  1. That sounds about right. Mate said he thought it was all sizes for tailor, but we were wrong. Thanks for clarifying that mate
  2. G'day all, As some of the Sydney siders know today was some pretty average weather. Got up at 6am and went to athletics and the gym in the morning. Got home around 10am and got showered and lay on the couch. Rang the misses asking if she was up for lunch or a movie - so which she responds "No, lets go fishing". Shock horror - it was already raining. So by 11:30 we were down at Roseville with some of her mates who have never fished before and a mate who is a keen fisho (still trying to get him to sign up here). We fished off the rocks around the jetties and pontoons with prawns, squid, tiny bait fish and of course the "Oh yea i bought this fish along for bait - found it in the bottom of the freezer". Well it started to rain and then It will went abit crazy. Was almost every cast we were catching some fish - most of them tiny little yellow tail, bream and yakkas. Much to all the girls delights who thought it was fantastic - most of the other fisherman around us had a big laugh as their all squeeled and jumped up and down over fish no bigger than 5 inches We did catch a few large tailor, a couple just under and one big enough to take home. Used a smaller one for bait on a beach rod for abit of a laugh as it died - after about 30 minutes the rod bent and then went slack. reeled it in about 20 minutes later - clean bitten in half! Who knows what it was Caught a few undersized snapper as well. And a decent sized leather jacket later on Was a great afternoon fishing all in all. Now at work typing this up haha Will (Sorry no photos - I didn't bring mine down and the girls didnt want to get their phones 'fishy')
  3. I'm keen to tag along too - not great at fishing yet but i'll prep bait as long as you fellas show me all the tricks of the trade
  4. bugger the 'over time'. first time i got it snagged it took the whole trebble off - it snapped the loop of the lure that had the 'ring' in it
  5. give sugarloaf a try mate. nice little spot
  6. ill tag along to new zeland for sure. But nelson bay is the goods too, even try cairns. we did that a few times as kids when we were little - not sure what it would be like now'a days
  7. i have a shallow dive lure from kmart - cost me no more than $5. it swims sideways and even upside down occasionally. I could see the fish laughing at me the first time i used it. Spend your money on something better
  8. thats crazy! no such luck atm, are you fishing off the rocks?
  9. hahaha, so romantic. Romantic dinner of some king fish sashimi - beautiful! she'd be won over for sure
  10. my boss and I even watched a doco of Giant Carp fishing one saturday morning - was good fun. This site is great for young UNI students. the family feel is something great as well - having the older guys on here makes it seem like we are learning from some experts. Oh no haha, my misses leaves this up to me . I do the research but she seems to catch the fish after i tell her what i find out - i figure i shouldnt break the voodo. she even tells the lads at parties some of the fish were mine, shes a keeper
  11. I only joined this site a month or so ago but even though I don't post regularly or have a boat and all the gear I feel like im there with the ladys and men fishing. Seeing the reports of game fishing, huge catches, no catches and surprise catches and everything in between makes you laugh smile and even feel sorry for the person. the knowledge accessible is amazing too, even if there is no 'review', by searching something within 10 mins of reading you have a good idea of how the product works and its pros and cons. I especially love the member kayak and boat posts - always leave me in awe and jealously. Some posts here even get the misses attention when reading over my shoulder. Not to mention a great time waster @ work. Being a telemarketer is depressing but reading this makes it good fun. this site has got me through dozens of shifts Regards, Will
  12. this post gets better and better. How many burner BBQs do you have on your boats? Saw a boat at the marina @ bobbin head the other week and the guy said he had a 6 burner. it was as big as the swim platform nearly
