  1. Hello fellow raiders,

I have been considering upgrading my Minn Kota Co-pilot to the I-pilot. The features that make me interested in the i-pilot are:

    1. the anchor function and

    2. the track memory.

    I have two questions:

    1. With the electric anchor, I was wondering whether the electric motor gradually gets you back to the same spot or is the electric motor 'rough' getting back to the marke spot. I was wondering when the electric motor tries to get you back whether you can be thrown off balance.

    2. When you have recorded a track. Does the electic motor then follow the same track at the same speed you originally done it? For example, if I recorded a drift, would it follow that drift at the same spped.

Would like your views if you have an i-pilot. Cheers Squidboy

  2. I have a shimano jewel rod that tends to have 'sticky' guides when it comes to various braids and reels I throw at it. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a 7 foot 1-3kg rid with an extra fast taper. Need a stiff rod for plastics but prefer a very light rod at the same time. No real budget set, just need something that is practicable

  3. Butch,

you appear to brain the snapper well. When you say burley hard do you use pellets or cubes? Also at what rate, a handful every five minutes or a constant flow?

I managed a red off longy three weeks ago about 38cm. First ever off there, so I want to get my rythm for long snapper

  4. Hi fellow raiders,

My bearing buddy spring came out the other night while I was about the crease it up. After removing the nipple and cover I realised that much of the grease had gone.

Does anyone know how to pack the grease and the cover so that no air remains behind the nipple. I.E I want only grease going to the bearing rather than grease and air.

Also, how far out do you boaters pump the grease nipple out to? I have read the bearing buddy must be able to move side to side, but it doesnt answer the question of when to know it is full.

    Thanks for any help.

    Squidboy.

  5. Thanks for sharing. I got my gos up and going now. It's amazing when you use it well the results you can get. I been trying the DPI reef without the most success, but with all the bait hanging off it, it looks promising for the summer

  6. Definitly sounds like you may have had a warped prop their initially. The boat is pretty secure where it is stored, but I know exactly what you mean by the theives. I know someone that go their downrigger stolen off his boat whilst he went to get the trailer. Unbelievable some people out there. Thanks for th advice.

  7. Hello fellow raiders.

I have been asking a few boat places whether it is worthwhile going to a stainless prop over my current alloy one. I run a 60HP Yamaha 4-stroke if it addss further info. At the boat show I havw learnt various things like:

    1.are you towing skiers

    2. why pay double the price

    3. saves fuel.

I am only a fisho so I would like to hear it from people who have tried the difference on their boats with both types of props. I would be keen for efficiency and speed. What I was also told is that the alloy ones break well, whilst the stainless ones can cause gear box problems. Other dealers say it is a myth because the stainless ones come with a rubber washer that lets the motor spin.

I have no idea, so looking for some advice from people who have tried them or even had the bad experience of hitting something in the water.

    Cheers

  8. Nice fish there champ. I did Longy last Monday for a zero result on the snapper but I did land one blue groper which was a surprise on 20lb braid. Any help on the depths your fishing at Longy?
