  1. I think those >1/2m breams were way older.
  2. NP. My guess here is that rod is also shimano due shiny spot on the rod close to the butt/reel. So, it could be part of some budget shimano combo. I would suggest to PM the question to JordanP, he might receive email notification about your question.
  3. Adsy91, thank you very much mate for the suggestions and the link.
  4. Pafisho08 and Adsy91 - Thank you very much. Do you mind to answer several other questions? - Up to what minimal depth do you find comfortable fishing with metal vibes? - Which metal lure hole do you use for lure connection for fishing in shallows - top front or top rear? - How often do you apply S-factor? - what max rating braid/leader would you use for such light lures? what leader length? I have small tailor in my area that would test all light leaders. - do you mind to PM me your source of small cranks at the mentioned cost? - what side of tide (or may be change of tide) do you find more productive for shallows? - what's your favorite retrieve technique for cranks for shallows? Guys, any other favorite lures or suggestions for night shallows fishing ?
  5. Hi All, What lures and retrieves would you suggest for night sand shallows (<1m) fishing?: - with and without current - full moon and black nights - different tide stages Thank you.

    Squid

Just my opinion: - targeting bigger fish or night fishing - whole squid otherwise pieces. - high current/lots of bottom snags or rocks/several baits/ static bait location - paternoster rig with heavier sinker - no bottom snags or rocks/ one bait,/ready to move with bait - lighter running sinker
  7. The reel is very affordable shimano sienna 1000. Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  8. Thank you abecedarian. I wish I could say so. I need more practice. Most of other fishing methods are less challenging.
  9. Hi All, Just wondering if 9' fly rod 5/6 weight can be good for local estuary/ light saltwater land-based fly fishing or too light? Thank you.
  10. Thank you OutdoorDan for explanation and suggestion. I will try to do the testing with fingers and check youtube. I use braid for daytime metals casting and no problems with that so far - whether the rod has more or less guides . However for night fishing close to structures/rocks - I would still prefer mono, so I might change rod or mono line and see how it goes. How long is your shock leader and whether the mono/braid knot impacts the casting?
  11. Thank you again NaCIH2OK9. I presume the wide gap hooks sit reliably when flatties shake their heads.
  12. That explains where all the fish and fishos gone from Narrabeen on Sat morning. Only surfers left. Spent 3 hours walking and casting metals. Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  13. 4cm soft plastics worked for me. Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  14. Thank you jdanger. For the same reasons - love of fish and lures I had to increase my leader rating. Does 3lb makes much casting distance or bite quantity difference comparing to 6lb? Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  15. Howard, what lure size in cm do you mean for larger lures? Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  16. Thank you very much. How long was the leader? Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  17. Interesting video. Just wondering why are you using the small landing net all the time? The rod should be able to lift the fish. Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  18. Really well done . 2 min per fish. What was your rig? Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  19. Here baitrunner function can be used. Sent from my couch using Tapatalk
  20. I noticed that some wide gap hooks bend very easily unlike other hook shapes - does it impact hookup rate? Or Instinct wide gap hooks are rather stiff?
  21. Thank you Dan. It's mono line as I need extra abrasiveness for night/rock fishing. Small birdnests (one or several knots in the line tightened by casted lure). Usually between first (largest) and second guides. Spool is not overfilled. I use swivel. I do agree agree that tension quite often is uneven as I do different retrieves for different lures (i.e. not just cast and fast retrieve technique) . However this birdnest issue is for some reason just with heavier lures e.g SP with heavy Jig. What did you find on youtube?
  22. Thank you very much NaCIH2OK9. What size of the wide gap hook , do you think, would be most appropriate for 35-50cm flatheads?
  23. Should I understand that no one is using wide gaps hooks anymore in NSW?
  24. Thank you OutdoorDan. So my understanding now is that more guides in a rod is usually better if the rod is made properly (read - professionally custom-made). Just wondering what reel do you use for your mentioned 10'6 rod and whether you moded it? Could someone explain why I had sometimes tangles between guides while casting with heavier lures and not with lighter lures - same rod/reel/line?
