  1. Shame abt the lost fish Byron....fancy hooking on to a stonker only to have it slip off the eye of the hook! At least we know now there are decent kings around. Mind if I ask what kind of rig were u using aside from the Cap?
  2. Uh uh, aint nuthin is gonna make me feel bad abt my little jewie Besides, if Wakd, me or YOU catch a jew, its like we ALL caught a jew innit??!! So good luck trow! (pls dont one greater than 75cm )
  3. So the fish was "mooching" near the bottom eh Mine did some mooching too, at on point I thought i snagged. Congrats buddy 90cm today, 1M here we come Matt
  4. I got my first salmon(2.5kg) ever on my 2-4kg breamin rod, and boy was I knackered after the tussle. I've also caught a 3kg specimen on a 1000 sized reel with 4lb, this fella fought even harder but never took more than 1/3 of my line out.
  5. Yeah I was smilling all the way back to the ramp, the car, my home, during shower, dinner with friends, during drinks....right up until I hit the sack Sharky I used a 4 inch Bass Minnow in Pearl Watermelon, on a Gamma Darter jighead 2/0, 3/16oz if I remember correctly. At the time of hookup, the tide was running out and current was strongish. Abt the 4lb, boy was I lucky, considering the whole lure and jighead was deep in the mouth. It so easily coulda been sliced then I'd be left wondering for the whole day!
  6. You'll know exactly why at Glenbawn
  7. Gday Veck,a mate and I tried catching Poddy Mullets once, with the rectangular collapsible mesh trap and bread, all we got were disgusting toadies! Maybe u should try the cut out milk bottles? I've seen it on tv and those guys caught heaps. Matt
  8. Yes puhleese Thanks fellas Getting this jewie made me feel just like when I caught my first fish(late last yr) and everything was a blur hehe. I must say, its fun catching big (ish) fish After always going for bream and salmon its so refreshing to concentrate on a jew and then actually catching one. Narra, now that u mentioned it, the fish did look fat and healthy, but it had a small reddish patch on the side which looked like some kind of sore. Matt
  9. Got a last minute invite to fish the Georges today (Thanks Norm, not sure if he frequents this site tho) and boy was I happy I accepted After a few tries trying to get onto a jew with Swoffa and having no luck I cant believe I managed to get one today especially when Bream was the intended target We started off fishing some hulls with nary a hit and then our conversation led to some potential jew holding holes so off we went for some deep water jiggin. The sounder was showing some fish in numbers but who knows what they were. Not long after dropping my lure right off the front of the boat and two lifts later, I felt the weight. Norm had a hit too, at the same time, but unfortunatey his didnt hook on. Dont know abt u guys, but everytime I hook onto something decent I'm asking myself "is it a jew?is it a jew?" and since i hardly target jews thats a real funny question! The fight didnt go for long, probably abt 5mins, which was a good thing, cos I was using my bream specced rod with 4lb trace and main ( funny that, cos I usually use 6lb trace for bream). I was in and out of the water in less than 2 hours, so it was a short sweet sesh out on the water. I present to you....my 1st jew 75cm, 4.5kg
  10. Mr Goop in GARLIC rocks, and its only 10 bucks, and the paste stays on the lure for ages (like Megastrike, which interestingly, also smells like garlic ) Matt
  11. I'll second that! Flathead heaven these places... Matt
  12. Yeah looks like a Grinner, Starlo caught one in the first AFC series Matt
  13. I've had both reels and I just think the KIX is a better all round reel. Only minor (and I stress minor) gripe I had was that the reels are a little chunky (I had the 1500)
  14. Swoffa's right, I also think the Caldia Kix is a better reel than the Capricorn if the price is the same/similar.
  15. Sufferin Succotash! Thats a sight for sore eyes . Hope they hang around til Sunday so me and Bmar can clean up
  16. And dont forget abt the BASS
  17. Let us know how u go with them on Sunday Mick (also let us know if the berkley jigheads are any good too) The ones I saw were in the regular soft bags and it had Drop Shot on it, didnt know they were also available in the blister pack.
  18. Actually u might want to wait a bit, theres a new version of 'bass minnows' from Berkley coming out (some stores might have some already). Slightly different profile and with 'eyes'. They're called Drop Shots..... And ur right, ur hands do stink a bit after using Gulps
  19. Australian Bass Angler (ABA) have a pretty comprehensive range of the SPs ur after, check em out, they also have extra discounts for Fishraider members . Another bonus is they arent that far from Minchinbury! (Penrith)
  20. Ah okies...thanks for that
  21. Eh? Why's that?! Fantastic report Matt, love reading stories like yours.....cos sharing is caring Matt
