out for a Jew session on plastics yesterday. No Jew but got a nice consolation prize of a 93cm Flatty. Biggest for me by 7cm and by far the heaviest/fattest fish I've come across. 10 minutes into the session and tick on the 8lb and she loaded up in 3 metres of water in a big way. On her first run she was peeling that much drag my mate was calling it a Jew! Usually they kinda give up quick but not when they are 6kg plus on light gear! After a couple pics I quickly released the big girl and she swam off very strongly and bit my finger through the glove as a goodbye present. 7cm off that magic metre but I'm not complaining. 2-4kg rod, 2500 reel, 85mm Squidgy fish was the lure that she fell for. Cheers
  3. Hi mate, Yeah I have now upgraded to owners. The Halco trebles have held up nicely on the usual 60-90cm Kings but this thing pushed the gear to the limits.
  4. Yeah mate just below the school.
  5. I was out yesterday. Salmon schools are so thick but very focused on micro bait, even more so than usual. Still got a couple. My mate lost a good king on light gear that took a plastic.
  6. Wow thanks for the kind words!
  7. Hi Mate, It's in one of the photo's but it's the red head white body Halco. All colours work though mate. The retrieve is a big part I reckon.
  8. Haha you did a good job mate! I know you were a bit nervous though!!!!
  9. It was painful mate haha.. I think I said "Im gonna get done here" about 15 times throughout the fight..
  10. Thanks to all for your comments. I agree this summer will be a cracker on the Kings when considering just how good last season was. Don't know if I'll beat this fish anytime soon though!
  11. Just your eyes mate, The mat goes up in increments10,20,30 etc... The 100cm is under the beginning of the tail. The mat is pretty faded though. Cheers
  12. Yeah that's the one mate.
  13. A couple weeks back I had some major success cracking my first metre plus king in Sydney. What made it that much sweeter was the fact it hammered a surface lure and was landed on very light tackle. My fishing partner and I had spent the morning chasing snapper around Long Reef and upon leaving made the call to visit a few headlands on the way back in and throw Halco Roosta poppers into the washes in the hopes we could rise a winter king. Having known bigger kings frequent headlands and points we sounded up a thick and tight ball of bait fish and could see some nice arches sitting on the edges. I spent around 20mins working the popper when this beast surfaced behind the lure and belted it with an explosion on the surface. The strike is something I'll never forget. Immediately after hooking it I knew I was in trouble as it made a serious attempt to find bottom. Gear being used was a 8-10kg Berkely drop shot, Ecooda Black Hawk 4000 loaded with 20lb bite motion and 30lb FC rock leader. I usually use much heavier gear for Kings and regularly get busted by them in these depths on 30-40lb. One thing in my favour was the fact that it had taken a surface lure and I had a good shot at turning its head before it reefed me. I locked the drag immediately as it screamed line off and was close to finding the bottom. My mate thought on his feet and wacked the Yamaha in reverse and slowly started driving him out into deeper water. At this point I had to grab the spool and allow zero line pull as he was mere feet from the bottom. Somehow the gear held out and we were still connected once driving out into around twice the depth. This is where the fun began.. For the next 20 minutes I just couldn't gain much without the fish taking just as much back. Once I reached the point of physical exhaustion we could see colour and knew Sydney Kings like this in the shallows aren't something you see every session. I finally got him to the surface where we realised we had no chance of netting him in our small environet. He also had 2 mates the same size follow him through the entire fight. The call was made to gaff the fish and not release it (we release over 90% of Kings we catch). This still was a major ordeal as every time my mate attempted to gaff him the fish would turn its head, kick its tail once and be out of sight in an instant. The gear was pushed to its limit but we eventually got him to the surface when the fish and I were both done and we landed him. My bragmat has its nose guard snapped off so we short measured him slightly but lets just call him over 110cm's. Stoked with this fish and it was an absolute barrel of a fish compared to some of the skinnier metre plus kings you see. The photo of the treble shows how far all gear was pushed and stoked my knots held while the hooks were bent so severely!!! Thanks for reading
  14. I give Mulloway spots around 2 hours if livebaiting. For Kings I move if no action within 15 mins at the most. Often the Kings will be close by and that's where reading your sounder becomes the most important thing to your success.

    Bali Advice

Hi guys, Im headed to Bali in September for a mates wedding and thinking of having a throw at some GT's or doing some jigging for bass and Dogtooth. I remember reading a report where the Swordies had major success with a charter over there. I'll be based in Seminyak. If anyone has any info on the top notch guides over there please PM me and point me in the right direction? Cheers!!
  17. Why the hell would anyone broadcast exact details of a killer session on the internet?? I am and I know many others are extremely conservative when posting about either Mulloway or specific Kingfish locations. I know some blokes are more than happy to help with pm's and that's up to the individual but you have rocks in your head to whinge about not seeing location photos.. I don't tell my mates where my favourite Jew spot is let alone the entire fishing world.
  18. Solid ground swell tomorrow building into even bigger swell Saturday. Light wind Friday but too much swell for most blokes to go outside.
  19. Sweet Reds and very nice Bream mate. I got a heap of fresh squid so will have to have a crack at the Reds soon.
  20. Unbelievable mate! You've taught him well.
  21. Hi Raiders, Just got back from a Barra trip up to Peter Faust. Have fished the location 2 years ago for a 91cm fish and was keen to crack the magic metre mark. Got lucky with light winds around the moon and although they were hard work they were solid fish. Fished for 3 days and landed 6 in total and lost many more as is the case when Barra fishing. On the first day just after sunrise I landed this 112cm fish casting a 15cm hardbody tight into the semi submerged trees. She took to the air then screamed braid off and wrapped me around a snag. Theres nothing worse than feeling your braid rub against the timber but after some negotiating with the electric we had her. The other fish landed were 2 at 97cms and a 92cm that took a lure from the surface. Other than that 2 rats at 60cm.Awesome trip at an awesome place!
  22. Yep and Snapper make great Dory bait LOL! I was fishing a reef off Broken Bay a few years ago. We were catching stacks of big silver trevally and some nice plate size snapper. So I hook something smallish then while im fighting it I feel a bang! Big heavy weight that I had to drag up 100feet. To our suprise there sits a 62cm John Dory with a pinkie snapper wedged in its mouth! Still the biggest Dory iv'e ever seen and boy did he cook up well.
  23. Mate that is a rare catch! Definitely a shallow water fish.

Hi mate, The Bones were on light to medium spinning gear. The first run is such a shock and the 4000 stradic was melting!! The Stripers are similar to Barra as they can live in both fresh and salt and can grow to around 70lb. They pull like hell too.
