  1. I think I'm gonna have a sore Back and not be able to go to work during next week, gotta follow docs orders
  2. Yes I do We just got back from jb, very sloppy conditions, didn't turn a reel, now the word is , they've moved south again back up to batemans bay.
  3. Saturday's weathers looking great for jb, leaving Sydney 2:00am, in search of southern blues, you might of seen a few fish caught there on Facebook, boat name "wet dreams", they had a five way in 19.5 waters. I'll let you boyz know if we have any success. Anyone else heading out ?
  4. Incase your theory is correct, I'm planning to drop the boat at jervis bay and troll south towards ulladala on Saturday, that's pretty much the only fishable day for a trailer boat
  5. I can't seem to upload pics from my phone
  6. Got a SMS last night, a few boys heading to jb for the day, I would of loved to be there after a few pics they sent. It seems the tuna are moving rapidly , a few days ago they were at ulladala and batemans bay, today they got a few at jb, I'd say by the weekend we should be seeing some out of Sydney. I'd say the same thing will happen as the past few years, they move in real quick , and move out even quicker. So it's only a small pocket of time to get out there and give them a crack before they move on. Good luck to all targeting them, Ps make sure all your gear , lines , knots , rigs are up to scratch, there will be some stonkers out there.
  7. Hi guys Also heading out for half day, so I'd be bashing the bottom along long reef Call sign :black Marlin Good luck guys
  8. Hi If weather permits, I'll be heading out on Wednesday, plan is to troll for half day , then spend a few hours bashing the bottom at Browns for some bread n butter fish. Call sign is Black Marlin.
  9. No probs You'll find patches of bait balls around, In calm conditions I like to troll live slimmy mackral, it's an idea to get a few in the bait tank before heading out. With a bit of berly you'll find tones of bait around cabbage tree island. Got another report yesterday of 60-70kg yellow fin caught out there in 400fathoms on skirts Good luck guys
  10. Hi guys , just got back from a week at port. We only managed a black around 100kg, a few nice dollies 15-18kg and a good feed of snapper, also heard reports of 60kg yellow fin tuna been caught over the shelf. Wearher conditions were poor for trailer boats, each day was pushing 20-25knts. I believe this weeks weather is much better, and so is the fishing. Good luck for Who ever heads out.
  11. Hi guys Late start around 9:00am, and it was a sloppy sea, at some points it would of reached 2.5~3 meter swell. At around 11:00 just before the shelf we landed a nice dolly, then an hour later on the shelf landed an albacore, that's dinner sorted. Then around 2:00, 30k Stella screams, what a buzz, in around 10 seconds it's peel around 200meters of line then jumps out and shakes the hook , would of gone around 150+ blue. That's fishing. Looking forward to a week in port Stephens in three weeks time.
  12. Great work guys and congrats to jarred, I'm at port Stephens for the weekend with wife n kids, any recommendations where to go for a snapper fish in close
  13. Hi scratchie I was using live slimmy mackrel So we're the other 50 boats.
  14. Hi guys, spare of the moment decision to head to port for a one day trip. Had no probs getting slimmys at cabbage tree, then arrived at carpark around 8:00am, to find another 50+ boats already out there. The Marlin was insane, there were boats all around us hooked up, Marlin jumping everywhere , it was more like a Coles carpark on nye. Some boats with double even triple hookups, and apparently the previous day was even more insane. Unfortunately we didn't get a hit, but what an experience to see so many Marlin been fought at the same time in a small area. Made a quick stop at the fad to find no dollies at all, although there were a few caught out there up to 17kg on skirts. There are plenty of bait schools out there, you'll have no probs finding them. It seems it's gonna be a hell of a Marlin season , not just at port but also here off Sydney. Good luck to those who head out.
  15. Thanks bottart well said.
  16. Hi guys, drove past foreshore rd boat ramp yesterday during the family day out, and couldn't help my self, had to take a sticky beak in the cleaning cage. And surely enough , there was a stripe Marlin head on the sink, missing it's bill and eye, I'd say it will be up on somebody's wall soon. Also Saturday a friend was out who had 3 solid hookups trolling skirts , while another boat had double hookup on solid Dolly's.
  17. Portland Victoria is still producing big numbers of big fish daily, 10-20 fish weighing over the 100kg mark per day. A few days ago a southern blue fin was caught and weighed in at 164kg, now holding the record. Today a 140kg was fought and caught just out side port Phillip bay in Melbourne , which I fish every November for the snapper. Again, it's un heard of SBT caught out side of port Phillip. While they were fighting the barrel , other boats come past , drop there spread and in minutes they had 4 way hookups. What an insane season it's been for the SBT in Victoria. Let's hope they push to Sydney and spend a little more time here more then last season.
  18. Well, his taken off all the wind on leaders, and his on his 4.5 hr drive back to portland to fish again tomorrow. I will post up if he has any luck. All this week over 10 barrels are caught each day, the locals are raving on that they've never experienced a season like this in history, I think the biggest caught so far was weighed in at 156kgs, two days ago. Due to work commitments I was unable to fish this season, but next year I'll be there with cow bells.
  19. 55 big southern blue fin tuna barrels have been caught in the past 7 days. They are still been caught, Paul a mate of mine living in Melbourne did 7 weekend (4.5hr drive) trips to portland in search of the elusive SBT BARRELS, he decided to do a last trip before the boat goes up for sale. Hooked up this morning and fought the fish for 3hrs 15min, with no energy left in him , after raising the fish several time before it goes down deep again and again and now only 3 feet away from a gaff shot "BUST", the black Dacron at the end of the wind on leader gave way. I probably would of cried lol. But hey that's fishing I guess. So his decided to extend his trip and give it another crack tomorrow. The fish was estimated to weigh well over 100kgs. Good luck Pauli.
  20. Great post mate Great fish. Me and a few mates are planning a fishing trip to Vanuatu early next year. I'm yet to fight a dogtooth tuna and a G.T.
  21. All good Mr sword fisherman , after all this site is to share around info, that hopefully benefits others. I did go out Friday, conditions were awesome , trolled south east of browns for zeros, so i headed back to browns for a few bottom drops , I had around 10 boys come round for a evening BBQ. Landed 2 huge gem fish , which was the talk of the night. I have caught and eaten many diffrent species of fish including other countries, all boys agreed that gem fish (if cooked certain ways ) is a very high end table eating fish.
  22. I hope I'm wrong, but since the southern blues came in late this year, they didn't hang around for long, they pushed down further south. They didn't last for much longer than a week or so off Sydney. But going by the EAC pattern, my guess is June next year, and hopefully hang around for the full 3 weeks.
  23. Heading out Friday , conditions poking ok Anybody else heading out ? Call sign "BLACK MARLIN"
