  1. After recent  browsing of several  Shimano websites, I am getting confused what is JDM product e.g. rod or reel.

I know what JDM stands for. However, in your, opinion, when the product is  JDM and when it is not JDM?

    Thanks,

Hey Raiders, they were caught using tiny green hooks like the ones for blackfish with no float or sinker, i did put a larger swivel on to get the bait just under the top of the surface. All caught on my xfactor squid rod with 8lb leader. I did put one out as a livey but no takers yesterday and last night fried about 4 for the wife and i, now i think my wifes found one of her new favorite fish to eat.. they were beautiful, soughter kinda like whiting.. yummy

Thanks Mischief. So, did you use common 6 or 8 blackfish hook size or dropped to 10 or 12 size?

Yeah I was quoting the max drag on a stradic not the line strength ?

It's surprising how light you can go on a kayak......so long as you are willing to be dragged about ? Those guys who fish marlin/swordfish on yaks on 30lb line and 20kg drag getting towed 2km out, battling for 2-3 hours are bloody crazy......it's on my bucket list

I would like to experience one day  the same :-rolleyes. Though may be I will get a larger sea anchor first , or may be two.

10kg or so drag on the stradic, 100kg or so Yak and load so drag of about 30kg plus the drogue so I'm guessing 50kg plus drag?

Lungfai76, the line was only 10 lb which is <5kg (may be a bit higher if braid).

Krause, thanks, I understand that reel drag setting is not so important here due to Yak dragging.

  5. - Tell us what is your current tackle setup and may be you will get more suggestions.

    - Colder year season usually means less action in the water.

    - Try fishing early in the morning or late evening/night.

    - Try fishing near the structure (bridges, wharfs, rocks etc) and in the gutters as they hold more fish.

    -  Not sure what you meant by 'regular worms'. Live Beach/Blood worms are very very good bait.  I had no much luck with earth worms in salt water.

  6. I saw only good reviews about Bait n Go stuff in the past, and purchased once glow worms for the weekend night fishing in estuary. I had a chance to use them for one fishing session, however did not catch anything. I added some water to the soil with worms as it looked too dry for me, and by the next weekend it was a mess in the box. So, if you want to use them - stick to the instructions.
