  1. I guess its safe to go out the Heads in this one.
  2. G'day All, Was looking at marine stereo's tonight and became side tracked. [again] Check out these American trailer boat fishing machines www.fishska.com then click classifieds then boats over 24.
  3. Thanks for the info everyone. Well all the info is here, just have to decide what to do now. I told my wife about drilling holes in it and she cant get over that idea, still has trouble getting over the price of the engine. I really wanted to go for the trim tabs but the marlin boards would get in the way of the struts that house the electric motors. We plan to go to apple tree bay on saturday morning. I will spend more time with the trim control and go from there. The other thought I just had was the issue with the 3 year warranty on the motor. Nothing is easy I guess. Tony.
  4. Thanks Robbie your right I didnt give much info maybe I should sell used cars or something. Anyway its an Allison boat 6.95mtr cuddy cabin with a 225hp optimax bought it new in june L/year. The engine sits on a pod, so the prop is about 600ml away from the transom. The boat planes at about 2500rpm so I think its OK for a boat its size. My mates say the hydrofoil will get the rear end higher sooner and when trolling. So, would a $110 foil make a huge difference. I have not seen to many boats with these but have seen a couple Trophy boats with the engine pod set-up.
  5. G'Day ''Hydrofoils'' has anybody used one of these gadgets on there outboard? A few blokes told me I need one but I'm not in a hurry to drill holes in my new 225 outboard. Any opinions or ideas welcome. [you can google this ''SE SPORT 300''] Tony.
  6. Daniel, with that size boat just hook it up and enjoy.
  7. Good looking fishing boat Kelvin. Ever since I got my boat I am yet to bring in a big fish. Have more luck in my dads 3.9mtr tinny. Just an opinion on props, if your engine can rev within its maxium RPM range of 5000 to 5500 it is more or less proped right. [in my case a 3ltr V6 it revs to 5350 - +] Having said that there are props for cruising, top speed, mid range, offshore props, it can drive you crazy in the end.
  8. When I think about it Im sure there was an old Nissan patrol eye-balling my new Dunbier trailer down there.
  9. No worries ! I forgot to mention the oil at the helm unit must be about 10 to 15ml below the threads of the thumb screw otherwise some oil may be forced out on hot days. [expansion of the fluid] no big deal but it just starts running down your dash area.
  10. This is a company that has some fantastic steel and aluminium treatments I have always called them for advise otherwise you end up spending heaps of time looking through the site. ppc.au.com [not .com.au]
  11. Thanks Geoff I will get onto that. Cheers Tony.
  12. I know a mob that may help, not sure if its O.K to post the web details here though.
  13. My dad use to fish up that way about 20 years ago and would bring a shark home every now and then.
  14. I almost droped my brand new Allison boat on the ramp at Apple Tree Bay back in May. My wife and two little ones where in the boat. I was use to launching my dads tinny off his home made trailer which would never let the boat slide off by itself we would just hang on to the rope that was tied up to the bow handle then use all your energy for the next week to push the boat off. At Apple Tree Bay on my first launch I took the safety chain off and loosend the winch strapp then tied a rope to the bow roller and wrapped the rope around the winch post. Reversing down the ramp I noticed what was starting to happen about to hit the accelerator when the boat stopped half way down the trailer. The rope some how pulled onto the winch latch and the strap hook came out of the tow eye on the boat. A few blokes came to shake my hand telling me how lucky I was, but I must say I do it a little better now.
  15. I think the weld idea is the best solution for me, two small tacks wont weaken it enough to cause trouble. Anyway Im going to drag the mig out and solve this crisis. [bastards]
  16. Hey Foreverfishing, so... did you get your lure back? [i just had to ask]
  17. Its the petiness that really pisses me off.
  18. Was down at Port Kembla boat ramp yesterday morning and some bastard stole my safety chain shackle. Just wish I could catch them in the act.
  19. Back again Peahead, What you need is two bottles of Hydrive fluid [most boat shops sell that stuff] then on your helm unit there should be a thumb screw once you undo that you have to find a fitting that will screw into there and also a clear plastic tube that will fit over your fitting then you need another fitting that can be attached to your Hydrive fluid bottle. The idea at the helm unit is that you should be able to hold your 1 litre bottle of fluid upside down which is connected with clear plastic tube so the oil flowes into the helm unit. You need someone at the steering wheel holding the bottle and at the same time be prepared to turn the steering wheel at the same time in the next step. Down on the engine side find some clear plastic tube that will fit over the nipple [about 50cm long] this is used to direct the old oil into a container. Undo the nipple about one and a half turns. If you undo the right hand nipple the person at the wheel turns the steering wheel to the right hand side aswell but fast. Turning the wheel fast in one direction is actually pumping the oil out at the engine side. While the wheel is being turned keep an eye on the oil coming out is should be bubble free once it is lock your nipple up then do the other side Try not to run out of oil at the helm unit while turning the wheel as it does get pumped out quickly When turning the wheel and pumping the oil out, the steering wheel should not stop at full lock if it does lock the nipple you are working on and go to the other side and undo that nipple. You will know when its done properly the steering wheel wont have a full lock when being turned. also you need to put a hole in the bottom of the bottle that is inverted so the oil can be sucked out easily while turning the wheel. If you have trouble finding the bits you need let me know I will post you mine. I have the Hydrive brand on my boat. Anyway let me know how it goes.
  20. G'day mate do you have a filler hole at the top of the helm [just behind the steering wheel] and down on the engine side do you have bleeder niples on both sides of the steering tube?
