Hi All, which beaches have people been catching their beach worms in the last couple of weeks?

The worms havent seem to be around lately.. im assuming its because the swell is 1.7m and low tide 0.6 when i go? i think you need to try when the swell and tide is lower than that.. what do you guys think?

what about this fish? is this also a shovel nose? I was told this could also be a banjo shark it was fairly strong.. Is this possible to eat.. how would you kill/clean/fillet it... and do you have any recipes? thanks

Hi Mate, Well when i use floats like that, its usually when i am fishing from rocks. I can catch, tailors, salmons and other types of fish. basically, i would have my line... attached to a swivel. then i would have another amount of line attached to the other end of the swivel.. slide the line through the float... and then through a sinker... then attach another swivel.. then i would have more line attached to teh other end of the swivel running to my ganged hooks. does this sound about right guys? Or would you suggest another way of doing this>?

Hi Guys, I was hoping someone could advise me on this. Basically, when im usually beach fishing I use a star sinker with a pilchard on 3 gang hooks. However, i now want to add a Surf Popper to the rig to try and double my chances. can someone please post me a link to what type of Rig i need, and what type of knots i need to use for this set up? To be honest, i was just thinking about using a running star sinker, to a 3 way swivel, then 1 leader with the pilchard and the other with the surf popper. I think the above method will probably cause tangles though. thanks

Hi Roberta, You will be pleased to know that i caught my first worm Basically, i was rubbing my stick bag along the water and noticed a fair few worms popping their heads up. it was an interesting site as i did not quiet imaging them to look the way they did. Anyway, i didnt have a problem making them pop their heads out, i just had a problem being quick enough to grab them. After about 45 minutes i was getting frustrated and decided to get my long nose pliers out of my bag and try it out. It was so much easier with the pliers. I pulled out about 8 worms in 45 minutes. The worms i mainly got were fairly small and 1 decent size. but they were only about 20-30cm. Do i need to go closer to the water in order to get the bigger worms?

Hi, Yes i mean a surf beach. so if i was to try to catch them from the surf beach, you recommend i just use a size 2-3 bean sinker and cast into the shallow parts where a lot of the white wave action is? how shallow would that be? casting into water that only goes up to your ankles? or would i need to cast a little further? thanks

Hi all, I just wanted to know the best rig to use fishing off the beach for whiting. Basically if I use light gear such as 2kg line, size 0 running sinker, 1inch of red tubing then a long shank hook..... If I cast that into the surf, wouldn't my rig just get washed back up onto the shore? And/or my rig might just get taken away in the current? I'm thinking I would be forced to use a heavier sinker but then that would mean I might not be able to feel bites if I use a heavier sinker. How do you guys target whiting from the beach?

Hey guys.. are you able to give me some beaches where i could find worms? ive tried a few and havent seen any at all.. its very frustrating as i think im going to the wrong beaches. I live in castle hill... so anything in the northern beaches or gosford way would be good.. even south coast is fine.. thanks

What is the name of the beach? Isnt that colloroy or narabeen?
