  1. Hey Burnsie, I live in glenmore park and would be happy to join you. with work would only be able to go on a weekend though. BTW I havn't had any luck catchin bass yet
  2. Hey Snuggles, Nice report, that would have been an awesome feeling finally reeling it in especially on the light gear you had. Cheers Matt
  3. Hey Jezza, I've watched a couple of videos on youtube where they were using softplastics on the surface. As iceman said cicada soft shells are pretty good i have a couple of black ones. With carp I have heard of corn, never caught one on corn yet. When i target them with Pred-a-tor, we use a small j hook with bread on the surface. Must success is late afternoon, burley up with bread and soon as you see them take it, throw your line out and wait for them to smash it. We fish fairly light, 4lb braid with 4lb leader, they are loads of fun. Cheers Matt
  4. Hey mate, We use a double rig with snelled circle hooks. Weight is on a dropper between 80-110g depending on swell and current. Drag is set really light. Bait - california squid or strips of mullet.
  5. Hi Huy, I went to Dee Why with Pred-a-tor (Stan) on Friday night. We fished the outgoing and incoming tide for only sand crabs. We caught probably 20 between us. We fished up near the lagoon and then the pole near the middle of the beach. Glad you had some luck though. Cheers Matt
  6. Nice write up stormy, it's funny I can always wake up early for something I want to do, I would have been there early if I was them. You obviously know what you are doing. Nice fish
  7. Stan, Don't make fun at the size of my fish, it's not the size that matters remember and it was my first fish caught on a hard body (ghost vibe). I still think I have caught the biggest carp and we will see this arvo who gets the biggest. Ving, they are bread immitations. Cheers matt
  8. Hi Raiders, Well the title says it all. I AM FINALLY OFF A DOUGHNUT. Went for a quick carp session with Pred-ator yesterday when we got home from work. We got their about 5:15 so there was not much light left, about half an hour. Threw out some bread and on the first cast was on. Didn't put up much of a fight, Stan said I had enough drag on to fight a marlin. Fish was probably in the 50's and weighed 2-3kg. Stan was persisting with the fly rod and casting to where the fish were eating the bread up the top and getting nothing so switched to his spin rod. First cast and was on. His carp was in the 40's and weighed about 1-2kg, so I FINALLY OUT FISHED HIM and will never let him forget it. Photos to come. Both fish were released so we could catch them another day. I know from reading other reports people say they are a pest and throw them in the bin, but we live in the suburbs and its a 5 minute walk to the lake and its fun to be able to go after work when you can't make it out anywhere else. Cheers Matt
  9. Kooks, Check out the Samaki Allure Surf Rod. They are $150.00 and i was using it to throw soft plastics the other week at the beach. Cheers Matt
  10. Hey Ash, The symetre is a great reel for the price. I just got a 4000 size for fathers day. Pred-ator (stan) has a 1000 series and has 4lb on there and he has caught some good size fish on it. I have the shimano catana 2-4kg spin rod its a 2 piece and picked it for $50.00. Same as above, for its price not a bad rod. Cheers Matt
  11. I just went down to the local and they were on the bite. Landed a huge one but got busted off right at the edge. Was on 4lb braid 6lb leader. The best fight I have had yet. Was just using bread, they were pretty active on the surface. Cheers Matt
  12. Hi Dave, Predator and I went for a fish at nepean yesterday. Another mate put his kayak in at devlin and went down past Yarramundi and back and didn't get a single bite. I was thinking about getting a kayak/getting the wife to buy me one for xmas. I was looking at two of the online stores and saw a couple around the $400.00 range. Would you recommend buying one of these for your first kayak. Cheers Matt
  13. We were using frozen squid. I think the brand was lunds - Californian squid.

  15. Hey Ethan, I don't think the colour really matters from what I have read on here before, its how you work them and what the fish are biting on the day. Also the quality of the blades as well, I don't know what brand the $1 ones are you are referring too, but they may not be worth buying. I tend to buy the darker colour ones and have one bright coloured one for darker water. I have a few black with orange under the bottom and a couple of gold colours. Good luck matt
  16. I would stick with the Led Lensor. We used one on Friday night and it was awesome, probably the best one on the market. They are having a sale on them at the moment in a few places. One shop is even giving a free Led Lensor flash light as well.
  17. I think stan does something to my bait before I put it on my hook. Seriously fishing 15 metres apart and I can't get a thing. The soft plastic was working though I was very surprised. Maybe next time.
  18. I just bought the Samaki allure surf 10", great rod for the beach, not sure about luderick though
  19. Yep, I didn't want to say it. The shop I went too said the guy he sold it to brings it back every couple of weeks to get replaced/fixed as every time he lands a big fish the reel falls to shit
  20. I was at the local shop yesterday asking about baitrunners. Asked the guy about the Shimano D series and he advised to go with the OC. Said it was built better and better value for money. Cheers Matt
  21. Hi raiders, Last night Predator and myself set out to do some night fishing to see if we could get some jewfish, salmon or sharks. High tide was at 6:45, we arrived at about 5 and wasn't too long before Predator landed this monster: Predator said it pulled like a freight train and we ended up about 20 metres up the beach. Funniest thing was seeing him run into the surf as it busted him off. Another hour went past before we had another bite. He thinks it might have been a bull shark or whaler, almost ripped the rod out of predators hand and knocked him off his feet. The night was getting, Predator called out to say it was slowing down and if we wanted to headed off, when his reel started singing again. Another 20 metre 15 minute struggle to land another port Jackson a few centimetres smaller then the first but put up a hell of a fight. All in all it wasn't a bad night, I''m still on a donut, but predator assures me he will get me a fish soon. That if he doesn't drop it off my line as he is picking it up. Cheers Matt
