  1. Pick up some rocks and dig, they are there.
  2. Yes worms from the bank are the go and Yabbies can be found turning over rocks on the shoreline. I'm not sure on traps in the dam etc. You'll run into bass, catties, carp, yellows and silvers fishing this way.
  3. SLSA have undertaken risk assessment on ledges up and down the coast being. The first step in the formal risk assessment process is to ELIMINATE the risk, i.e compulsory jackets. I’m not a fan and won’t be wearing a jacket no matter the outcome. How about instead of another nanny state approach we actually address the problem of over representation of anglers from Asian backgrounds in rock fishing deaths which is sharply driving up fatality figures. Unfortunately Rec Fishing bodies and even the SLSA have been working with anglers of Asian backgrounds but the message does not seem to be getting through. Deaths will occur if anglers continue to fish in in-appropriate conditions. My opinion is that jackets are only going to encourage anglers of any nationality to fish in conditions they otherwise wouldn’t due to a false sense of security from wearing a jacket or floatation device. Yes I have completed the survey……. S
  4. 8/0 straight through the shoulder!
  5. Heyzeus de Christos, that's one mighty silver!
  6. Statistic waiting to happen?? Please for your own sake take care, the are no freak waves just variations to conditions. I've had the misfortune of fishing on a very flat day and having a 1 metre plus green wall come barrelling in over the ledge, luckily we saw it coming and we ran up as high as we could, the pools, packs and buckets weren't so lucky! Well done on releasing the fish form the pools. Saboo
  7. 3.5 - 4.5 gram, and don't believe the hype re $20+ jigs. We've run side by side tests when they are firing and quiet, sub $5 jigs for me any day of the week. You'll find its more technique and being in the right areas that will pay off.
  8. Meh......... Pollution, cancer, a bus, a shark, nuclear winter, reaching into a rock pool to grab a crab and a blue ring gets you, you'll go one way or the other. Live life, worry about it when you have too. Nothing better than swimming out the back past the breakers on a surf beach

  11. Good one Dave, I did a similar thing a few years back when I saw one shallow water. I find suspending minnows work a treat. They generally won't react to the lure and take it on the way past like a bass, you have to bring into the fishes view slowly and let it sit still. Sometimes they will slurp it up and other times the will completely turn their noses up at them. I've had them take plastics as well. I now get more doing this than I do with bait, clear relatively shallow water is the go. Once you start looking for them its amazing how may you will see.
  12. Not exactly what you are after but if you had a spare spool you could top the existing braid with mono using an FG knot then reverse it back on to the spare to use the last of the braid and then start afresh when it's spent.
  13. Yep but you pretty much need to be on the dole to fish it! Access there is ridiculous. Good fish, there are plenty of nice stretches along there for that sort of thing.
  14. E10 will separate without a fuel stabiliser over time, not the best.
  15. Great shots! Stick with the light gear. We regularly pull 6-8kg carp on 2kg mono(my seven year old even gets into them). Getting caned is all part of the fun, you will be done by a few but you'll also get your share. The ones in your pics look like prime targets for small hardbodies......... Cheers, Saboo
  16. I was fishing the stones on the CC on Sunday and it was Mutton Bird City!! Thousands upon thousands of them from sun up to around 11am. There were big schools of something unidentified going nuts a couple of km's out but the birds weren't interested, looked like they had somewhere better to go..........
