  1. Got the exact same, great pairing, I run one spool with 4lb and one spool with 6lb fireline. Mine is the Berkley spin rod Drop Shot DPS721 7'2" 2-4kg 1pce Cheers Jill
  2. Hi Rockyjack and welcome to the forum. I have heard that big Jewies are often found on the northern wall. Yep, the Snapper like it after a good stir up. Reckon I will have to get myself up to Port and give them a try. Jill
  3. Hi Dan I live 70kms away from Port, I shop there but have not yet fished there. Have a 12' tinny and not yet put it in the river either. Wow, I'm a shocker eh! I must get my act together. Which breakwall are you on, northside or southside? I spent a fortnight at Camden Head recently and lots of time fishing on Washouse Beach. While there I noticed a fella fishing from the rocks near the point, maybe it was KINGvirgin. Might catch up with you sometime up that way. Jill
  4. Pete, that's the Coastal Rescue building on the breakwall at Forster. Great time you had Roberta, wish they had been on the bite during the Blackfish Social, never mind, always next year! Which spot was the fella fishing for the Bream? Jill
  5. Sure makes you want to hop a plane to Tas eh! Jill
  6. Who's a happy chappy, I am very envious, makes my 12' tinny look rather tiny. Have fun Bob. Jill
  7. Well done Donna!! Thanks for all the hard work you do for all of the Raiders, giving us this great site to meet new friends, share our stories etc. Then there are the workshops, socials etc. We know its a HUGE committment, both time and money and we thank you for that. 2000 posts, unbelievable! Jill
  8. Welcome Seazar. Great catch. That's one big lot of sashimi....YUM! Jill
  9. Bream have been off the bite of late...well done! Jill
  10. Hi Col Good choice, we have two Stihl chainsaws. They tell me old Telstra workers make good fisher folk...lol Good to see you got the "faces" working. Jill
  11. Hi Col The clickable faces appear on the left of the screen when you are typing your messages/reports. Put your cursor where you want the face then click on the face on the left that you wish to use. Hope this works for you. I hope you bought Pat an easy start chainsaw otherwise she may need to do weights at the gym to get the strength to overide the compression Bye now Jill
  12. Colbra, that is some catch! I have not had this happen to me...yet...lol Jokes aside, that is one serious flattie, well done. Jill
  13. Hi Col I guess those of us newbies to Blackfish will see weed everywhere now...lol Got to ask, why the chainsaw? Its me that lives on acreage Jill
  14. Hi Colbra What a top shot! Could sell this pic for artwork master for a postcard. Digital or SLR, I have both, the SLR (Minolta SRT303) takes great shots because it allows me to get the shot I want. For those interested, my digital is a Nikon Coolpix. Cheers Jill7779
  15. Hi everyone OK, the fish were not on the bite ,but, hey, that is fishing!! There are other matters to consider, location, relaxation, the new friends you make and just having a great time with like minded people! Peta and I had a ball!!! We would like to thank everyone for making us feel very welcome and very much a part of the "fishraiders group". Stewy and Donna, your forum rocks, thanks for giving us all a place to meet, swap stories, make new friends and have these fantastic socials. To Roberta, what can we say? Your blood is worth bottlin', you are a treasure! Your gesture at the presentation came as a complete surprise, we were quite speechless and very moved. Thank you for the time you spent with us teaching us the finer points of fishing for Blackies. This covered rod and line set up, knots, you name it, gosh, so much knowledge and given so freely to "the girls" you met on the forum The Sunday worm catching class was good fun and the backside had a break from the hard seats in the tinny. Outdoor Dan, Roberta, Colbra (Col), Jill7779 and Sails (Cameron) learning the art. I finished the day joining Coolamon, LadsLad, Sails and Peta on the wharf, not a lot happening but did catch a couple of sand whiting on worms caught earlier in the day. Great time had by all, will be back next year! Jill and Peta
  16. Hi Bream Mad Can we have some details on your rod and real please. Nice bream! Good report. You sure had better luck than I this week. Jill
  17. That is one hell of a squid! Well done and congrats, sure hope nobody was in the way of an ink squirt ..... Jill
  18. I saw that fish on tele, nearly choaked on my coffee. Positively H U G E!!! Jill
  19. What I want to know is...who took the pics?....what were they in or on when taking the shots? Doesn't look right to me! Jill
  20. Hi Coastie This is the latest fishing report on Lake Macquarie..... LAKE MAQUAIRE/SWANSEA: Rain, rain and more rain has been falling lately and this can only be a good sign for the jew as it should flush the fish out of the tributaries and a full moon on the weekend. Cobia are starting to be taken in the channel as a female angler landed one and didn't keep it??? but took the pic down to the warehouse to identify the catch. Madman and his father caught one just under a metre on the western side of the trench and a nice bag of reds thrown in as well. Vinnie reports of bream being taken from the jetties at Elebana on small poppers with the unusual catch of a mullet taken whilst the lure wasn't being worked. Flathead are the pick of the species at the moment with most areas of the lake holding good eating sized flathead. If luring from shore try Naru Inlet, Wangi rock ledges and Green Point bay as they are all firing, just remember to let the larger one go if you have a feed as they dont turn into breeding females till they get up to the 2kg class. Bream are being taken at the potholes and the barge on sun up and sun down on mullet strips and waykel's prawns.....Anthony (Lake Macquarie Fishing Guide) Cheers Jill
  21. G'day everyone Can you please add Jill7779 and Peta to the list of attendees for this event, total novices for this fish We are soooo keen, we have already booked a cabin and will be onsite for a week starting 28th May! Roberta, we would just luv to join your worming classes. Jill
  22. Congratulations, good looking catch Bream Mad. I'de be stoked too if I had caught that salmon. Well done! Jill
  23. Great Simon, nice bream, drought broken, now the big fish will have to be on guard...lol Know that feeling when the catch just doesn't make the grade, my last outing was eight fish all just short by one or two cm. Jill
  24. Wow Ray, those flatties are just AWESOME!!! Must have been a real hoot bringing them in. I bought somes lures from fishfinder Tony last week, itching to have a crack. I've not ever used lures before so should be interesting but you have surely given me some inspiration. Jill
  25. Your day may have started out a bit on the rough side, pity about the rod, but that sure is a nice catch! Thanks for the laughs guys, my fishing trips are boring in comparison to yours. Jill
