That reminds me an article in Men's Health:"Avocado is so good for your body, let's buy avocado tablets". Why not avocado fruit?!
I fished freshwater small rivers with unweighted flies/other insects for 10 years in the past. Why do I have to fish with artificial fly with real scent if I have already a real fly (unless it is prohibited in some waters)?
I tried aniseed essence with not much luck , however I keep it in my fishing tackle boxes as it keeps the fishy smell away.

Are we talking here about fishing or catching? There is no bad weather for fishing.
Went yesterday evening to Sydney Harbour, got 2 bites during 1 1/5 hour landbased session.

If I caught yesterday 5 fish and today nothing with the same bait or lure - it's not marketing, it is reality. The scents will not guarantee you the catch , they may increase your chances. If you don't want to buy expensive scents - you can always experiment with your own - there is a plenty of recipes on AU fishing forums.
I was quite sceptical about them enough to keep s factor tube in my tackle bag for 2 years untouched.

My experience is that at least for bream it has made a massive difference to my bite rate. I have only used s-factor as I like the size of the tube etc. Some friends use pro-cure and swear by it. Coupled with light leaders of 4lb and down, It has totally changed my lure fishing for bream.

Thank you, guys. Probably I will go ( IF I decide to go) on the last day. I read earlier on the forums that people were able to grab some reel or rod bargains on the boat shows. However based on your responses I presume it related to the past or was just an exception.

Try calling Anglers Warehouse from Tweed Heads. They have similar Wilson Heritage 12' 1 piece medium mount for spin reel (model RH12M1) rods in stock, may be they have some supporting docs or reel/line suggestions for the rod.

Just recently found out about Sydney Boat Show 2016 which should start in a week or so.
I miss them all the time.
Just wondering what could be of interest for landbased fisho there?
I heard they usually sell some fishing tackle at promotional prices. Can I expect some significant discounts?

For $150 you should be able to get Shimano baitrunner 4000 D and a small change. This is second best baitrunner from Shimano and includes standard 10 years warranty for reel.

I have not researched this topic for about a year. So, from my memory the alternatives - Native Watercraft should be a bit cheaper comparing to Hobies. Also try googling for Kings Craft and Pedalfish kayaks. All of them use propellers. May be there is something new on the local market now.

I close my gangs with regular? fishing pliers, I put the hook in the area with small holes on both sides of pliers, so the hook is fixed in it and it does not break if I apply too much pressure while closing. See the bottom left arrow in the attached picture.

SquidMarks, you have a good eye. Alan Hawk stated that Shimano Thunnus Ci4 was the best of baitrunners in his 2015 blog (http://www.alanhawk.com/blog/wr15.html) while Shimano Baitrunner D was the second best one at almost half price of Thunnus Ci4. The extract is below.
"Free-lining reels
These are the reels commonly known as "bait-runner" reels due to the popularity of Shimano's Baitrunner model, lending its name to the entire category.
This is going to be a simple one; the best one available by a clear margin is the Thunnus CI4 which comes with tougher gearing than other mainstream free-lining reels, in addition to a highly reliable mechanism and excellent build quality. The second best would be Shimano's Baitrunner D, but I really recommend spending the extra and going for the Thunnus CI4. You don't need to look beyond those two reels. There are others that work fine, but there isn't a compelling reason to buy any unless you were after certain ergonomics specific to another reel"

- Where can I get thick salt in smaller than 25kg bags at reasonable price?

That's ok. These reels were for a while and were/are quite popular in Oz and Kiwi land. There should be a plenty of reviews online (I never used small baitrunners). Just do not treat them like Alveys, stick to a reputable model (not just a reel brand) - and everything should be fine.

If you are interested in a new one (new vantage seat, warranty, you can select fins or rudder, further customization, professional advice) then there are 3 dealers in Sydney and 3 in Wollongong area ( http://www.hobiecat.com.au/dealers ).Current Off-peak season and end of fin. year sales should give you an advantage in further negotiation. If you are looking for a used one then try usual suspects: fleabay/bumtree/FB or a bunch of local yak online communities.
I never considered Mirage as it is just too small for me. However there are plenty of reviews and feedback online. Let me know if you struggle to find them.
You might want to consider MirageDrive alternatives - there should be at least 2 yak brands on the local market with propellers which are priced below Hobie.

Mate, Shimanos are considered good baitrunners. They are available in 4000 size. See below the link with current models and their differences.

If you find the older shimano 4500b model in good condition - it could be also a very good investment. .
I am not sure yet which fishing stores we are allowed to mention on the forum. Just google for "shimano baitrunner 4000 oc price au" or "shimano baitrunner 4000 d price au" or visit local fishing tackle store for the current prices. Other brands may be cheaper.

Mixing real fly pieces with artificial fly is not actually a pure art of artificial fly fishing. So if you play" dirty" ( using real fly pieces) why not just use the whole real fly considering the listed efforts / extra time for the above ( crushing, screening, bad smell etc.)
