  1. I looked at the pic before i read the report, And thought if you'd caught that under the Rip Bridge as well i was gonna hang up my rods and reels!! Awesome catch all the same.....
  2. Sen-friggin-sational mate...... That's awesome!! I thought I'd caught just about every fish it was possible to catch under the bridge, but I've never seen that under there. As rare as rare could be I'd imagine.
  3. This ^^ You can never have to many pictures of that image!!
  4. If you can find the 'submerged submarine cable' sign thingy in Paddys channel, go on a drift back and forth from it....... There always seems to be a heap of them hanging around the weeds around there...... And as an added benefit, there's a good chance you'll get yourself some tasty flatties at the same time!!
  5. That's awesome mate!! I love how big the blues get in there cause of the no netting rule......... Where did you anchor up to bring those in mate, near Paddys??
  6. Yea Jenno, the holiday fishos were certainly out in force. They generally don't bother me to much cause they are never near the locations I like to go. I do sometimes feel sorry for them though when they spend hours in one spot catching nothing and look over at us bringing in fish every second cast hahaha. If only they knew how to read a depth sounder.......
  7. Bit of both mate to be honest. Around the bridge I never drift. Anchor up in the middle of a deep hole and hope the water doesn't run to hard. But I've only ever used bait around there as well. Prawns, pillies, and my favorite chunks of chicken always bring some fish. There is a heap of little fish around but there is a lot of big things down there too. Down Paddys though on the drift. I'll just throw out on SP and let it hang behind the boat doing it's own thing. With the drag set very low so if something does grab it whilst I'm not paying attention I'll hear the line dragging off. But I'll also just drift down there with a chunk of chicken lightly weighed as well. It really helps to burley up in there though. I find I don't go very well without my special burley mix!
  8. Ahhh that'd explain it. I was well and truly gone by that stage!
  9. Seems like Brissy Waters was the place to be on Saturday hey?? Well done mate
  10. Finally got a chance to get the rods out of cobwebs and wet them. So we went to my favorite place (with a couple of guys that had never fished here before)and this was the end result. The 2 big flatties came in at 60 and 61cm, and the big bream came in at a stonking 38cm. They make the others look tiny!! All the bream and 2 of the flatties (including the 60cm) were caught on the eastern side of the rip bridge. The rest were caught whilst drifting down Paddy's. (And lost another 3 mid 50cm flatties at the boat with ordinary net working!! ) enough there to easily feed 10 adults and 4 kids. and now back to renovating and other house work!!
  11. What time did that happen mate?? I was at the bridge from around 7:30 to 11:30 and didn't see that. Mind you I wasnt really looking at other boats to be honest
  12. To actually go fishing!! That would be handy........ I live on a river and barely get a chance to even look at it, let alone fish in it. And take the boat out more, taken the boat out only once this year so far!! (In my defence though, I've been renovating my house and backyard since end of summer. And that kinda takes up A LOT of time;))
  13. I like the part where it said: "some people have been experiencing ‘stinging’ eyes when hauling in nets full of the algae" Isn't that a dam shame!! Find somewhere else to trawl your nets then!!
  14. I've fished under the bridge 100's of times, and never seen a jewy in the daylight hours....... No doubt they're there, but I've never had the privilege. Night time is a different story though. Not that I've caught one, but been in a few boats that caught them and seen other boats catch them. Maybe give that a try instead mate??
  15. I listened to the eulogies whilst driving home from work. I'm probably the least emotional person you'll find, but it was a real tough drive with a massive lump in the throat and eyes welling up. R.I.P Phillip Hughes...... R.I.P
  16. There's a couple of spots in Paddy's Channel where the squid hangout....... There a 'submarine cable' sign thingy towards the end of the channel I seemed to always find a few (but getting them in the boat is a little harder). Or just do a couple of drifts up and down and see what you find. But in saying that it's been a while since I've been there (renovating the backyard seems to be taking up all my time!! ). Good luck in there mate, there's some good fish if you can find the right spot........
  17. I had my tongue firmly planted in my cheek boys when I said the above. Of course Koolewong would be awesome with an upgrade. But what are the chances of it really happening the way it's suppose too?? But I don't shy away from the fact that I really like that hardly anybody goes there. And yup, plenty of weed. Especially at low tide as it gets stuck there from the change. But I think that there's not a lot of room to back your trailer in is what keeps most people away from there. There maybe 2ft on either side by the time you've straightened up?? It's nice and tight......... The ramp at Brooklyn is a cracker though. That thing is just awesome. You could easily get 4 boats in at the same time there.
  18. No way!! I hope they never upgrade that ramp. It's awesome just how it is....... No one ever goes there You only ever get about half a dozen people putting boats in there because nobody can back a trailer in good enough to get their boat in or out.... Basically idiot free, and the people who do go there are willing to help each other out when the wind picks up making things tricky. If they upgraded it, god only knows what kinda bogan would turn up there!!
  19. Every time I go there I just head down the The Marina and check it out. There's a few places there that'll try and get your business so just play them off against each other..... You must have been pretty unlucky to not get at anything at all. There's usually mahi mahi all over the place that time of year....
  20. Very true, but there not that hard to get on a hand line or the likes though. But you can find them pretty much all year round in the right spots..... Beautiful eating things they are too!!
  21. Thanks for the note mate....... I haven't seen any of it in the creeks yet, so hopefully it stays away. I wonder if the 'professional fishers' in there are taking heed of this warning or not?? Cause I'm sure their nets would come up with that algae all over it too........ About time the finally opened up The Entrance and let some good water flow in there.......
  22. Majority of my fishing is done is Brissy waters, and the different types of fish you can get in there is awesome. Especially under the rip bridge. Some good holes in there that just hold good, big fish. But it's called 'Rip Bridge' for a reason. Trying to find a time when the water isn't flying too hard to do. Bu if you can do it you'll have a lot of fun. Nice flatties mate, they look mighty tasty frying in that pan.....
  23. Ahhhh, the simple flattie...... Not the brightest fish under the water, but certainly one of the tastiest..... Sensational catch bud.....
  24. I've heard there's some nice lud's in there if you can find them, but I've never bothered to look..... Might try and actually make an effort now I've seen the size of what's there..... Nice catch in some horrid weather......
