  1. Little Bay has claimed three lives in the past 2 years. Along the Randwick city coastline there have been six deaths in the past two years making this area, statistically the most dangerous in Australia.

Juliennes is further north. You access it from bilga cres across the golf course. But be careful, need to fish it at low tide, in a swell less than 1m and preferably not a southerly. There are plenty of threads talking about it

  2. Hi raiders, what's the normal 'season' for kingfish? I know it's normally summer, but we're past summer now! :-) ever heard of them being caught in winter?

  3. Great fishing session! I can't wait until my boys are old enough to take out fishing.

During the day off the rocks I've been having the same problem- lots of nibbles and losing bait mostly without feeling it. I think it's because there are plagues of sweep around.

  4. Fished Shark Point Clovelly today for the first time. It's a lovely spot north of Clovelly Beach with access to relatively deep water. The sea was very calm today so it was pretty safe, but avoid this spot in anything but the smallest swell.

Anyway, got there about an hour before sun up and was greeted with ...6 other fishos who beat me to it! This spot can get busy!

I was fishing with pilchards under a float, and with my first cast I had a nice sized tailor within minutes. I thought I was in for a good session, but for whatever reason that was it for the tailor. I soon found out why, foul hooking a sweep. From then I lost bait constantly without feeling bites. This has happened to me almost every time off the rocks in the past few weeks... There are pelagics pre dawn but then the sweep move in and seem to drive the others away. Anyone else noticed this? Changed to a lure for a bit but ran out of time.

There were about a dozen guys there before I left at 830am (I had to be at work by 9am!). Most were spinning garfish for kings. I saw two landed, both undersized and couple more bust offs on the reef.

No photo of my fish- 2 big fillets and had it for dinner tonight, but check out this sunrise.
