Yeah I gave up on rivers, they don't look good and the way to reach them is not great after the rain. So will find some fishable ponds or will keep playing Ingress...

Hi all
I'm heading to Eschol Park this weekend to see my wife's relatives. I was wondering if there is any fishing spots up there.
I heard the were some carp fishing around? But any fishing at all would do for me.
Thanks

In NZ they call it Kahawai. Aussie Salmom are also nice in sashimi when fresh.

I read a lot about storm fishing and what I can get of this is the best time for fishing is when the barometer is going down. Not when it is low but really when it is decreasing. And usually it is before the storm arrives and up until it ends. The articles then say that when te barometer goes up, which is when the sky is clearing up after the bad weather the fish usually will be quiet.
Also, after a long period of high pressure, there will be periods of decrease of pressure usually around mid day which is also OK to fish.
Does that apply to all species? Not sure...

Drove to sydney to work today cuz it was only raining and I was surprised that so many people stayed home! But you know what?! Stay home guys!!! The highway was so smoooottthhhh I thought I would be late at work but I was so early lol.

Lol. I can imagine the face of the people passing by "what is that guy doing with that bazooka stuff!" But the challenge of catching a worm with it is appealing :-) but I wonder if a beach worm would actually put its head far in trap though.

But the water will be rather cold at night, no?
If someone goes there for prawning, I'd love to join. Got the gear but missed the opportunity this year...

Good question but I don't think many would have the answer lol

Or maybe the trap needs a system that pulls the worm out right after it is triggered. A bit complicated to build though I think :-D

@krause, our beach worms can get 3 meters long. And I don't think even the average 1.5m ones will fully enter the box. They usually tend to try and pull the bait.
Maybe with a trap you can leave it there and if the worm get trapped he will get locked until tired and you just pull him out. But as Squidmarks noted, they have tendency to snap their body and you might end up with only the head in the trap.

For me it all really depends how well I know the spot. If new to me then I might stay for up to three hours but moving around within area. This because each spot might be productive at different stage of the tide or time of the day.
If I know the spot well and have arrived at targeted time with the bait for the expected fish and some good burley, then I won't stay more than 45mins. I once moved spot every 20 mins and started to catch something after few changes.
Depending on the current or weather the fish might prefer to gather in different types of spots. Need to find where they are, but still sometimes they just won't bite...

Squidmarks, thanks for all the info. I think I have to agree that this trap won't be ideal for aussie beach worms. I'll continue catching them by hand which is fun

If we can have that machine working from the beach that would be awesome

From the lake near the car park there are plenty of yabbies!!! Get a pump out
I've always been using 10lb braided lines for beach fishing. This allows me further casting. Got few issues of tangles but never been big deal. You can always bring another spool or reel with mono if too much weeds. But usually when it happens I just go fish the lake instead of reeling in the weeds...

Hey guys
I just got myself the 201DV. A common chain store (will not name but PM) has a clearance on them, you can get them for $145.
The 201 at $130 and the 151DV for $125. If the shops don't have stock (like mine in Gosford) you can try to get them online.
I'm now looking for a deal for the battery and charger :-D

Hi all
I'm in NC at the moment, enjoying the end of year festivities with my family. At the same time I'm trying to get out and wet the line as much as I can.
Here are few catches between me and mt mate.
Garfish:
A bream:
A brassy trevally:
Update: my mate said the brassy trevally could actually be a young bluefin trevally

Bream, blackfish, tailor, flathead, whiting and even jewfish at high tide!
Blackfish and breams at the camping park. Flatheads near the channel in front of the park but virtually anywhere, jewfish play your luck.
There is an article that has a map of all the good spots on the Lakes. Google for it
