  1. Great report. How does it take to get out to banks from the ramp. With the westerly blowing did you manage to get away from it along the cliffs.
  2. Congratulations and well done. Now you wont be happy until you get a hodlum lol. Well done again and great pics.
  3. Great catch. Are you fishing inside the harbour or on the ocean side.
  4. Good report and great read. Which breakwall did you fish. Kings been hit and miss lately but ive heard a few reports of kings in port harbour and the islands the past week. Good times. Marto
  5. Hit Bellambi reef on Saturday chasing kingfish. Pulling around a live slimey in 25ft of water when the sounder lit up and my rod started dancing. Took the motor out of gear and waited a few seconds when the rod took off and starts taking drag. A few seconds later it slowed down and my disapointment when I thought it was a rat king. Started skull draging it in when I caught a flash of the fish down deep. Then the head shakes started, fish had a another good run and I saw what I did not expect or believe . A big bloody red. My game plan changed and made sure I landed it n the boat. After utter disbelief of a snapper hitting a full slimey live trowling I measured it up going 5kgs and in the 70's. . PS. Tip for fishraiders take your phone out of the boat before washing. One new Samsung Galaxy gooone but the snapper still left me with a smile on my dile. PPS. Quintrew 480 I changed my fishing hat just for you LOL
  6. You can get squid directly at the ramp off murrays. Live slimeys or yakkas at middle grounds (look for bunched together in middle of where) I havent fished down there for a few months but I reckon drag a live bait along the cliff/ledges you'd be in with a shot.
  7. Great catch sounded like a good day. Unfortunately the guys taken undersize fish never seem to b there when fisheries are. Hopefully they get caught one day and learn a lesson. Good catch once again mate. Marto.
  8. New saragossa went sic with plenty of balls and done it with ease. As for the hat its been through the wash one to many times but its a favorite so itl do lol.
  9. Headed out with a mate around a reef near Wollongong this morning with the intention of chasing kings. Like so many times this seasons hopes were high but the regular appearance of rats leaves you wondering. Anyway loaded up with slimeys and stared pulling the first one passed a inshore rock ledge when it gets nsiled and literally thrown in the air. Putting the reel in free spool and seconds later off she go's screaming off. Several minutes later my first decent king for the season at 105cm. A couple more passes past the same area with a second hook upa 85cm king. All in all a great day and finally a relieved fisherman to get a couple of the bigger ones over the rats. Cheers Marto
  10. Believe it or not I looked for them on ebay today and cant find the bloody thing. Didyou get the last one or do you know where else to get them. Would you have the contact for the site to ask?
  11. Wish2fish. I was looking at the same downrigger last week and prob going to get one. By the sounds of it they seem to get a positve report. Just curious and making sure! You happy with it. Did you figure out the depth counter? Cheers marto
  12. I used the fg knot 60 braid to 100pd leader and went out today throwing a stick bait. It seemed to go through the guides fine. Swell was up so didnt fish so cant tell you how it rated strentgh wise but I think it has alot to do with how good you are at tying the knots.
  13. Where are u launching from. I think Murrays ramp opens back up this friday. Keep us updated if you get any action. Im hoping to get down there next week. Good luck.
  14. Well done Groper. Good to see you trying the plastics and better that you caught some reds. It took me a couple years to be convinced and switch but I'm 100% converted and can't recommend them enough. My boats never smelt better lol and I believe that you may not get big numbers like little pans size squire you will get the big ones that smash them. Ill b waiting for your next report showing us your new PB.
  15. Good to hear and at least the rats are around. Did you find it easy getting your live bait and which areas were you trolling. . Cheers MARTO
  16. Good report. I couldn't think of a better way of meeting a fellow fisho then to giving a hand when in need. I must say that living in the area my whole life that was a pretty bad day at the ramp. You could have surfed on that surge. Anyway all good brother and I would imagine any decent person would have done the same thing. . Hopefully see you soon. . MARTO
  17. DTROJAN-my next goal is to get stuck into the kings. Fingers crossed by the end of the month they will move down from Sydney down around here. Cheers Noobie. This one was caught in approx 110ft. 110ft using 3/4 oz 7/0 TT jigheads. Caught this fish later on in the morning about 10sh just after lowtide. It did put up a good fight and had several really good runs before I got the better of it and got it to the boat. Finally got to see it then It had one last decent run and by the that time the heart was in my mouth thinking I was going to drop it. lol. I was dead sticking. Dont know why this constantly works as Ive seen alot of the better fishos constantly catching big reds doing the same so I just watched, learnt and it works. Cast ahead of the drift, leave the bail arm open and wait for the line to peel off the reel. Most of the time it gets smashed on drop.
  18. After a great run past couple months ive capped it off and finally got ny wish with my goal of a 5+KG red. Headed out off bellambi this morning flicking my trusty Zman XL plastics when the pflueger reel screamed out like an out of contol train. Several minutes later I achieved what I was hoping 82cm red weighing in at 5.830kg gutted and clean. To top it off I met a fellow raider down the ramp Quintrex480. Great to catch up mate. . PS. added the extra photo for the catch of the month. Forgot the take the photo before cleaning it (thanks quintrex480)
  19. Cheers mate. Im not complaining but Id like to crack a 80cm fish this season but I'm not being greedy and stoked with the fish i've caught the past couple of months. Thanks Jenno64. It was blowing from south early so slept in. The wind only backed off around 10'sh so it was a late one but high was at 11 which worked in my favour. I have been getting them anywhere between 100-170ft. A good guide and you pretty much cant go wrong is head out of Bellambi to the coal ships. Where the closer ones anchor is the depth and area they have been getting caught.
  20. Fished over high tide this morning off Bellambi. Little to no current and water dropped to low 19's but managed to get 2 nice reds. Zman XL done the job again.
  21. yeah I cant believe how many mutton birds are around this year. If it moves their all over it making it hard to get through them. Definitely very frustrating at times
  22. Tough fishing off bellambi this morning. Wind and current drop around 8am leaving no drift. No complaints as it was a cracker day and managed 1nice red. 8" zman done the job again with 1/2oz jig head. Red went 72cm just over 4.5kg.
  23. Tough fishing off bellambi this morning. Wind and current drop around 8am leaving no drift. No complaints as it was a cracker day and managed 1nice red. 8" zman done the job again with 1/2oz jig head. Red went 72cm just over 4.5kg.
  24. yeah it's not to bad. It gets abit of a surge and side wash when the swells up but part from that its good
  25. A white Ally craft 5.35. Nothing flash but does the job. I'm pretty sure you were just in front of us launching in the morning. Cant complain about the day hey. Started off windy but ended up a cracker and even better when the reds are on.
