  1. Hi, well done on getting out there. Nothing beats standing in the beach in the dark ... Well except standing on the beach in the dark catching fish! ? Try and get there in the day to spot the gutters, it's pretty hard to do at night. Put a marker somewhere on the beach so u can find it again when u return. I've always had more luck with salmon and tailor in the winter months off the beach and in summer I switch to pipis and prawns and target whiting and bream.   Try Wanda Beach too. Cheers

  2. Hi, I can't see a problem with those stats. The only time u can't fish the beach is when it's running real hard and you can't hold the bottom. Personally I've had more success fishing dusk and dark rather than dawn, but I've also caught salmon and tailor in the middle of the day too. I tend to focus on time of day rather than tide. Find a nice gutter and you're half way there.

  3. The NSW Government announced today plans to introduce legislation into parliament making Lifejackets mandatory in designated high risk locations. They intend to trial it for 12 months in the Randwick City government area from December 1 2016 with a moratorium on fines. The exact areas are yet to be declared but would likely include Maroubra, Malabar Headland, Little Bay and places like Julieannes, The Trap, Gutter, Jolongs, Cape Banks. Get your Lifejackets ready fellas!

  4. So many opinions on this one, Some people swear by moon phases. Generally if you're night fishing a full moon is nicer to fish by than a dark moon as you can see stuff better. Tailor are generally more active on a full moon.

  5. Hi, if you're into beach fishing try the beach south of Forster Keys, park near the bus stop. Normally produces. Underneath the Forster Tuncurry bridge north side is good for bream and flatties. While off the break wall u can catch almost anything, but it's a bit tricky to fish depending on the tide. Try tossing out lightly weighted whitebait close in to the rocks. You'll need live bait for the bigger stuff. Good luck!

  6. Hi, Randwick Council is asking for feedback on the Malabar Boat Ramp. If you use it or have used it pls provide some feedback.

    From the website:

Over the past 15 years, the water quality around Malabar Beach and Long Bay has improved significantly. As a result it provides a hub of aquatic related activities for local residents and visitors, including swimming, fishing, snorkelling, diving, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Randwick City Council is proposing to upgrade the Malabar Boat Ramp at Long Bay. We have partnered with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), to investigate and improve the boat ramp and surrounds to enhance the experience of users of the ramp, including boat owners and other recreational users.

To have your say, you may want to:

    - complete the short 5 minute survey below

    - make a submission to share in detail your thoughts on the boat ramp

    - attend an on-site meeting with Council and the design contractor to discuss your ideas or concerns: Friday 26 August at 4pm

The consultation is open from 15 August to 2 September 2016.

  7. Hi Youngfisher, a good place to start is off the Beach. If you can handle the cold, I suggest u Try Wanda Beach on dusk. A gang of pillies in a gutter will normally land you tailor, Salmon and if you use slightly smaller hooks u can also get bream, trevally too

  8. Winter, dusk, ganged pilchard and a good gutter and you're almost guaranteed of a catch of salmon or tailor on just about any open facing beach. Maroubra and Wanda have been producing lately. Cheers
