  1. Uhh, I'd like to say that no, a licence is not a right. As a motorcyclist, I see waayy too many people (especially P-platers) who drive with no regard to or for anyone else on the road. If it was a right, you wouldn't have to prove that you could safely control a half tonne or so of metal before you got your licence. I'm in favour of 5 yearly retesting of EVERY driver. Maybe then some of them might realise what mirrors are for, other than checking if your hair/lippie is done right
  2. The BF has been a bit, Annangrove used to be the best, followed by Heartbreak, then Yarramundi. Apparently at Heartbreak everyone gets a large pizza each at the end (a friend went Sat). The guys that run it are *serious* paintballers, going to big comps.

    Happy Birthday

Thanks guys. Was going to ride to the Dawn Service, but riding in the rain is crap. Was going fishing, mates didnt want to fish in the rain. Ended up having homemade scones and cake, and winning 2 meat trays at the raffles, so not all bad then.
  4. As a rule we never keep anything over 50cm. The guys at the bait shops there are starting to get really peeved about people taking and killing the larger breeding stock, especially while the females are all full of roe. I'm sure all the Fishraiders fish Responsibly, we just need to educate others!
  5. Gongfisho, all the larger ones were sighted, and each one cut or broke either the main line or the leader. We use 15lb Penn line, with a metre leader of 30lb Penn sea-line on double ended swivels. But that's how it goes, we had great fun. At least the FP's knots no longer come undone at critical moments since I taught him a different knot! BTW, had no hits at all on fresh prawns, but we were hooking up using whitebait with a slow flick-and-retrieve. If you have a boat, fish the weed bed between the bridge and the island on the ocean side, and under the bridge there. Some older dude was there yesterday and finished with a dozen very nice bream.
  6. Ah good, I WAS right and he wasn't. BTW, the signs at the lake still say 33cm, hence the confusion.
  7. Well, the FP (fishing partner) and myself headed down to the Lake bright and early this morning. Went up to the top of the "lagoon" and fished the shore from the old breakwall back towards the carpark. The FP hooked and lost a big flattie off the wall, about 70 cm Moved back towards the pipe, FP catches 2 flatties in about 2 minutes Luckily, I bag the next 3, but due to forgetting the correct legal length, let a 35cm flattie go. Then I proceeded to lose a whopper (so close!) and about 10 minutes later, so did the FP (but mine was bigger, of course) So, caught a total of 8 fish in about 4 1/2 hours, with 4 keepers between 38-45cm. Not a bad day at all. There was a young guy fishing up from us, who caught 2 nice flatties in quick time, and gave them to the blokes fishing the other side of him. Apparently he was supposed to be at school, and couldn't take them home in case his dad found out he wasn't.
  8. Well, I'll be there today (friday) nice and early, so if you see someone with a dark green "Outer Edge Scaffolding" t-shirt on, say Hi!
  9. Yes, it was a good comeback, but the interview is not recent. It has been doing the rounds in the SSAA for a long time now. Did I mention I shoot? Funny, I dont think I'm a violent sociopathic killer....
  10. You can smoke fish in a wok, if you have one. I think you put some foil at the bottom and put your smoking chips on that (mesquite and bourbon chips can be got at bunnings). Then you put your prepared fish on a rack above the chips, cover tightly and smoke over low heat until done.
  11. Never been bass fishing before, but happy to be educated. Can only do weekday mornings till 11.30ish or after 7 pm, so I guess thats me out then
  12. Well, they certainly would be different I have seen 2 replica "Mad Max" interceptors used for a wedding in the Hawkesbury. Maybe chase up a few car clubs?
  13. I'm thinking of going sometime Friday, if I'm able to drive.
  14. Aren't we forgetting something here? Sure its sad and bad, but one of the things you learn when you get your licence is that ferries ALWAYS have right of way. Hands up those of you who know some with a tinnie and no licence, and no idea of waterway rules? (my hand sure is up...) Oh, and jetskiers should be sunk.Period.
  15. Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.
  16. Hi guys, Looks like I'll (finally!) be wetting a line this w/end at Swansea. Going after flatties, bream, leatherjackets too. Any suggestions / recommendations? cheers.
  17. I can do it. But maybe that's because I'm left handed/ footed?
  18. I *WAS* going fishing saturday arvo, but the ^$%& fishing partner has stood me up yet *again* I hate going by myself...... and I have to work Sunday......
  19. Thanks Evil. We'll prob head down in the afternoon sometime and leave the boat at home. Sounds like a big night is planned. Enjoy.
  20. Cant make the social , have commitments to be at a Medieval Fair. Catch one for me!
  21. I learned to tow and back trailers at 19 when I was lumping a double horse float and 2 horses to shows. I think if you tow it should be tested and on your licence. Knew a young guy while showing (his at the time was a SERIOUS showie). He would walk around the show and charge $2 to reverse people's floats for them. Never made less than $200 a day
  22. Would like to give the bay a try, were you LB or in a boat? Thinking of heading down sat 9th.
  23. I'm flagging at the Superbikes Friday and Sunday, and going to the bike show on Saturday..... Bikes or fish, its a tough choice.....
  24. Yes, some people. He was really narked when I pulled the flattie in. We were fishing once anchored just under Roseville bridge, in full daylight, and a coxed eight of women rowers hit our boat I mean, gee whiz,......
  25. Thanks for that. Hadn't seen one before or since. Ugly looking thing.....eeewww.
