  1. Unfortunately it doesn't help if the fish aren't biting. But it is cool to have one,
  2. So is anyone keen to take the yaks out this weekend? I live lower north shore but keen to make a trip up the coast for some good fishing?
  3. Thanks scratchie. It would be easier to get out and explore in a boat for sure. Thanks for the advice I will look into it.
  4. Cheers mate, I am starting to agree about Pittwater and that it is a haven for junior squire. Do you think getting the yak into the hawksberry a better idea? I am going to try some northern areas of Pittwater see if that is any better.
  5. Well I got out on Pittwater this morning, revisiting some of the areas I went to on the last trip. Only thing I could find over 10 cm was a lovely 36cm whiting. I got one of the fish I was chasing the kingies were elusive today.
  6. Not fair, I am sitting on my butt at home. Would rather out. How's the wind?
  7. Looking forward to it scratchie....
  8. Oh I thought you were on The Central Coast. Been to Port Stephens a couple of times. Nice place, would love to fish it. Agreed, Roberta would organize a great comp. Sound like a great idea.
  9. That's what some of the guys said about Pittwater so pretty happy with that sesh. I'm keen to come up your way with the yak if your keen to get out one weekend and show me the CC.
  10. Hey Roberta, Nice write up. It was a great day out and great to meet you guys and fish with some locals. My flathead went 75cm which was a pb by 20 cm and a first for the yak. A few other fish caught were a few pinkies and a 30cm whiting and lost a much bigger one. Anyway, I had a ball and looking forward to the next trip out. Cheers,
  11. Hey there, yeah I am always up for a fish. Just getting into the kayak fishing myself but doing ok for myself. I'm in Wollstonecraft myself but keen to go anywhere.
  12. Not sure if you get this in time but are you launching from Rowland Reserve? Cheers
  13. I think I am going to try and join you itching to get out on the yak with the new sounder.
  14. Thanks for your replies. So a bit of an update.... Been continuing to fish after work and trying the different tides and conditions. Found the incoming tide on dusk is the best. Been getting whiting, tailor and a couple of pbs. Firstly, a 55cm flathead and tonight a 51 cm salmon both on bream gear and a nice pink prawn plastic in unweighted which was a great but of fun.
  15. Agreed, never had any luck there either but have been having a blast of an evening around my area fishing from low tide on the way in. No need for deep water, been doing most of my fishing in 1 m of water. See my other post about some of my catches.
  16. Hi all, first post here. Not sure if I am in the right section. Went down to Berry Island Reserve this evening and had a bit of a flick with some surface lures in the shallows near the rocks. Only there for an hour a got 2 bream, one at 30cm, a just legal chopper Taylor and my first ever EP around 36cm. I was so surprised to get one around the rocks in Sydney Harbour. Sorry no picks as it was showering and dark. First fish ever caught on surface lures. One Sugarpencil and a small popper. So much fun, I think I will have to head back again tomorrow.
  17. Nice day for it in the end and good work with the fish. Can I ask what/where Chippo is, thanks?
  18. Thanks for the reply. I have been getting out I just want to learn a bit from a local. As for the SP, I have been going to Iron Cove and Hen and Chicken Bay, but also a few places around the Harbour. Just been chasing bream, flathead and anything else that will eat my lure. I would actually like to get out and just target a specific fish. If anyone is keen to go flick and chase some fish let me know.
  19. I should have mentioned that I have a lot of spare time at present and I am available any day.
  20. Hi all, I have started fishing again after many years break. I fished nearly all my life up in North Queensland and moved down here about 10 years ago. I am looking to get out more and learn some of the finer details about fishing land based around Sydney. I am based on the lower north shore and would like to learn about beach fishing and I can easily get to the northern beaches if someone would be willing to let me tag along. I have a bit gear and happy to pick up more if required. I would also like to get out more and flick some SPs around the harbour. I have been out a few times but I know there are a few details I need to learn about so again if anyone is heading out I would love to tag along. Also, happy if anyone would like to contribute some advice on locations and techniques would be welcomed as well. Cheers, Grant
