Hi Guys,
Just joined fishraider today. I have been reading the reports and chat for about a year and really enjoy the discussions and informative posts. There certainly seems to be some very skilled and experienced fisherpeople around.
I moved to Australia (Sydney) three years ago and have slowly been getting to grips with fishing Sydney harbour (land based). Its so diverse in terms of methods, locations and quality of fish and that makes it brilliant fun albeit pretty challenging.
I went out last night for a quick fish after work. I generally get the usual bream and juvenile snapper.
However i struck into something really decent yesterday. I was using the usual light spinning gear and line was peeling off pretty quick. I couldn't work out what it might be. It was one of those occasions where you assume it will bust off but are just dying to see what it is.
I somehow managed to stay connected and keep it out of the rocks. I saw a big orange flash and thought no way........
Ended up with a 47cm 1.6kg snapper.
This is the first legal size one i have caught in the harbour. I assume this is quite a rare catch from the shoreline?
Great forum guys and thanks for the many brilliant tips for harbour fishing.
