  1. I like spinning up there!

    all sorts metals and sluggos

    but you must be consistent

    or

live bait under float out as far as possible

    u can catch yakkas there

    or

blackfish and drummer! theres plenty there, live crabs or bread is my pick

Plus Yes its very slippery there, be careful!

and on a saturday if the weather is good there should be a few others there too

    Cheers Jin

  2. I went into daiwa at brookvale in person to get my rod fixed

spoke to the person actually repairing all the stuff, forgot his name but he was great

fixed it in like 2 days i think. If you go in person then i think their more obliged to fix it up quick, unless their waiting for parts from japan or whereever.

Thats like the daiwa head office in australia i think

spoke to the marketing manager darren i think it was.

Jus remembering what a dream job for myself, imagine all the free goodies.

pity none of them are fishos, just the repair dude.

Driving down there was a good excuse to have a plastics session on the lake!

  3. are we talking about west head, cross from barrenjoey lighthouse?

another way is launching somewhere closer, perhaps somewhere in pittwater or even akuna bay

If it gets a bit windy then u can always venture in pittwater etc for cover

plus personally i think your boat should handle the conditions there

    fishing wise,

u will get reef fish, heaps of baitfish and an sambo or jewie if your lucky i rekn!

    Cheers Jin

  4. try sugarloaf bay which isnt too far away from there

that place fishes very well land based

or else i like to just flick larger plastics under and around the bridge

my preference is the runout tide

However you guys are right, the fishing in that section of the system is pretty slow atm

it will pick up tho, the best u can get there is a decent jew or nice flattie or bag out on bream.

theres plenty of livies under the wharf too!

last time i was there, i jagged a 20cm blackfish

    Cheers Jin

  5. parking a clifton is expensive aint it

i remember for me in summer, 1 block of pillies and $16 for parking

for a couple hours fishing in the arvo

However i love the place and its worth it!

U can always park at the top of the carpark

further up from the bus roundabout, where the houses start

and theres a set of steps that run down to the carpark from there

    Cheers Jin

  6. G'day raiders

I was wondering if anyone knows how to access the Murk at bondi

    do u need rope?

    whereabout do you enter from?

and any other general knowledge about that place would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Jin

  7. 1.improve my squidding skills

2.Consistently catch kings in the harbour

3.improve my balooning and drifting skills

and hopefully get my 1st 10kg plus fish from the stones! thats doesnt include sharks

4.Plus do my bid to clean up the stones and create awareness for rockfishing safety!

Most of all i want to increase my knowledge about getting bigger fish!!

  8. Damn i didnt know trevors had a limit of 30cm!

I think the Fisheries should advertise the changes

i mean how do they expect all the fishos to know

and i hope they've been goin round changing all their size guides round wharfs etc etc

or else Big revenue time during the coming summer months.

Of course at the expense of unaware fishos.

Damn, i'm gona make it my duty to tell all the fishos i meet!

  9. Cheers Stallo

Thats basically what i have in mind

i've been hitting most of the ledges across sydney

however i must say the fish are a lil off the bite!

i will definately be heading down south at least once for a holiday during the summer.

I think i may use that opportunity to learn as i know there will be experienced fishos around these spots

Hope to run into some of the guys on scumbags there!

After that i may use some new techniques in and around the ledges in sydney that i'm familiar with.

Very Sad to hear that the ovens is now harder to access due to local residents!

I do appreciate all the concern and advice raiders!

If theres anyone out there headn for the stones round sydney, gimme a PM.

    Cheers Jin

  10. Thats so much for all the knowledge and concern raiders

And yes after much research i have found basically what everyone here is saying

I never fish alone or on anything more than a 2m swell

I must admit all these deaths are really quite frightening!

  11. Tomaree headland (south head portstephons) is a very good spot.

In autumn they get LARGE kings, longtail and bluefin tuna and occasionally cobia, i have also heard that they get quite a few sharks aswell.

    cheers james

    Cheers James

That is one of the places i was looking for!

supposedly the land based cobia record lies there!

anyways i found a heaps of good spots if anyone is interested

unfortunately it wasnt from any fishing forum

however this website does lead to rockfishing hotspots!

    http://www.angelrings.com.au/locations.html

  12. Mate dont know much of those spots but one of the best is at Whale beach called the ovens, you need

a little bit care of climbing down the rock face but is not too bad . Huge fish caught not too many landed though

:05: . Other not to bad is Norah Head Lighthouse some good safe rock platforms

    hope this helps matey

    Cheers Hawkesbry Buoy

I know of and have been to the ovens many time, however i dont like the abseiling bit tho!

  13. G'day raiders

I've been getting into some rock fishing recently and have a found some pretty awesome spots so far.

I think i may get into a bit of land based game in the coming summer months.

Whilst fishing at Avoca i was told of some awesomes spots by others but have found it difficult to locate these spots.

Most of the areas i've listed below is all about rock fishing.

    1. the tubes (jervis bay i believe, video: 'marlin off the rocks')

    2. kiama rocks (kiama i guess but where exactly i dont know)

    3. swansea rock wall?

    4. Long bay jail? (sydney i suppose)

    5. Port kembla somewhere??

does anyone know of these places? i've been told their quite popular to sydney fisherman

or perhaps you could suggest somewhere completely different.

i dun mind a drive if i can be promised a good fish, which is a bit hard to find atm off the stones

PM me if u feel the need.

I need actual details as i will be checking them all out in the next coupla months before the action heats up again.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    Cheers Jin

  14. i like the sambos, hawkes nest is a top place

undeveloped and quiet unlike the otherside of port stephens

love your beach setup there with the 4x4, just missing a barbie in the backseat

and also love your number plate, hahah

  15. cheers for the prompt reply fellas.

i actually already bought the setup

the main pupose was to jig for kings offshore

i also bought a daiwa 2.5kg saltiga jig in blue, herring imitation.

is there anything anyone can recommend, or do i have enough to get me started?

anyone know anything about the daiwa sealine reels??

it says on the box it 'the worlds most advanced light -action ocean casting reel'

  16. G'day raiders

after going offshore on another raiders boat a coupla times now

I eventually decided to get myself a offshore combo capable some bigger fish.

i didnt want to get the best, however didnt wana get stuck with crap either

main purpose - offshore jigging but i wanted something with allround offshore capabilities.

so this is what i bought:

silstar crystal blue power tip, 15kg stick

    daiwa sealine SL50SHK

my question is, does anyone out there have any of the above items....i'd like to

know what it can handle or any problems etc and just general reviews.

    Cheers Jin

  17. Gday, well land based there is plenty of good places

but unfortunately they are all quite congested

it all comes down to what your after & are you gona eat it

if you keep/eat your fish, remember nothing past the bridge, but personally nothing past clifton

in the harbour theres little manly point, pier2, clifton gardens, blues point, greenwich point etc

they can all and have produced decent catches for me over the years.

but most imp is what you want!

if ur just getting started and would love to catch decent bream

i would suggest hangin around areas with heaps of structure, well this time of year anyways, eg: wharfs

    cheers Jin

  18. It was a great day out fishing with you oz!

Pulling up kings from the depths is certainly a different method than downrigging. Over the last couple of years our jigging tackle has been whittled and refined. We must have had close to $10K worth of gear on our boats.

BY the way I have been plagued by that whale for the last couple of trips. He always turns up and the fish go off the bite! Whenever we move, he follows us!!!! I guess we don't have to pay for that whale watching trip.

We are just waiting for that 20kg+ fish to hit our jigs again...can't wait. How's your back oz? YOu are welcome anytime mate. CHeers Kelvin

    G'day

I think i may have seen you guys head back towards pittwater or the heads, roughly 2-3pm two boats passing avoca offshore on sunday arvo, i had my suspicions that the blue one was the noble. Did u guys see the police cruiser?

we were trying to work some of the closer reefs and had no luck.

any chance of a pointer on offshore king rigging kelvin? its my 2nd time and again failed!

There were plenty whales out there, we saw about 6 in 6 hours, in 4 different occassions. No fish but ppl would pay heaps to see that many whales.

    Cheers Jin

  19. Sorry about the late of the report, finally got a chance to post some of my captures during this month.

I went holiday overseas for 3 month, when i got bk, i cant wait to wet a line. March for me is pretty productive this year, not in terms of the numbers, but the quality of the fish. Here are some captures which i thought were quite uncommon inside the harbour, and caught from landbased.

    post-1028-1175318744_thumb.jpg

The second one was caught at CG which i thought was an estury cod. It was released after a few photoes.

    Cheers

    Louis

    Well done mate louis

I landed that cod for ya!

i still reckon february was more productive land based

dont forget to call me when ur heading out next time, so i can show you up! :tease:

    Cheers Jin
