  1. I have been pulling donuts for the past few weeks along the northern beaches. I started mixing it up different tide, time of day and baits nothing was working for me. Finally tide and time were perfect last night but the swell was pumping. I spent an hour at Rosie Brugge ramp trying to get a few yakka but could only pic up thumb sized bream and a Tiny trev, the water was still pretty dirty and I didn't want to miss the tide change so headed down to south curl curl with just a few pillies to try my luck. The swell was pumping and the gutters were pushing water along the shore so fast I was almost jogging along the sand to keep my line from swinging onto the sand. I tried doubling up up the stars and it worked pretty well eventually found a nice depression in the gutter that seamed to catch the sinkers as they were pulled along the gutter. After finding the honey hole pulled two fat sambos going 60 and 64 cm.
  2. Cheers thanks for the reply, they are going for $99 spoiled with 300m of braid is that cheap?
  3. Does any one have or tried one for surf or jigging?
  4. A little late in replying but thanks again Damo for a cracker of a day. I'm still gutted I dropped that monster! My arm is still sore and I only had him for a few minuets, I think he was running for longer than I was pulling him in! If anyone gets the chance they should get on board with Damo, the boat is amazing and the crew were gold! I definitely have the bug and have got you on speed dial for our next trip out... Stewy said to say thanks for the day as well, he had a ball. Cheers again James

  9. My pleasure guys, it was a cracking winters morning to be out on the beach. Congrats again on your first sambo and whiting we will have to go out for another session soon. A few pics below from the morning Cheers James
  10. Try and set the drag to 80% if you use dead bait and then you will more than likely have the fish hook itself on its strike make sure your hooks are well exposed as well
  11. Just drift down sugar loaf with a good burley trail
  12. Just drift down sugar loaf with a good burley trail
  13. They have replaced the access path under the bridge and fixed a retaining wall so I would park on the SE side an walk under to the spot. It is only worth fishing on at the top or bottom of the tide as the current is so strong. Plenty of tailor around easy to catch using a blade from the NWest side though... A few squid around the shallows and always flattys and bream in the channel.. You can pick up whitting off the beach on the SEast side of the bridge. If you can get down for high tide at sunrise and though out livi under a float or a pilli or gar on a gang and drift it with no sinker you might pick up a king
  14. Cracking kings there mate there are some crazy king videos on youtube from Nz with guys catching monsters your lucky to get into the action
  15. South curl curl has been during for about the last Month every time I have wet a line I have pulled a salmon or 10 up onto the sand.. I usually chop a few pillies into 2 cm cubes and through them into the gutter when I get there just to get some scent in the water
  16. I am going for a session early Saturday morning at cur curl for the run out tide if you guys are keen to get a lesson on the beach. There has been heaps of salmon around but the gutter is starting to deteriorate so want to hit it while it still hot have picked up 34 in the last week up to 65cm but mostly around the 50 mark. Will be targeting Jew ,Taylor and salmon guys have been picking up flathead whiting and bream on the lighter gear. Happy to show you how to read the beach and a few handy rigs PM me if your interested James
