  1. Hi All, Summers on it's way and trailer maintenance is on the forefront before hitting the water. I have done some research on two different bearing protection systems, the oil bath (Durahub) and the grease pressure (Bearing Buddy). I was wondering if anyone has used any particular system and has any opinions 'for and against' each system. I have also heard people get these systems stolen? Therefore, is one system more theifproof than the other?? Thanks in advance ETTY
  2. Thats Tops!!! Wish I could be out amongst the Hacking this weekend
  3. It could also be a survey vessel preparing the coast for the desal plant at Kurnell. I believe they are placing numerous anchors, platforms etc before construction.
  4. The fishway has already been completed some months ago. Cheers ETTY
  5. Morning, Yes it can be fished from but the area is littered with caulpra taxifollia. Never had much success myself but give it a go and you might surprise yourself. If not try the sand flats at Deeban Spit - good spot! Good Luck ETTY

    Fishing Books

Thanks all (once again) on your expedient and helpful replies - looks like I'll have some reading to do!!! I am interested in boat fishing, mainly around Port Hacking and slightly outside!
  7. Hi All, I have always seen so many fishing books/publications (some done by street directory companies and others by professionals) on techniques, locations and tips but I have never known which one to get. Has anybody bought one thats exceptional and has given them increased success? If you have I'd love to know which one especially those in the Sydney area. Hope the weather clears!!!!! Thanks Elliot
  8. Lake Jindy is a pretty big lake but starting to get very low! People are having trouble launching as the clay and mud that was once underwater is now exposed. Even big 4WD have recently been hauled out of the mud by tractors! Many new islands have appeared causing a few navigation problems to those who have not been for some time. The middle now consists of a very big island as the many previous smaller islands have now joined up. Good Luck, Lake Jindy is a true top spot!

    Tyre Pressure

Didn't know there was such thing as 9 inch alloys!!!!! There you go - learn something everyday!!!
  10. I thought so too but the dispacement, bore x stroke and weight of engine are totally different with the "same" 90hp EFI FourStroke Mariner/Mercury. And why do Mercury Marine need two divisions both selling outboards???? I hope someone knows - been bugging me for while!!! Need to sleep tonight!!!!!!
  11. This question may sound strange but I have always wondered what the difference between Mercury and Mariner. Looking at the May issue of Modern Boating the specs on the 90hp EFI Fourstroke are different! I have always thought Mercury and Mariner were the same things with different engine covers! Can someone please enlighten me!!!

    My New Boat

I love your choice of options!!! TOP QUALITY Enjoy the H20
  13. Seems to attract lots of little fish of the commonly caught species but never caught anything massive or exciting!
  14. Hey All, Been fishing the Hacking all week since Monday!!! Used the brand new Baitrunner 3500 this week for the first time. First cast after it was set up, I hooked up straightaway with a jeuvenille bream!!! Good Signs eh???!!! Manage to hook up with several other just under legal size whiting & flathead off the beach at Bonnievale on Monday. Went out for a cruise in the boat Wednesday and fished Lilli Pilli sand flats with no luck but heaps of bites. Headed to Yowie Bay to drift up the middle where I hooked up 2 Snapper just under or on legal size. Rest of the day had countless bites but no luck at SW Arm and Bundeena! Thursday, met up with a mate and headed straight to Sout West Arm Enterance. After about 10 mins I hooked up with a 20cm Leather Jacket. Couldn't believe it because usually when we fish together it's tradition that we catch nothin"!!!! Inspired by the catch I quickly hooked up with a similar sized Snapper!!! Again baffled, soon after hooking up with another Leatherie!!! Again we eneded the day using a majority of bait on bites of small fish. To all those people who fear for fish numbers in the future let this be a reassurance that there are plenty of bloody jeuveniles out there as I have now met and/or fed and/or seen most of them!!!! Although no huge breakthroughs in the past week it has been great out on the water. Perfect conditions to rip around the bays in the boat without the fear of hitting any chop or ripple!!! Planning to head into Bate Bay early next week to try out the chrissy trees!!! Have a good one! Elliot
  15. Bonnevale's great for a surf and heaps of fun in the inflatable when it works well!!!! But most of the time it breaks unexpectidly and waves appear out of nowhere - I have learnt this the hard way!!! Dangerous to the unsuspecting
  16. Port Hacking is getting ridiculously shallow and as seen in your case and many others getting dangerous and will cause someone some serious vessel damage or injury. It's been long overdue for a dredge and needs to be done before someone or something gets damaged and somebody gets sued.

    License Types

But when you go for your PWC License I think you sit the General + the PWC section. Does this still mean you can only drive a PWC???
  18. How do you set the length so that the hook hangs out the back??? (not sure what you mean by rubber beads)

    License Types

Happy Easter All, Just a quick question: Can you still operate a traditional vessel (licensed) if you have a PWC license? I have always wanted to know the legislation regarding this as I have never seen it in the Safe Boating Handbook. Have a good one Elliot
  20. Cheers for the reply James, but I'm still confused! Do you pass line through the front of the lure and have it extending out the rear, then attach a hook. If I'm barking up the wrong tree could you kindly guide me to the correct one!!!!!
  21. Happy Easter Raider's, I hope evryone is enjoying the long weekend and getting plenty of the good stuff in. Now the question!!! I bought two Christmas Tree lures from the local tackle shop to start some trolling/casting in Bate Bay. Not knowing much about them i realised today all they are is the lure with no hook & etc??? How do I rig them up so I'm ready to fish - hopefully on Monday??? Thanks in advance - any help is very much appreciated. Elliot

    Rapala Braid

Hey, The line is still on the reel and never really had the urge to take it back as I don't usually use the reel. Bought some more Fireline recently (yet to use) and if the same thing occurs I really kick up a stink!!!!
  23. I have recntly noticed the popularity in boaties wearing fluro "workmen" shirts when boating and I don't know why??? Is it they are waterproof, highly visible or are people just coming home from work???? Cheers if you can shead any light! Elliot

    Rapala Braid

Similar experience happend to me with some Yellow 8lb. Fireline. Had used it a couple a times prior to a wind gust which blew all this yellow powder off the spool and onto me!!!! NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!!
  25. I am so jealous!!!!!!! Bought new tackle to start fishing for pelagics as well, in the Port, and won't be able to use it for a further 2 weekends!!!!!! Save a few for me please???? Nice Work Mate Elliot (I wish!)
