  6. is there still a parking fee at roseville if you dont launch a boat ?
  7. im thinking from the rhodes bridge back might be suss, ive eaten fish from around gladesville before without no complaint as the water seems a decent quality, there are signs to say limit your intake though
  8. Another great sesh stormy well done. Only new to blackies do they go all year or mainly through the winter months ? mcgoo
  9. Back in the 90s i worked in silverwater and a fellow worker who live in auburn used to catch muddies 3 times a week in homebush bay and brag about them, we just laught but hes still alive today. But seriously the water quality aint the best for any crustaceans or fish fit for the table. mcgoo
  10. Well i didnt know that hawkesbass, had no idea,i purchased them from+_+_) and on the packet it stated for dow fishing or lures ? They are a lot easier to hook fish though, so maybe thats why. cheers
  11. They give it to you for a bit,top fun. I used 6 lb mono so always in control.
  12. Burley with slice of bread mixed with water to make a VERY WATERY slush, not to feed them just to school them. I use a blackie float with a 30cm leader to a size 8 treble and mould the firm dow (which is made a couple of days earlier and kept in the fridge) around the treble around the size of a pea and just leave the barbs exposed. Even the large fish just slightly take the float down so it must be balanced as you would chasing blackfish.
  13. Had a early sesh down the mighty nepean this morning and landed a few mullet which i was targeting for bait. Landed 2 nice fish and lost a couple of beauties, 1 jumped pretty high and throw the hooks the other wrapped itself around a submered log around a foot from the bank (bugger). Still managed a p.b. which was cool. All fish fell to some home made dow with a little salt and parmesan.
  14. massive aussie spirit fishingphase your a champ
  15. went down to the nepean today and caught a heap of herring n mullet for fun, kept a few of each for bait. i know mullet works well for bait as strips or whole but has anyone got an opinion on fresh water herring for bait,i kept a few around 5-6" i think they might go alright of the beach targeting tailor, salmon, flatties. ???
  16. nice haul peter didnt know bream fell to weed, must be on a diet might head up there this w/end,weather permitting
  17. That would be good matt as i need a few tips about fishing for blackfish. My rig atm is 4" alvey side cast and a 8' fly rod with a+_+_) float (cheap n nasty). I have caught a few on it,top fun as its super lite. Went to huntleys point (gladesville)today put in 4 hrs, the last of the run in and the 1st 2 hrs of the run out for 1 bloody down and missed it,come away with a donut had a shocker but it was still good just to have a go.....cheers
  18. Gyday matt In cleaning blackfish is it important to get the black lining of your fish straight away when cleaning or could you wait to you get home around a hour or so.I know they have to be kept in a swim net until bleeding not sure on the lining though. Been trying to cast the old steelite down the back paddock, funny as, deadset got no idea. I think ill be grabbing the 475b. cheers john
  19. one of the best spots at penrith used to be at the weir but its all changed now, cant even walk along it or fish 100m upstream n 25m down stream from it. Used to chatch 100s of herring there and some large bass.People still fish along the bank towards the rowing club for bass but no size to them.Best option float with earth worms, grubs, insects or can spin lures over the other side of the bridge to the left.
  20. about 7-8 foot, on weed, about 1 hr before full and an hr after
  21. as the title says blackie virgin no more, went down to huntleys point today with one purpose in mind, took about an hour of burly with grass n bread then they came, great rush to get your first in the net as your second guessing yourself am i doin things right,2 hrs later bagged 3 not of great size biggest went 35cm but still blackies. only dropped 1 through inexperience but learnt a lesson from it,happy as larry big thanks goes to roberta and rooster man for posting and sharing your knowledge cheers mcgoo
