  1. yep you can get these rods in Australia

Where can you get mc works in australia?

I've ordered them directly from Japan. The only problem is you must check regularly for stock.

Plus they rarely make overheads unless you can get custom order. Again hard unless you have contact or a japanese resident. They take 6 months to make and thats not even a promise

I'm very interested to know where in australia. I'm very keen on a few more rods but i want custom and if there is a contact here who can help, i'll throw cash at them.

  2. ok...not lower quality but different. but yes i would expect performance and longevity to be the same

you can certainly feel the difference though. i did find the the japanese smoother and that was before i was told where they'd come from. this goes with the torsa's too.

Hmmm .. I am not sure if they are lower quality. They all run the same bearings and gears. There are a few minor exceptions on bearing typs but again, minimal difference. The main diffeences tend to be handles, spools and drag knobs. I have 10 Stellas of various model number. I have 6 x JDMs (Japanese domestic market) and the rest are US/Australian models (think FD & FE). There isn't any difference in terms of performance or longevity.

  3. Rods and reels ain't cheaper but you are buying quality.

A Stella here is a lower quality than a Stella there for example. Although you must try them side by side to notice the difference.

Buys stacks of lures as they are still much cheaper. They fish for bream, jewies (japanese meagre), snapper (madai), kings etc regularly in their waters. So pretty much any lures should work back here.

Be warned they have more lures to attract fishermen than fish too. I bought 2x $100 (after coversion) GT poppers just because they look nice. And they don't even come with hooks!

  4. I was driving to get some more seasick pills from this chemist. As i drove past, the shop is completely empty. Didn't stop to see if there was a sign if it had moved as there were no parking.

Does anyone know if they've closed for good or moved elsewhere?

    I hope they've only moved!

  5. the new daiwa mmonster mesh max seem pretty good. they are very thin and light. if you saw them you thought they were bream rods but are very powerful.

i've got the saltist ld which is for overhead but the monster mesh is very similar. i'm very happy with the salitst

  6. I've completed uni for a while now so most of these book will probably not fit into current cirriculums. I have thought about throwing them into the recycle bin. But i am giving them away hopefully someone will find a use for them and are in very good condition. These books might be dated but the concepts are most liekly the same. To give you an idea of the books, i completed electical engineering with a bit a software & telecommunications engineering.

So if you have a child, grandchild, niece, nephew, mate or yourself who might be interested in these books, please PM me.

  7. I've been trying out Plano Liqua-Bait boxes and so far its been very good. doesn't stop your packets leaking but does stop juices leaking from the box.

check them out at plano. i got both the large and small, the extra deep is too big to fit to into a backpack so i got the small one as well. i like the small containers that come with it too

  8. can you afford another similar setup?

i only say that is you might want a 20-30lb setup too. there are a lot of rat kings in between your bigger ones. a lighter setup will give you some more fun on the smaller kings. but at the same time give you a heart attack when a bigger one jumps onto the lighter outfit. its all part of fun though

  9. They've all got the same diameter. If they all follow the Japanese standard, the number that follow PE represents the diameter of the braid not the breaking strain.

    Ie. PE5 has a diameter of 0.369mm, PE6 is 0.404mm etc

An example is YGK Jigman and YGK Jigman X8. Normal Jigman PE6 breaks at 70lb whilst the X8 PE6 breaks at 87lb. They both have same diameter.
