hey! went to port hacking this morning, on the water about 5. planed to chase some flatties with plastics. caught plenty when i was a kid n had no idea, but cant get one at all now. just driftin down the channel (thanks davemmm probably just timing out)with i think texas rigged plastic(sinker,swivel, meter leader & worm hook) givin a little jig now and then. got no flatties but i did get my 1st soft plastic catch with 2 unfortunatly estury cod!(red rock cod) and i had the tails and sides munched of about 20 plastics. are estury cod (red rock cod) usual by catch for flatties? whats eating my plastics?(under sized fish, or just pickers) luke

g'day andy welcom to fish raider! i bought a pump about two years ago cost $50, after buying live nippers from the bait shop $10 for 10. well on my 1st outing i pulled up 20 and my next i took out my mate and got about 30 pump paid for my next outing i grabed 40, ive been fishing 50 times since and never paid for bait!!!! oh and the fish love em!!! youll still catch littlies sure but youll also get the bigies. some times five casts in a row the bait dont even hit the bottem and im on!! just make sure theres nippers in your area available too pump 1st and around those areas will also be the best spots to fish em as their natural feed for the area! fish light for bream flatties whiting trevally ect. good luck!

i think you postie likes to fish. youd think those loyal subscription customers would be the ones mor entitled. i get my 1st subscription issue next month and if theres no lure but the ones in the shop have em ill be straight on the phone!

hi plankton, welcom to fish raider! i was delivering some goodies to spencer store last week, over heard customer saying the jews were on and braging that he caught one bigger than the store keepers most recent, maybe if you pop into the store they might be able to fill you in!

ive seen these lures work well on flatties. cos they sink. just work em like your bouncing a soft plastic. let em sit on botton, every now n then pull em up a meter or so , n let em sink back down!

hey peoples! went to clifton gardens this morning arived about 4:50. not 1 bight on peeled prawns. the guys next to me got 1 king 55cm. a young kid from up the street hooked 1 on his kids combo with a piece of chicken, but got snapped off. apart from that not one bight on the whole warf. i left at about 10. very quiet.

well done kingsrule! back to school next week! i have a questin too, how do ya catch yakkas? same burly, small section of peeled prawn, no.8 or so hook? float? unweighted? any advice!

same reason i like to fish there! also for this reason you should be using fine leader as the bigger fish are more weary and smaller fish will take just about anything. make sure you use the lightest sinker that will do the job. maybe try some burly. there is a warf in gunnamatta bay where the ferries dock, you cant fish here in the day but at night ive caught some good bream, they love live nippers and just drop your line straight down next to the warf! around to the right just past the boat ramp you could try for some whiting, or round to the left past the baths you could try for whiting or flatties even bream on and around the sand flats( try when water is coming up over or receding from the flats) good luck keep us posted!

g'day boof. may not be due to polution, fish are affected eaisly by water conditions such as temp change, also with that little waer and no fresh water coming in the toxins in the water (nitrites,nitrates) from general fish living, eating shiting breathing, may be on the rise. if your real interested in what the disease is you could try looking at disease section on a fish aquarium site! good luck

throw small amounts regulally where you are putting your bait or put ur bait where your burly is going. best to keep the fish held where you want them and on the bite, but not feeding them!

thanks fuj, actually that channel was one of the few spots i didnt try but i sure will next time. as for the nippers yeah i tried there but at the top of the tide, ill have a go as the tides coming over the flats. and thanks again for your reply!

hi guys, got the boat out today 13' tinnie 15hp, fished port hacking with my neighbour, caught about 20 little squire between us, my neighbour caught a 35cm bream and i got a 38cm whiting all on unweighted nippers in gunnamatta channel. also tried trolling some lures a few different ways also tried on flats, in channels, looking for flatties. i have tried a few times in the port to target flatties with out any sucess, can any one give a few pointers!
