  1. New to fishing with plastics, I have tried narrabeen lake for a lot of bite offs and a few foul hooked toads. I trawled thru the forums for pointers and locations. Today I headed down to Brays Bay in Rhodes armed with 5" gulp jerk shad in satay chicken on a 1/16 after this mornings high tide. First cast I got a good bite and a few casts later I had decent 30 cm flathead on the steps. A few more casts l had another on and taking line, a lot bigger than the first but it threw the hook. Then another just undersized came ashore. Left them biting as the rain set in. Thanks to all the raiders who share their knowledge and experience, I'm on my way. Ryder
  2. Hi clemzii Good cabbage off the rocks at nth bondi at low tide .You could try there or I have seen old masters catching good bags at rose bay wharf. There is a canal that feeds into the bay near the golf course, and a guy rose bay tackle ( closed) said there is good weed in there. Again low tide. Don't think it's. cabbage but that stringy stuff (sorry don't know it's name) you twist on. Good luck
  3. Fraser Island Qld would be my pick. Fly direct to Hersey bay, ferry across to Kingfisher Bay Resort. Great fishing off the pier and beach that side of the island. Monster flatties ,mackerel and mack tuna. Great facilities ,pools restaurants bar 4wd hire tours. Fenced off from dingos. For older kids they have a junior Eco rangers club to keep them busy. I went there my first anniversary 16 years ago and got my biggest lizard ever. Been back and still love it.
  4. Nasty cut. I'm guessing a few hours at RNS, Local bulk billing medical centres put wounded and bleeding fishos (and anyone else in the same boat) thru as a priority. Carry your Medicare card and make the most of it while you still can.
  5. Keeping the customers happy will keep the boss happy. Great report . Nice score on the reel, they can take a pounding. Well done.
  6. I like fishraider for its up to date information, fishing magazines are great but already a month behind reality. There is genuine good will between members, and the combined experience and knowledge means everyone benefits. I have visited the site as a guest for years and just became a member and I like it even more. Thanks fishraider.
  7. Has anyone else come across servo sold "Australian pilchards" that seem ok the way they are presented, but when you open the pack they have a low belly and a different profile? I have been told they are herring that are being dumped on the market. I used them once and nothing would touch them, now I see them in 2kg blocks, doesn't seem right .
